Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

JUST....sounds great to me! How are you feeling? Are you excited for the race? How is the weight loss going? I am sure everything is GREAT, right????

Kelli, I had to stop posting the weight, it was driving me crazy. I feel pretty good about being ready for Red Mountain, I absolutely love the race. It will be a good time. I will be running it heavier than I would have liked, but what's new?

Good luck to you with Boston, that is a huge accomplishment. I hope you can enjoy it and not worry about the kids too much.

Posting my weight stressed me out for a very long time (especially when it inevitably goes up), but now I am used to it and I actually do not think many people even look anymore (unless I bring it up). it has been a good motivator for me, but you have to do what works for you!

I am still mad they canceled Red Mountain last year when i was signed up, darn them!

If you don't do Boston next year, you should sign up again.

I'm with Kelli - JUST muscle up is an understatement. I'm sure things will be GREAT for you at the race, and you will come back w/out those extra pounds!

Boston is a ONE TIME thing, so next year I am there!

From leslie peterson on Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 14:40:38 from 174.52.158.81

Rachel, I wish you were right, but I have too much to lose. I only lost one pound on my 50 miler and it was back the next day. I may be stuck at being a healthy large robust woman forever, its okay I guess, I am grateful for good health and good joints.

Kelli, I am glad you are going to do Red Mountain next year, you will be hooked. Rachel, you should do it too!!!

Oh, I would LOVE to, but I don't see myself being back to any sort of high mileage by then. I'm a nursing mother for the first year for baby, and so I'll probably have to maintain a simple 40-50/week and maybe peak only once or twice for a marathon (I'm hoping). I just worry about it too much...I guess I'll have to see how it goes when the time comes. For sure you can count me in 2012!!
