Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Ardath and I did the hike that was in the Sunday Trib.  It is above Jeremy Ranch and called 24-7, fairly flat, it reminded me of the Bonneville Shoreline trail, only looking down on Park City. Very nice.  It is always fun to find a new trail.

Sounds like a perfect hike on a nice trail.

Cool. You'll have to tell me more about it.

Sounds like a GREAT trail!

I bet it was BEAUTIFUL!!!

So, plans for next weekend? You have done this race before, right? I NEED ADVICE! Do you drop any bags at the aide stations? I am thinking of just sending up baggies with gels in them so I do not have to carry them. And when they said 5 aide stations do they mean 5 out and then the same 5 back (so really 10)??? And can I hitch a ride to the start with you guys so my kids can sleep in?

Kelli, yes, I did this, but I can't remember all the details, actually it was Anita Fromm who was the RD when I did it, it is now the City of Green River, so I am not sure how that has changed things. I think we had one drop bag at the half way mark, I usually just put in shoes and socks, they usually have lots of food along the way, but I know you have a funny tummy, so putting gels in would be a good idea. I can not remember how many aid stations there are, but it is an out and back and so you do go thru each station twice. I didn't see anything about the number of aid stations on the website.

I would love to drive you to the start! Did you get a cabin at the campground or did you get a hotel room? Either way, we can plan to drive you there, that would be fun.

I am getting excited about this!!!

Oh, you might want to get your drop bag ready at home so you can use a different color bag that you can easily identify, and not have to sift thru a bunch of white generic bags looking for your name.

Smooth, if you want to drive down early with us you are welcome too! I may have my mom and dad with us too, I am not sure, but we can all squeeze in and have a cozy ride down!! I think parking is going to be limited.

Sounds like a party! Wish I could be there.

It will be fun, but I am really excited for you Maurine!!!!

From Smooth on Tue, Oct 12, 2010 at 12:46:14 from 67.41.235.104

Kelli ~ The course map shows that there will be 7 aid stations in five locations: start/finish, 1/7, 2/6, turnaround, 3/5. Looks like we can have 4-5 drop bags. I plan to use my Park City race bags, like reusable grocery bags for most of the stations. I posted on my blog (yesterday) what I plan to put it my drop bags. If you think of anything else, post and let us know. I am new at this. Just based on what I did at Pony Express last year. I figure I need extra socks, sunscreen. I could only stomach one peanut butter sandwitch, orange slices and banana. Carrying your own gel should be no problem.

Leslie ~ I would love to hitch a ride w/ you if that is okay. I really worry about Larry getting bored w/ nothing to do for 7+ hours. May be he can hang out with Kelly's kids in Green River! :)

I am getting so excited! We shall take our time, enjoy the scenery and eat w/ no guilt! :D

Smooth, I do not see it on your blog for Monday or Tuesday???

I will probably not eat anything, I will for sure barf if I even try. I dunno, though, maybe a banana. They will have those along the way, I assume. I do not think I want extra shoes or socks even. The only thing I am thinking I will need is 6 gels (I usually carry 4 in a marathon and typically consume 3-4). BUT there are only 2 kids I can stomach so I want my own. I KNOW if I have to carry 6 it will make my skirt fall down!

I saw that it said 5 aide stations, so I just did not get where they were. That does not seem like much for 31 miles! I have to go 6 miles without a drink? Are you going to carry water, then? And then just fill it up as you go?

I need to NOT stress, but I am a little. I could not even figure out if there was a packet pick up or anything the day before. The website is crazy!

And, YES, we got a cabin so we will be in the same place. I figured one of you two would let me hitch a ride (we are supposed to carpool, so I have to be rule abiding). I just figured Harold would be riding his bike and headed out early.

Never mind Smooth, I just saw it. It was a REPLY to me so I was confused! THANKS! Where on the website are you seeing this?

From leslie peterson on Tue, Oct 12, 2010 at 14:44:10 from 174.52.158.81

Kelli and Smooth, you guys are so much more organized than I am!!!!! We are going to have a blast! Glad you two will hitch a ride with us!!!

I need to check out the camelback hand held! Cool.

From leslie peterson on Tue, Oct 12, 2010 at 14:47:54 from 174.52.158.81

Kelli, I also didn't see much about the packet pick up, I guess it is at the Senior Citizen Center where the dinner is, but it wasn't very clear. I also did not see the details on the drop bags or aid stations, that Smooth is quite the detective!
