Personal: I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!) I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren. I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it! I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey. Favorite Blogs: |

| | 3miles and 30 min. of strength training. |
| | I have been slacking posting my miles on the blog, so I caught up and will try and be better. I miss not reading every one's posts. I did 3 miles speed work on the treadmill and then 3.5 outside. Signed up yesterday for the Bryce Canyon Half and signed up a couple of days ago for the Red Mountain 50k. I have about 8 races on my calendar, hope to find a few more to fill up my year.

| | 3 treadmill miles....yuck. | |
| | 4 miles with the SLC training group. 12:50 min pace, felt good, we did hills today. I am excited Trish signed up to do Bryce Canyon with me. Ardath is doing it as well, so it will be great fun! I have been running with a French woman, Natalie, we both have the same pace. She is hooking me up with her friend who works at a vein clinic to measure me and get me some good running tights, Natalie and the workers at the running store took a look at my legs and were surprised that I have run for 16 years on these veiny legs without proper support, they said it will make a huge difference. I also bought new Mizuno shoes, I had worn mine down and have callouses on the outside of my feet. I guess I need to take better care of my body and feet and get the right gear. It was a great morning, great new friends and learning a lot. |
| | 6 miles on the treadmill, pushing hard, only a 1 min. walking break, kept up a 12 min. pace. The SLC running group is motivating me to work a little harder. I feel great! |
| | I did yoga at the rec center and 2 miles on the treadmill |
| | Snowing outside, so I did the treadmill, 6 miles, right on target for my training group. We will do 6 miles sat. |
| | 6 miles with the running group. I love this group!!!!!! |
| | Hiked from Birch Hollow to Elbow Fork and back with Kim, and then Lone Star fish tacos! Awesome. |

| | 2 quick miles before art class |
| | winding my way up to Wasatch Blvd, listening to Adele |
| | ran with the SLC running group in crazy wind, fun course around Liberty Park and the surrounding neighborhood. | |
| | cold icy hike in Millcreek with Ardie, the screw shoes didn't cut it, we need to get the hard core katulas ( or however you spell it) |
| | Woke up to a storm, ran 4 miles on the treadmill and then when the storm cleared I did 4 outside. Right on target for Red Mountain in April. |
| | 8 miles with the SLC training group on the JRP |
| | at 5:00am I hit the treadmill for 5 miles and then went up to Park City and did 6 beautiful miles in the sunshine with Ardie! A perfect day! | |
| | Ran with the SLC running group. Beautiful spring weather! |
| | a few miles on the treadmill before the sun came up and the rest on the Draper Canal trail with Ardie. | |
| | I am seeing a pattern, 2 days a week of a decent run, and 2 or 3 days of 30 min. on the treadmill, okay, but nothing to brag about. |
| | 9 windy miles on the JRP with the SLC running group |
| | ran from the beach house to Dana Point and back. |
| | ran with the SLC running group along the JRP. Harold rode his bike. |
| | fun run with my Running Chicks, 6 miles, nice pace. |
| | Ran with Maurine and running group in City Creek. Lots of hills. |
| | ran with SLC running group |

red mountain 30k (19 Miles) 04:19:00 | | Ran my favorite race of the year (besides St. George) I ran with Craig Lloyd's mom and her friend Diana. What fun ladies! It was hotter than usual, but okay. I love the scenery, the people, and the Race Directors, oh, and the great aid stations! I was 20 min. slower this year, I think I will blame it on the heat!
| | Ardie and I cancelled our hike thinking I would be still recovering from my race, but I felt great so ended up going to the gym with Lisa for some weight training and then 5.5 miles on Porter Rockwell. I am happy to have bounced back so well. |
| | 6:00am run with Lisa and Jenny. Summer is here, the temp was perfect this morning. |
| | Awesome trail run on the Pipeline with Ardie! It feels like summer finally! I am signing up for the Little Grand Canyon Half with Gary and Ernie today!! That gives me a race a month up until Nov. |
| | I started doing a 1 mile speed test last week and am trying to improve each week. Last week I did the mile in 10:54, today I did it in 9:39, I felt great and think I will be able to cut off a little time each week. |
| | Did the Danish/Wasatch route with Lisa, it is always a great morning with Lisa! |
| | Early run on the Pipeline with Maurine, getting busy, lots of runners and bikers! Summer is here. |
| | Did my 1 mile speed test this morning and cut off about 10 seconds. I did 9:29. Ardie and I hiked up to Grandeur Peak, perfect temp. Awesome views, great company. There are 8 switch backs, fun to count them off. |
| | 6:30am run up to Wasatch Blvd and back. |
| | did my favorite road run on Wasatch Blvd down to Draper this morning. Beautiful weather and tons of runners and bikers out this morning. |
| | Ardie and I started up Mill B headed to Desolation Lake and ran into a moose that wouldn't budge, we had to turn around and ended up hiking on the Donut Falls trail. I did another mile speed test and ran the mile in 9:26, good for me, and 3 seconds faster than last week.

I had a great early morning run with Trish on the Pipeline. We put in at Birch Hollow and ran to the Overlook and back. We had the trail pretty much to ourselves, the flowers are starting to bloom, it was a great morning!
One mile test 9:26
|
| | Brain Injury 5k walk with Julie and paul and Liberty Park. |
| |
A great Millcreek run with Trish, she is younger and faster than me, so it is a nice push to go a little faster than I would normally run. Looks like we are going to try and run together once a week.
One mile test 9:24 (2 seconds faster than last week)
|
| | Ran on Danish Road with Lisa! |
| | backing with family in Willow canyon off Hole in the Rock road |
| | 9.5 miles of trail running on the Pipeline and I did a one mile speed test. 9:21 I was happy to shave off 3 seconds from last week. |
| | Ran at 6:00am with Jenny M. and Lisa, I always love running with those girls! |
| | Ran from my house to the South Mountain bridge with Jenny and Lisa. Nice, as always. |
| | hiked to Desolation Lake with Ardie. |
| | Hiked Sulpher Creek with the Alusa family |
| | PC run with Trish, half marathon route. |
| | One mile test, 8:54!! In 8 weeks I have shaved off 2 minutes. It felt easier today than most of the other tests, so I think I can still go faster. |
| | Ardie and I hiked Stewart Falls, it is worth the drive! Blue Lemon afterwards, makes for a perfect day> |

American Fork Half (13.1 Miles) 02:29:00
Wow! I signed up to run this race for a relative with cancer, so glad I did. It was a great course and very well organized and Kneaders had french toast at the end! A 5 Star race for sure. I got to hang out with Lisa and Jenny before and after the race, so that was fun. Melanie and Monica were there at the end to cheer me on. Played leap frog with Kelli and John, they were supporting their 17 year old daughter on her first half. Saw Rachel and Margret at the top and several others milling around at the start. I am happy doing a half in under 3 hours, so my 2:29 time was GREAT! I plan to come back next year, this one is a gem! I also loved the shade of the canyon, it was pleasant thru the whole race.

| | Ardie and I hiked on the north Mill B trail to the overlook and back. It was just enough miles to get my stiffness worked out from the half marathon Sat. I feel great. |
| | Dot and I did ran the Crest for the first time this year, we went from Gaurdsman to Mill D. I fell and got a bloody knee and ripped my running pants, and Dot forgot the keys to her car. We hitch hiked up to my car on Gaurdmans Pass, something I am deathly afraid of. Thank you man with the pony tail that picked us up for not cutting us into pieces. | |
| | Hiked to lake Blanche with Kim, it was tough after 9.5 yesterday. Kim is an animal. Bumped into Dot (Trish) on the trail, she was my running partner yesterday, guess we both are crazy. :) |
| | Pipeline with Gary, Ernie and Harold |
| | Brighton Lakes with Kim and Ardie |
| | Ran 8 miles at the Bryce Canyon Half and then dropped out, not sure what is wrong, but I was totally exhausted. I will check with the doc and see if my iron is low. Taking a week off from running and hiking and hoping that will help. | |
| | walk/jogged the PC Half, after 3 weeks of being sick. Happy to finish. |
| | Hiked Stewart Falls with Ardie, Laurel and Stan. | |
