Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Ardie and I hiked the Desolation trail to the SLC Overlook.  Awesome morning, now lunch with Julie and then chilling  the rest of the  week and tapering for Goblin Valley.

Mom, if you are reading this, tell dad to take it easy this week so he will be fresh for Goblin!!!  Love you!!

Sounds like a perfect day especially the lunch w/ Julie!

I got a call from Nancy, the Shady Acres lady. I told her about the three parties coming and she said she would put us together. I am so excited!

How should I be tapering this week? I have an ugly blister on my right 4th toe from running 12 miles in my brand new trail shoes on the Rail Trail at PC. I hope it heals up good before Sat. I'm getting excited and nervous at the same time. I also worry about Larry waiting for me all day! :)

Oh, have you received any notification from Connie, the RD? I read somewhere that we're supposed to receive a *welcoming packet* w/ all the necessary info. I keep checking the web-site for update!

Gotta love the taper! Can't wait to read all of you ladies' reports!!!

Smooth, I am not an expert on this, but I am tapering this week, walking/running 3 or 4 miles a day and nothing on Friday. If your shoes are bothering you make sure to have a change of shoes in your drop bag, and maybe a fresh pair of socks and first aid blister stuff. I usually have no problem with blisters, but a change of shoes and socks always feels good.

I just got a call from my dad and he will not be joining us, my mother is having seizures and he doesn't dare leave her.

I am glad you got Nancy to get our cabins together!!! I need to call her and cancel my dad's cabin.

I am really looking forward to seeing you and Kelly. I hope you guys can slow down just a little and really enjoy the experience!!

No, I have not received a welcome packet. Anyway, take care and see you Friday at the dinner!!!

Oh, HI Rach!!!!! I wish you were joining us!! Are you doing the Thanksgiving 5k in my neighborhood?

Rach, you can park at house again if you want and I will walk over with you and then be a bad little bandit and walk it!

Sounds divine! Thanks.

Leslie ~ I am so sorry to hear your mother is having seizures! Hope she's getting better. Bummer that your dad isn't joining us. I just found out my friend, Lowell isn't coming either.

But I look forward to seeing you and Harold and Kelli. Thanks for the tips about shoes, socks and blister stuff. I'm going to make a list so I won't forget. Larry said he's going to download some movies on the iPad so he can watch movies. I think there's electric outlets in the cabins. Can't wait to see you!
