Personal: I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!) I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren. I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it! I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey. Favorite Blogs: |

| | I survived 2008! I got up this morning, we had 4 grandkids sleep over and I got out before they woke up and did 5 miles. Super slow. I am excited about my families Biggest Loser Contest we are starting today. I am back up to my highest weight, how many times in ones life time do we have to go thru this??? Oh, well, here I go again, and I am excited about it, I am looking forward to healthy eating and living!! I hope you all had a happy New Year!!!!!! | |
| |
I did my same 5 mile course I did yesterday along Danish Road, alittle faster than yesterday, but not much.
I had a great day for my first day on my Biggest Loser contest! I am determined to do well. I am hoping to do some weights this afternoon.
I have a super busy day today, so off I go. Have a great day!!!
| |
Got up early this morning and did my whole run before the sun came up. It was great, no traffic. I took Odee around the park for a mile and then ran up to Wasatch Blvd and back. The street lights and the snow made it just light enough that I could see with out tripping. Alot of people still had their Christmas lights on, it was a real nice quiet run in the snow.
Okay, who is all in on the contest Marion suggested? Run 6 days a week all year and then we'll have a party! A minimum of 2 miles a day unless it is a scheduled taper for a run. I love it.
I actually start my Biggest Loser Contest Monday. I am excited to get into better runnning shape.
| |
| | Good Morning!! I am so excited to start my Biggest Loser Contest tomorrow. There are probably about 9 or 10 family and friends that are doing it. I have to send in a before picture and my measurements and weight. It will last 12 weeks. I hope I can finally reach my goal, I never reached it in 2008, hopefully this will be a better year for a healthier me! I am going to try to do my strength training religiously and run 6 times a week. Wish me luck!! | |
| |
BURRRR!! It was 10 degreees when I went out this morning, I am still trying to thaw out! I ran my Danish Road route, very slow. I was thinking as I was running that with my heel problem my slow pace is a good thing, last summer when I tried to speed up with my young Running Chicks, I was miserable. So maybe I will be the token old lady that goes slow on the fastrunning blog. It is okay with me.
Today starts the big contest. I am excited and nervous. At some point today I will do my fitness test ( Tarzan did hers yesterday) and post the results and then I will also go to the gym and do my strength training. Right now I have to run downtown to rescue my silly husband, he wore mis-matched shoes to work and I need to go save the day!!!!
Okay girls and boys, heres to a PERFECT week! Just one tiny little 7 day period.
Evening Update!
Went to Golds Gym with Harold, Julie, Jana, and Maurine, we wanted to kick off our Biggest Loser Contest together. Maurine and I did the 1st day Circuit Training program from the Making the Cut book by Jillian Micheals. It was a KILLER! I had to modify quite a few of the exersizes, Maurine is in much better shape than me (and younger!) Then we went and did 30 min on the eliptical machine in the Cardio Cinema and watched Back to the Future, it was a lot of fun, but I would never join, I like my Cottonwood Heights Rec Center too much and it is in my backyard. I added 2 miles to my post today for the eliptical.
I had a perfect day today. 2 1/2 hours of exersize and great nutrition all day!!!
| |
First off, thanks for the lecture Maurine ( read yesterdays post) she called me out. She is right right right!!! I guess that is the reason I don't sweat, I don't want to work that hard! I am a big baby. Okay, I will do better!
This morning I went to the gym and did the Day 2 Circuit training, it was tough, and I did modify some. Then I did 3 miles on the treadmill, intervals. The total time was 34:00. I was sweating. I think as much as I dislike the treadmill I need to do it more and push myself, I really zone out while running and am way too comfortable.
After a perfect day yesterday, the scale didn't move, that is extremely annoying!!!
Tonight Harold and I are going to yoga, and we are taping the Biggest Loser and watching it when we get back. I am always inspired by that show.
| |
I did another treadmill run. 4 miles in 48 min. I did some intervals and some hills. I do push myself more on the treadmill, I got a good workout.
They are avalanche bombing in Little Cottonwood, I think I will get called off work again, if that happens I may take Odee out for a hike.
I am stiff from my strength training. I love it! It looks like I am down one pound. That is pretty meager after watching the Biggest Loser on TV last night, but I'll take it! Baby steps.
****Went to the Rec Center tonight with Harold and did the eliptical machine for 30 min. I added 2 more miles to my day!!!!
| |
Today is crazy busy. I did muscle-up, took Odee out for a little walk and now I am busy all day. I am not sure I will get in even a 2 mile run, we will see.......
BAD NEWS!!!! the Red Mountain 50K was canceled! It was my very favorite race ever!!!
Back to work! | |
| |
5 miles on the treadmill, did intervals, got the mileage up to 7.1 several times but only for a minute at a time. 5 miles in 1:01. It was tough.
Yesterday was horrible, our pipe broke and flooded the neighbors basement, this is the second time it has happened. My favorite race of the whole year was canceled too and I had to go to a crappy meeting on my Wedding Anniversary. Today will be better we are celebrating our anniversary and going to the Asian Star tonight!!!!
I am down 2.5 pounds since the BL Contest started!
Oh, and yesterday I bombed out on the 6 days of running in a week contest, so lunch is on me!!!!! How about the Cheesecake Factory??
| |
Maurine and I met in Draper and did a great run on the Porter Rockwell trail. I had NO idea it went so far, I thought it stopped at South Mountain, we went out 4 1/2 miles and then back. We are anxious to get back there and see how far out it goes. It was 23degrees when we started, felt great. The trail is wonderful!!! We need to get the bloggers out there to do a run.
Maurine and I are trying to figure out our 2009 race calendar, it is so much fun making plans. We are almost positive we are going to do the Sunmart 50 Mile trail run in Texas in Dec. I have dreamed about it for years, and this year (knock on wood) I think it will happen. It WILL happen!!
I can hardly wait until Painters next weekend!!!! It is going to be SO much fun!!!!
| |
| |
I took Odee out to Draper and did the Porter Rockwell trail, I went south from the South Mountain bridge, I stilll don't know how far south it goes, I had to turn around to get back for work. I love this trail!
Today is my first weigh in for the Biggest Loser Contest. I am down 2 pounds! I had to work hard for that, only one splurg meal all week, it is tough! It will be hard to stay on track with our St. George weekend.
Here's to a great taper week for us all! Stay healthy and injury free!
| |
Bummer! I woke up with a bladder infection, so I am heading off to the doctor in a few minutes. I know once I get the meds going I will be just fine, but it is a big goose egg for today! This is just alittle to close to Painters for me, but I will get this taken care of! Rotten luck!
| |
I had a great run this morning! My heels felt better today than they have in months. I am taking a new med called Ciprofloxacin for my PF and it seems to make a huge difference. I am going to stretch the heck out my feet these next few days and ice and hopefully I will be fine for Painters.
The meds for my infection have kicked in and I feel great, things are looking up!!
I am going to focus on healthy foods these next few days and keep it light, so like Smooth says, I won't have too much junk in my trunk for Painters! I love it!!!
6.47 miles 1:20 min. 12:21 avg. pace
| |
Today is a busy day, I have to do most of my Friday appts. today, so I am packed. I will be lucky if I get a mile walk in with Odee tonight. Oh, well, this is what I have to do to get a day off tomorrow. I am so looking forward to St. George!
OOPS!! I just realized I gave you the wrong med. info yesterday. The drug I mentioned yesterday was for the bladder infection. Naproxen is the med for my PF. It seems to help my feet, but it is making me extremely bloated, it did say that was one of the side effects, that was another reason I didn't jump out of bed earlier to get my run in today. I had alot of fiber yesterday, that could be part of the problem as well, I better watch it today, I can't be feeling like this Sat.
| |
We are heading down to St. George in a few hours! We are meeting the bloggers for dinner tonight and then running the Painters Half Marathon tomorrow. Everyone going down, drive safe and not too much junk food on the way down!! :)

Painters Half Marthon (13 Miles) 02:29:25, Place in age division: 22
Painters was a blast! Harold and I met up with Marion, Dave, Kelli, Scott, Smooth and Pres. Smooth, Jon and Kelly and afew others, sorry I forgot all the names for dinner and visiting. It was so much fun to get to know everyone better, in real life!
The race was awesome, my plan was to plug into my ipod and enjoy the first run of the year slow and easy. I thought I would start with with Kelli and Marion and see how long I could keep up and I made it the whole way. It was SO much fun!!! The girls kept me entertained with lots of stories, I was thrilled to be able to stay with them thru the race. It was fun to see all the fastrunning bloggers pass us by. Jon and Kelly and Scott came back to herd is in to the finish. Thanks guys, it felt good to know we had friends to come back and help us finish. I don't have my computer to figure out the splits, hopefully Marion or Kelli will do a more detailed report. I think we averaged about a 11:12 pace. Thanks Kelli for being such a great cheerleader, and congratulations Marion for completing your first half marathon. It was so much fun to run with you both, you are AWESOME!!!!
Smooth where were you? We missed you!!!!! I hope Teena made it thru okay!
***** I just got home and read everyones blog, my entry is not very detailed, please read Kelli and Marion's entry for a better account of our run. I don't know how Marion can remember that much detail from each mile, it is all a blur to me. The picture on the bottom left is of me with Lisa ( one of my running chicks from last summer) and her cute daughter Brooke that did the 5K.*****

I have been so inspired by all of you on the blog! After such a fun weekend, I have been all fired up to do better. This morning I jumped out of bed at 5:30 and went over to the spa and did 5 miles on the treadmill, it took just under an hour. I came home and got ready for another run with Maurine. I told her we had to get above the crappy air, so I took her and Odee up to Jeremy Ranch and we ran on a dirt road, of course it was covered with snow and ran a hilly course to the intersection that takes you to East Canyon Res. It was gorgous, blue blue skies. There was hardly any traffic, we followed a river most of the way. I ended up doing 13.50 with Maurine. I left her to go get food because she was shooting for 20 miles today. I got some healthy grub from the Whole Foods store and went back and picked up Maurine. We were both pretty tired, no pain, just tired, now I am going to go take a shower and nap.
Today was our second weigh in for the Biggest Loser Contest, NOT GOOD! I was up one pound. Do you think it could have been the cheeseburger and fries after Painters and the package of chocolate cinnamon bears I ate while snuggling up with Harold on the couch Sat. night? Oh, well, if I can't eat after a race, I don't want to race!!! I don't have a race until the contest is over, so I should be okay!
| |
Yay! A crosstraining day for me! I did muscle up this morning and than swam 450 meters. It is the first time I have been in the pool this winter, it felt great. I think I am going to try and have Tue and Thur be crosstraining days for awhile and see how that goes.
Have a great day! | |
| |
Another day in the gym, I am sick of this inversion and want to move to St. George!! I think it is a runners paradise, in the winter anyway. My cousin just bought a home and showed me where the key is hidden and said I can go any time. So my question is....why am I here??
Anyway I did 1/2 my miles on the treadmill and 1/2 on the eliptical. I should have stayed and worked out longer but there is a chance I will have to go up to Snowbird and work today, so I need to get all gussied up.
Yesterdays nutrition was pretty good, I think I was thinking about food too much and ate too much, even though it was all healthy choices. Today I am working on healthy choices and portions!!! I am going to have a good week!
| |
I did muscle up this morning, and that is going to be it for the day. I am feeling real good about crosstraining 2 days a week and giving my feet a break. I will try and get a pool work out after muscle up, but today is too busy.
Oh, and it is healthier to work out indoors because we have filters my hubby said, our instucter this morning said the same thing. So everyone, get above the muck or stay indoors! I am hoping to do another Park City run Sat., this treadmill running is painful.
Yesterday I had PERFECT nutritition and it paid off, one pound down. I am going for another day!!!
| |
I did 5 miles on the treadmill in 59:39 min.
The scale dropped .7 pounds this morning
That's it folks! Have a nice weekend. If anyone wants to join Muarine and I for a sunny run in Park City let us know, maybe lunch after.
| |
I am in the DOG HOUSE!!!!!!!
I made Maurine go up to Park City to be above the muck, she got all ambitious on me and ran from her house in Midvale to mine in Cottonwood Heights, about 4 1/2 miles of up hill. We drive up to Park City and it was foggy and raining and cold and the trail was full of snow that was not packed down, it was like running in....in SNOW! It was tough, thank goodness Maurine has had a big mileage week and didn't have a set number of miles she wanted to run, so I whimped out early. 4 miles and I was soaked and tired and SO DONE. We did see a fox in the field, about a 100 ft. away from us that just stared at us, I was really surprised Odee didn't go after him. They just looked at each other, I wonder how Odee knew not to go after him, he chases all the dogs. Good thing, he could have had rabies or something. Anyway,we stopped and got Starbucks hot chocolate and came home. As we drove down the canyon we saw the valley, blue skys and NO MUCK!!! Maurine is not going to let me live this one down. We could have had a great long run on the Porter Rockwell trail and been dry and warm. Oh, well. We got to my house and I was going to drive her home and she insisted on running home, yuck, all wet and cold, after being in the warm car, I don't know how she mustered up the will power to get out and run more. Check her miles for the week. She is going to do SO good on her first 50 miler in March. I feel pretty whimpy today.
| |
6 miles on the treadmill. I did the first 5 miles in 55:00 min. and then took it easy the last mile.
I just got a notice from the gal organizing the Biggest Loser Contest and they are changing the weigh in to Thur. Whew! After 6 days of perfect nutrition, I slacked off a bit yesterday and the scale really punished me. I was only down 1.5 this morning. Hopefully by Thur. I will be down a little more.
Here's to a great week everyone!
| | It is SO COLD! I went to the gym and did a mix of the elpitical machine and the indoor track for 45 min. I am guessing on my miles today, wasn't feeling all that "into" it this morning. I did do 60 sit ups while I was on the indoor track, and then I did Muscle-Up.
As far as my Biggest Loser Contest goes, I have had acouple of "so-so" days, I am making pretty good choices, but I am eating WAY TOO MUCH! Weigh in is on Thur. so I need to really make an effort to limit my portions. I live to eat instead of eat to live. When will I learn?
Harold and I went and did 30 min. on the eliptical tonight, so I updated my miles.
We found out that Paul has gall stones, of all the rotten luck! They took a CT scan and said the brain is healing fine, or was it the crainium?...anyway, no problem there.
| |
5 miles on the tread mill, I focused on doing the first 3 as tempo miles. 3 miles in 33:00 min and then I was up and down doing intervals. I did one mile on the eliptical for a warm up.
Looks like a few of us are going to meet for a group run on the Porter Rockwell trail. The easiest place to meet is the Albertsons parking lot on 12300S. and 13th East, that way those of you from Utah County can just get off the freeway at 12300 S. and drive straight east until you get to 1300E. Alberstons is on the right side the of the street. The trail head is on 13th just south of 12300S. We were thinking of meeting at 7:45, but if anyone needs to come earlier or later, we will see you on the trail where ever. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
Okay, the scale is holding at 1.5 loss and weigh in for the contest is tomorrow,I would love to get another .5 off by morning. Then my game plan is to try and lose one pound a week for the next 10 weeks of the contest, it sounds easy, but I have struggled with these last 10 pounds for years, it will be a miracle if I actually do it!
For those of you following my Paul, the test showed he has gall stones , thank goodness it is not life threatening, but still I hate to see him going thru more pain.
Maurine just emailed me, there are several trails that connect, so there are lots of possibilites for everyone.
| |
I woke up this morning and the scale kicked me in the teeth, I was ticked off and in a poopy mood, only ran for 2.50 miles on the treadmilll and went down to McDonalds and got a breakfast burrito and diet coke and I am trying to adjust my bad attitude. I am only down 1 pound for my contest. That really stinks. This is weigh in #3 and I am only down 2 pounds.
On the brighter side, I am looking forward to our group run Sat. and the PARTY! I am not sure of all the details, between Smooth and Maurine and I we will figure out something and post it as soon as we have a solid plan. Everyone is doing different miles and paces, it will be fun and wacky, we just need to make sure we all hook up at some point. I am still thinking at this point I will meet whoever shows up at Albertsons at 7:30 am, but I am flexible.
| |
4 easy miles on the treadmill this morning, I am getting sick of winter...49 days until Spring.... so I have not been outside much.
I am really looking forward to Saturdays run! Maurine and I are meeting at the Albertsons on 12300 S. and 1300 E. at 7:45 am if anyone would like to join us! Maurine is bringing Paradise Cookies ( Maurine, don't forget to put in a sugar cookie for me!) Everyone is welcome, you can run at your own pace and put in how ever many miles you want, just come and run and have a cookie!! If you are planning on going let Maurine or I know so we can at least wait for you and run you to the trail head which is just .3 miles from the parking lot. Hope to see you there!
| |
Maurine and I met at the trailhead to the Porter Rockwell at 8:15 since we didn't have anyone else joining us. There is a parklot lot at the Draper Park across the street from the trail. The weather was perfect. We started out on the PR trail and then took the first Draper Canal trail and then hooked up again to the PR trail. We took it to the very end, at the point of the mountain. We had a stretch of trail that had really strong headwinds, but once we turned around and got past it, it was gorgous. It felt like spring, alot of people were out today, blue skys, it was great. Maurine got in extra miles running Odee up and down the hills on the side of the trail, she is really on a mission to do well for her big Antelope Island trail. It was fun talking with her, running buddies are the best!
I hate my new fuel belt, I have the black one with the green/yellow bottles, it keeps sliding down, so I pull it up like Erkle and look like a dork, and then it slides down again. Who likes their fuel belt and what kind do you have? I made Maurine trade with me the last mile and I like hers better, she has the red one ( not sure of the brand) but I liked hers better. I was going to buy Maurine's brand and Wasatch Running talked me into the other brand. Dang.
Looking forward to the party tonight, I am bringing my hubby after all. He was going to stay behind and babysit grandkids, but they are not coming, so Harold and I are picking up Maurine and all going together!! See you there!!!! I can't wait!!!
| |
3 miles around the neighborhood. I ate to much over the weekend, Paradise Bakery cookies after the run/Bloggers Party/SuperBowl Sunday, it doesn't do much for your Monday morning run. Super sluggish. I am going to have to watch it close these next few days, I will be lucky if I don't gain, I will settle for just holding on for dear life my meager little loss.
I may go out for a run this afternoon, I am not very happy with 3 miles.
Have a great week everyone!
I got out and did some speed work! This is totally out of my comfort zone to go back out after I am dressed for the day. I need a lesson on my garmin, I will get Maurine to help me. I NEVER touch my garmin when I run, I do potty stops, rest stops whatever, so this time I hit my lap button every time I did a sprint. I did 12 sprints, the longest one was 3 min., most of them were between 1 and 2 mintes. The 3 fastest were 8:?? and the rest were all 9:?? I was pretty happy with that, but I was walking inbetween the sprints. I actually had a fun time, I just need to know how to do it correctly and learn how to put the results on the blog right, so it makes sense, and then I can come back and see how I improve. I am looking forward to my butt crack of dawn run with Maurine on Wed. to do some speed work with her.
| |
Muscle-Up today. Hopefully I can get in a short run later today. They moved Paul's surgery up to today, he was in a lot of pain over the weekend.
Happy Running!
| |
| |
Mean Maurine made me get up early and run fast.
6.2 miles total - 1:12:46
2 miles warmup
3 miles speedwork - 10:07 / 10:04 / 10:08
1.2 miles slow/cooldown
**** Okay, I had Maurine put the splits on my blog this morning for me, I messed up on mine. I met Maurine at her house at 5:30 am and had a great run. The course was flat, along 7th east. It was hard, I was definitely out of my comfort zone, but was surprised it was do-able. I am hoping I can do a weekday run with Maurine once a week for speedwork, she has gotten so fast that my speed work is her recovery run, it really helped to have her right there coaxing me along. I do breath like a freight train, I was working hard enough that conversation wasn't easy for me. It looked like it was a walk in the park for her. I am excited to see what she does at the 5K on Sat. I am going to pass on the 5K and say this was mine this morning. My time would have been 30:19 ( sort of, that is 3 miles and not 3.1) I was happy with that. THANK YOU MAURINE!!!!!!!********
| |
3 little treadmill miles, 20 min. of weights and a one hour yoga class.
Todays weigh in for the contest was a big goose egg!
My focus is to have a perfect weekend, that's it, I need to do baby steps!!
| |
| |
Two Extremely wimpy miles. I am sore from head to toe ( maybe my weight training) achy back and arms. I think I am still recovering from my speed work, legs aren't quite right. I am not sure what to do tomorrow, run or take a break. I have been on my feet all day doing hair, feel plain ol' tuckered out. It is off to the couch with a hot pad to relax.
Everyone enjoy your weekend, those of you in Lehi and the Provo 5K!
| | Woke up feeling much better today, I decided to take Odee over to the PR trail, Harold was going to go skiing, but decided to bike with me. We did nice easy run, it was overcast, but no rain, the temp. actually was perfect. I did a little bit of speed work, getting my pace down into the 8's and 9's for short little spurts, but for the most part it was a nice leisurely run. Alot of runners were out today, I think everyone is thinking spring and getting ready for the running season, it was a fun atmosphere. I was glad to get out of my 2 day funk! Happy Days!!! I am dieing to hear how my little Marion and Maurine did today and get the details on the Lehi running group. I thought of you all today, but was glad I made the decsion to take an easy day today, it was perfect!! | |
| |
Oh, yes! You read that right! 18 big ones!!! I had both of my morning appts. cancel on me and so I had a free morning. I took Odee to the PR trail and ran in the snow with him. When we got to the point of the mountain it was super windy, it felt like hundreds of needles were shooting into my face. It snowed the whole time I was running. I ran back to the car at about 10 miles and put Odee in the car and had a sip of diet coke and ran the trail out another mile and half and then back. I thought 13 would be a good run for today, but when I got home and didn't know what else to do ( I live a pretty boring life) I changed into dry clothes and ran up to Wasatch Blvd, and then along the Blvd. and back down for another 5. I felt pretty good. It took me 3:57 for the whole 18. I am going to try for 40 miles this week. Now off to see what you all did today!!!
Tonight Maurine and I are going to sign up for the Grand Slam and then go to dinner!!! What a fun day!!!
| |
Recovery day! I did msucle-up and then walked around the indoor track for one mile. I came home and tried the Yoga on channel 9 that one of my clients recommended and made it 6 minutes. Done. My body does not move that way. I think I need to go to class where I am trapped there for 1 hour and modify modify modify!!!!
Okay, I went over to the spa and did a yoga class, lots of modifying but I got thru it and feel great!
| |
The plan was to meet Maurine at 5:30 am to do speedwork, but I just wasn't feeling up to it after my 18 miler Monday, and Maurine had run 10.50 last night so she was okay with an easy run. I say easy run, the pace looks slow on paper, but it felt hard, it was cold and we had head winds and my legs were still pretty wiped out.
splits 13:13/ 12:46/ 12:54/ 12:39/ 12:50
| |
| |
Crash and Burn!! I ate so few calories yesterday that I woke up really weak, went to the gym and struggled thru 2 wimpy miles..... BUT I did drop one pound! I just ate a bowl of whole wheat cereal with berries and nuts and I feel great. That's it for me today I have a super busy day. Off to beautify the world, one head at a time!!! :)
Biggest Loser Contest week #5 3 pounds
| |
Happy Valentines Day Eve!!! I am still a little low on energy, I think my 18 miler Mon. kicked my fanny more than I thought it would. I just did 3 miles on the treadmill. I am hoping I can get up enough "umph" tomorrow to do 8 or 9 miles.
Another busy day and then babysitting grandkids tonight. Are we allowed to put Tylenol pm in their Cheerios?
| |
For my work out today I went to the Cheesecake Factory and ate the Thai Lettuce Wraps with my honey and shared a Carrot Cake Cheesecake. And then for my cross training I went and saw " He's Just Not That Into YOU" Perfect day!
Happy Valentines Day to everyone!!!!! I need more chocolate!!!

My whole body fought me this morning, I had two days off running and xcrossing and it was not good. I learned a very valuable lesson, my body needs to move every day, or I seize up. My AP was 13:13.
This week I am going to try and run 5 miles Mon. thur Thur., I will also do my muscle-up Tue and Thur. Friday, Harold and I are going to our beach house in San Juan Capistrano for a long weekend. I can not wait to run along the beach and soak up the sun!
Have a great week everyone!
| | Who put the lead in my pants? Another hard run, sluggish, joints not working quite right, I felt I pushed harder this morning, but my time was the same. What gives? Oh, well, I had to cut out Muscle-Up, I got called up to Snowbird to do a massage, so I've got to get dressed and drive up the canyon, it's a chains or 4X4 only today, I am not looking forward to the drive. | |
| |
Was out the door at 7:00, there were snow flurries, but at least I had day light. I finally picked up the pace a bit.
5 miles 1:00 AP 12:09 splits 11:22 / 12:03 / 12:31 / 12:33 / 12:18
It's my youngest birthday today, Janalisa, she is 23. I am going to color her and Julie's hair today and take them to lunch. Fun times!
Maurine and I have been thinking and talking and stewing about our 50 miler, we think we don't want to spend the money or time to go out of state, so we are now considering doing the OV50 miler on Oct. 24, ask us next week and you may get a different answer, but I am thinking this makes alot more sense, other than you have to go up and over Trappers Loop twice! It is up in the Huntsville area, it is one of the most beautiful places in Utah I think, well, you know, that is where the Ogden Marathon is, anyway, we can go up during the summer and run parts of the course. That is our most recent thoughts on the upcoming 50.
Note to Maurine: I just pretended you were in front of me this morning telling me to catch up to you and it worked! :)
| |
I had a great run this morning, I waited for the sun to come up again, and wore a lighter windbreaker, I think it helped, I think I am slower and more cautious in the dark, and my jacket has been weighing me down, so I felt lighter and brighter this morning and had a better time.
5 miles 57:44 AP 11:36 10:59 / 11:15 / 11:51 / 11:45 / 12:09
My next run will be along beach!!! Have a great safe weekend, and good luck with all your long run plans!
| | Hi Guys! I have read your blogs today and I could just cry I am so darned proud of you all, especially Maurine, can you believe 35 miles!!!!!!!?????? We are having the time of our life, yesterday we went to breakfast and to the Getty Museum with Gary and Ernie and today we walked around San Clemente and shopped and had lunch with my folks. My dad showed us some bike paths for our run tomorrow. Gary and I are going to run from our beachouse in San Juan Capistrano to San Clemente, past the pier to a State Park and then back past the beach house to Dana Point. We are planning to run 5 hours. I hope I can sleep tonight I am so excited!!! We have family coming from Idaho, Washington and Springville coming over for dinner tonight, mom and dad are the best host and hostess's ever!!!! Last night we had some other friends from SLC here, it is a non-stop party!!!!! I could stay here forever!
I hope you are all getting plenty of rest and having a fabulous dinner tonight, you all earned it!!!

| | I am having so much fun, I can hardly stand it! Last night we all played cards and visited and laughed until bed time, most of my family are to see Lance Armstrong race, my cousin and my sister-in-law are Lance's biggest fans. So they are all pretty hyped up and giddy watching all the different stages, they have seen a few celebrities too. I on the other hand was all excited about my long run up and down the coast. We mapped out our course yesterday and it worked out perfectly, no I should say, there was one glitch, I made a wrong wardrobe choice and had terrible TERRIBLE chaffing, raw to the bone chaffing, and I will not tell you where. I ended up making Harold give me his biking shorts and chucked my long pants, it helped some, but it was still pretty miserable. We started out going south and ran as far as the trail would go and then hopped over the railroad tracks and ran on the beach for several miles, that is tough work let me tell you. We ran to a point of land that we could see from the beach house and noticed there was a surfing competition going on so we checked that out and then turned around and came back. Harold and Ernie were on their bikes, so they of course had to wait for Gary and I while we ran along the beach to the point. It was after the beach run that I told Harold to hand over his britches or I would die. That helped tons. We now were on our way to Dana Point. I called my dad on my cell phone and told him we were almost to the beach house and he jumped over a 6 foot wall and over the rail road tracks and gave us a big cheer and an apple and orange, we told him we were half way done, and on our way to Dana Point. He said he and mom would meet us there and treat us to a lite lunch. At this point about 14 miles, I was getting alittle tired and the chaffing was real painful, we made it to Dana Point and met my folks and got a wrap and a chocolate peanut butter shake, I felt renewed, but after sitting for a half an hour, I started getting real cold and when I got up to use the rest room the chaffing seemed unbearable, so I opted to go home with my folks in the car. It was a good choice. Ernie and Gary went all the way to the very point of Dana Point and they are still not back. Harold turned around and actually beat us back to the beach house. I am now showered and comfy and enjoying the sound of the waves breaking in the comfort of our cozy beach house. My total miles for the day was 17.50 we were out for over 4 hours, but I am not sure of our time or splits, as we stopped alot and I would forget to start or stop my garmin. Anyway it was a nice leisurely run, most of the running was at an 11 to 13 min. mile. We stopped to look at babies and play with a dog that looked exactly like Odee, he was halfgolden and half Pyranese, so that was fun. We really did enjoy ourselves and didn't pay attention to our time. Tonight we are getting together with more family and I am making my Cafe Rio Pork Salad that has been in the crock pot since last night. More card games and laughter and maybe some of the Oscar Awards too!!! Tomorrow we come back home, but it has been just what Harold and I have needed for alittle R and R. Sorry this sounds more like a travel log than a running blog entry, but it sure has been fun!!! I am not even going to re-read this so please overlook my typo's this darn lap top is acting stupid.
| |
| |
I did a 5 mile recovery run/walk, the weather was great, clear blue skys, I may have to get out again for another walk with Odee. I am glad Utah welcomed me home to such beautiful weather!
Today is an catch up day, wash the car, to the bank, go to the beauty supply, Target, fun fun fun! Have a great day!
| |
Quads are still alittle tight, did another recovery run. Nice and Slow. I need to get these legs ready for a 14 miler Sat. with Marion.
Yard work today, it feels like Spring out there! And a drive up to Snowbird to get a ski pass for my grandson. I just love play days!
Happy Running my friends!!! Maurine and I ended up running 5 more miles today on the Queen's Penguin Trail after Maurine got off work. Then she let me borrow her balancing board for ankle therapy and she gave me one of her homemade protein, soy, banana ice cream treats. It was super yummy!!!!
| |
| |
I slept in, got up, got dressed, got out the door, went .11 miles into the park and wasn't feeling the love, I was feeling the pain, turned around got in the shower and got dressed and am going to be working my fanny off all day. I am taking an offical day off from running.
I dropped one pound, by the skin of my teeth, that only makes 3 pounds in 7 weeks, not very impressive, but I am still trying. Maurine and I have a new game plan, tracking ourselves on fit day, so we shall see. I REALLY want to see 8 pounds off by the end of March for running season!!
How are we going to survive without Kelli's thought for the day?
I WILL be ready for an adventureous 14 miler with girls on Sat.!!!!!
So far I have had kashi cereal and a banana and egg whites and toast.
Lunch- Yummy salad with Hendrickson's dressing (lettuce, tomato, green pepper, carrots, grapes, apple, 1/2can tuna and pecans)
snack #1 - 1/2 slice whole wheat bread and peanut butter
snack #2 two of my healthy grain cookies, they are super healthy because I forgot to put the butter in! ( they have oats, fresh ground wheat, quinoa and flax, walnuts and raisins)
For dinner I am fixing tilapia, sweet patato and a green salad.
| | I woke up to snow and just couldn't get excited about running in winter weather conditions. I am in the spring mode for sure. I ended up running/walking 4 miles on the PR trail, I never get in a good work out when I run in the afternoon. I have to run before my brain turns on, or it will have a million reasons to slow down and walk. Oh, well, I am still a little stiff from my 17 miler, so it is good I took it easy today. I just hope I don't slow Marion down too much tomorrow!! I am excited about running in new territory! | |
| |
THANK YOU MARION !!!!!!!! It was a perfect run, great scenery, very few cars, relatively flat course and of course wonderful company!!!!
Now I don't know how to get rid of the pink. Okay, you need to read Marion's blog, she has the splits and all the details.
It was so much fun, the only down side was I got a phone call from Maurine this morning at 5:15 and she pooped out on us. We missed her, but had a great time. It is NOT that far to Payson, it was worth the drive and I wouldn't hesitate to go anytime I get a chance. I was worried about keeping up with Marion, after my big run on Sunday, but she was so easy going and we had so much fun talking, I hardly noticed the sore muscles. Payson Canyon is wonderful, I would like to that again. It was fun to go to breakfast after and chat. Marion makes everyone feel like she is your best friend. Thanks again Marion! Now I am going to take an ice bath and take a nap!
Woo hoo! This is my highest mileage week I have had since last summer!!
| |
I took Odee down to the PR trail and did a slow easy run. I am still feeling the aftermath of my California run.
Looking forward to lunch with Maurine at Paradise Bakery!
Decided I must be faithful about my muscle-up class, I am so wishy washy, I really notice it since I have been on the blog and see how consistant and dedicated everyone is. I need to get a fire under my butt, I am too much of a coaster!
| |
Went to muscle-up this morning, and then did 4 miles up Bengal Blvd and along Danish Road. 51 min. AP was 12:48, and now I am heading off to a yoga class with Ardath.
I am hoping to make Tue and Thur. my cross training days and get in a short little run too.
Happy Running and a great day to all!
| |
I did a route this morning that I haven't done in awhile, it is very hilly, I go down by the Cottonbottom and up past the Old Mill and up to the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon, it was warm but very windy. I will have to work at getting my pace faster thru the spring, I did a bit of walking.
6.32 miles AP 13:13
Tomorrow is week #8 of the weigh in, if I have a perfect day I should be down, the scale is looking good if I can just hang on!
| |
Bummer! Maurine and I were going to do my Old Mill run this morning, but when I woke up to 3 inches of snow on the ground I canceled. I ended up going to the spa and doing 2 1/2 miles on the treadmill. I skipped out on my muscle up, just wasn't in the mood.
As for my biggest loser contest I am down one pound from last week. This is week #8 and I am down 4 pounds. Nothing to brag about, but better than gaining!
I talked to my best freind in Hawaii yesterday, I would give anything to be sitting on a beach drinking a pina colada (virgin of course)! Maybe next year I will do the Honolulu marathon or the Aloha Run. Something to dream about.
| |
I did my hilly Old Mill route, the temp was 34, blue skies, the mountains were gorgous, perfect running conditions. I beat my Wed. AP of 13:13
Today 6:29 miles 1:20 AP 12:51
Off to a busy day, have a great weekend!
| |
I could feel myself getting sick yesterday, it got worse thru the night, I am taking 2 days off of running. I hope you all enjoy your long runs, I will be anxious to hear about them! Have a great weekend.
| | Still sick. Dang it. Looks like a day on the couch with Pope Joan! | |
| |
Still sick. No voice. I am going to juice some carrots, celery, spinach and apples today, and drink tons. My chest is very congested. YUCK.
| | I am going to see the doctor today, I feel worse this morning. | |
| |
This is so dumb. I never get sick, so I am really not handling this well. The doctor said it is viral and to rest up and drink lots. I am following orders. I am hoping by Sat. I can get out and run a little.
My biggest loser contest weigh in was today and I was up a pound, not surprised.
| |
I am starting to feel better, I have been thinking this morning how good my feet and legs feel. They really haven't had a "week off" in several years, I haven't taken any Vit I and my PL seems to have gone away. I think this has actually been a good thing for my body to totally rest for a week. Not only do I feel better and rested, but it has made me appreciate how much I have missed running and how much I would like to do better at it, I will never be fast, but I would like to be stronger and to be able to hit more 10 min. miles in my training and races. That sounds wimpy to most of you on the blog, but 10 min miles for me would be just perfect.
I am looking forward to a run with Maurine tomorrow on the Parkway, SLC Running store is having a training run for the SLC marathon, they are doing a 18-20 run, with aid every 2 miles, they said it is open to the running public. I can hardly wait!! Let us know if anyone wants to join us. They said the start is at the 5400 S. parking lot between 7 and 7:30.
Oh, and if you need a good book to read, check out Pope Joan by Donna Woolfolk Cross, it is a great read!
| |
THANK YOU MAURINE!!!!!!!!!! This is my first run in 8 days, it felt so good to be back running. The parkways was buzzing with people, SLC Running Store had a group run and so did Team in Training, so there were lots of runners, and water stops almost every mile or two. We had fun visiting with a few runners at the water stops. Maurine had to run circles around me, I SO appreciate her letting me run with her. I had a wonderful time, my chest is stilll congested, but my legs and feet felt rested. I started having just a tad of pain in my right knee a 10 1/2 miles, so was glad to stop at 12. I think I am as excited about Maurines 50 miler as she is. Only two more weeks!!!! As of now it looks like I will pace her the last 17 miles. How fun!!!!
| |
| | Almost had to cancel my run, I have a super busy day after taking off last week. I eeked out shortie today. Harold and I are going to start biking in the evening, so I will come back with those miles later. Have a healthy week! 2.70 AP 12:19 | |
| |
Today is my cross training day. I did Muscle-up, Zumba and Yoga. It was great, but kind of odd to be indoors when it is so nice outdoors!!!
Happy St. Patricks Day!!! I just had a green smoothie and am off for a green pedicure!!!!!!
| |
I did my hilly Old Mill route this morning, Maurine was going to join me and we were going to do it 5:30am, but she called last night and was not feeling well. Dang it! She needs to get better and FAST!! My plan was to see if I could go just a tad faster than the last time I ran it and I did. Last time my AP was 12:51 this morning it was 12:15. Yeah!
Harold and I still have not gone out on a bike ride after work. We were going to ride every day after he gets home. I will have to think of a bribe!
| | It's my birthday and I know that it will start a wonderful year of running and good health. Thanks Maurine for this entry, I woke up and saw it and thought I was going crazy, and then I remembered Maurine had my password and that she is crazy!!! Anyway, got up, and as you know it is my BD, and I decided I wanted to run on my special day instead of cross train. It was also weigh in day, so I didn't eat before hand (very very dumb....but SOO very me!) Did two miles at an 11mm and then crashed and walked/jogged the rest of the miles. BUT!!! I did drop! This is week #10 and I am down 5 pounds! I spent my morning working like a dog, but now I am done and am playing the rest of the day and hubby is taking me to dinner and giving me a massage. YIPPEE! Some cute little good fairy left me Paradise Bakery Cookies on my doorstep and I have already downed THREE!!! It is a happy day!!! Oink! Oink! | |
| | I am taking a day off today. All I have in my tank is sugar cookies and Thai food, not very good running fuel and my legs are a little stiff. I took Odee over to the Old Mill Resivour and walked. Instead of a long run tomorrow Harold and I are going to take a bike ride, the goal is to see if I can enjoy it. I am afraid of riding on the road. I need to get over this fear so we don't have to haul the bikes to a trail every time we want to ride bikes. Have a great weekend everybody!!! | |
| |
Harold and I went out for a 2 hour bike ride, oh, baby, my fanny is sore! I could get into this bike thing I think, it sure takes different muscles, it was a great workout and great to be with my hubby.
I am excited to work in my flower beds and then go to the Cheesecake Factory for another BD celebration.
| | Woke up to 3 inches of snow and it is still coming down hard. I ended up doing 3 treadmill miles with the speed between 5.0 - 6.00 Off to work, have a great day! | |
| | I made an attempt at exersize this morning. I got to muscle-up and realized I forgot my phone to call Snowbird, so I had to go back home and call Snowbird. I got called off. The Cliff Spa is dead. I have done 3 massages all winter, it is nuts! The winter season will end April 28 and the calling and standing by will be over. I think I am done with Snowbird forever, I wonder if Harold will still love me without a free season pass? I think it is worth a try. I can not get myself motivated to go out and run, it is actually beautiful out,I had a bowl of chili for lunch and it is doing a little jig in my gut. So I think I am going to be a total slacker today. Can you say LOSER? On the bright side Maurine is coming over for dinner tonight, she is bringing her famous speghetti sauce and I am doing a salad and garlic bread. We are going to go over the last minute details for the big race. Fun! | |
| | It is snowing again! I went to the spa and did 3.50 on the eliptical machine. Looks like it is going to be a day of tinkering around in the house. I lost my desire to tough it through the winter days, it is spring now, I am rebeling. | |
| | I ran in the snow. I need brownie points or brownies. My fingers are so numb I can hardly write. This better be the last of winter, OR ELSE!! Super slow today, ran up Bengal Blvd to Danish. Not fun. oh, there was snow on the ground and snow coming down. waaaaa. Doesn't Mother Nature know it is spring for crying out loud!!! | |
| | This morning I did a short little equipment check to make sure everything is ready for tomorrow. I wore my new Saucony gloves and my new UnderArmour jacket to see how they feel and if they will be warm enough. Odee came along, he had his seasonal shave and was bald, we did 2 laps around the park. I am happy with my new items and all ready for tomorrow. If any of you have any cute stories or jokes that might help Maurine along the way please PM me, that would be awesome. Thanks Marion for what you have sent all ready. Good luck to all of you at Riverton, Maurine and I will both be thinking of you! It is going to be a great day, looks like we are all going to luck out on the weather. Antelope Island could be a muddy mess, but there's not much we can do about that. Have a great weekend! | |
| | Today was the Buffalo Run. I got out to the island around 11:00ish, and saw a runner from the distance that took her hat off and waved to me, I thought it was Maurine, but wasn't sure because all runners look alike from that far away. It turned out she recognized my 4 Runner and was waving to me. I found her sister Marsha at the first first aid station and since the aid station was fully staffed we decided to try to find Maurine again and see how she was doing. We went to the 27 mile aid station and had fun talking to runners and aid station staffers, it was so much fun, all this positive energy. I met a 65 year old man that had just DNFed, but he was all smiles, he said his back was bothering him and the smart thing to do was to drop out, he has done the Wasatch 100 6 times, he said the first time he did it, his 6 year old boy met him at the finish and they held hands across the finish line and now that little boy is running ultras with him.  Marsha and I walked up the trail to a little plateau and low and behold there was Maurine, she was walking, but there is alot of walking in an ultra so at first we weren't concerned until we saw the shoulders drop and the tears coming down. She told us about her IT band that was giving her stabbing pain and she knew about 4 miles ago that she would have to DNF or she could seriously cause damage that could take her out the whole season. It was hard to see her so disappointed, but she definitely did the right thing. I was so proud of her, she trained so hard all winter and I know it was hard to have her first 50 miler be a DNF. Now we will both be working on our first 50 miler together in Oct. I am excited to train with her all summer and work on that goal with her. She is such a great friend and such an inspiration to me!!! Thanks Maurine for trusting me enough to be your pacer. I really felt lucky to have the opportunity to be the one to get you thru those last 17 miles. It will be even better doing the whole 50 with you. Great Job Maurine!!!!!!! Rest up good, we have a 12 miler on April 11! | |
| | After being out on Antelope Island with Maurine yesterday I decided I have to get a little more serious about my running. I am not going to make huge goals here and set myself up for failure, but I do plan to kick it up a knotch and try and improve. I need to shed some weight, work on my strength training and my speed. When I say speed I mean more 10 min. miles. The most important goal will be endurance for the 50 miler in Oct. I have been coasting thru the winter and now it is spring and the running season is here, I need to RUN !! Thanks for all the motivation from all of you on the blog, it is a huge boost for me! | |
| |
I took Odee over to the Porter Rockwell trail and did some cold winter running, it was a good time. I pushed alittle harder than my normal solo shuffle and was happy with my time. I will keep pushing up my speed very slowly and try to get up to doing a 10 min mile for a 6 mile run. I would like to be able to do the RHPC half marathon at a 10 mm pace.
6 miles 1:10 AP 11:53 I felt great, there were times I was below a 10 mm pace. I am excited!
| | I had to go the airport early this morning and so I missed my run, I have plenty of time to go today but once I get all dressed for the day I rarely undress and get on my running clothes and go out. Lazy girl. Julie just called, Paul had another seizure this morning and had to go to the ER, it was a small one,but scarey just the same. We thought that was behind us. They will not be joining us for our trip to Torrey for Easter now. Bummer. | |
| |
I had great intentions this morning, I bundled up in my winter clothes and got Odee in the car and drove to the PR trail, as I drove the storm became almost a white out, so I turned around, put poor sad Odee back in the house and went to the gym. I did the treadmill for as long as I could stand it, not long obviously. 3 miles AP 11:19 April 1st begins the "5 Pound April Contest without a scale" I resisted the urge to stand on it this morning, I am on my way! If anyone is interested in joining us and let's get off 5 pounds and be in great shape for Ogden!! Now off to make my eggwhite omlette.
Be nice today folks! I think I'll email Harold and tell him I am pregnant.
| | I am off to muscle up. I am loving this no scale thing a ton! I felt so good about it yesterday it wasn't even tempting this morning. I get to go to Paradise Bakery with an old HS friend today! Have a great day everyone! | |
| | Another snowy day, I took Odee for a mile walk in the park to warm up and then did one of my old regular routes that I haven't done in months. It is from my house up to the mouth of the Canyon to the 7-11. It is a little over 4 miles, but I shut my garmin down at 4 miles and do the rest as a cool down. 4 miles 48:03 AP 12:00 splits 12:52 / 12:28 / 10:58 / 11:08 This course is up hill the first 2 miles and then downhill. I am trying to keep track of my regular routes and try and better my time. Here are my regular routes that I have done that I have a record of this year: Old Mill Route ( very hilly) 6.30 miles AP 12:15 Porter Rockwell Trail( mostly flat, small hills) 6.00 miles AP 11:53 Mouth of Canyon Route(hilly) 4.00 miles AP 12:00 *** I need to run Maurines flat 7th East route and get a time for that and then keep track of my progress on those courses. As soon as the snow melts, I will keep records of my regular trail runs. **** I feel so organized! I am on a mission to get all these routes within a 10 mm mile 10:59 works! 10:?? works! | |
| | Woke up to snow AGAIN!! Hey, it is April 4th already! I picked up Maurine at 6:40 am and we drove to the Lehi JRP and met up with Marion, Rachel, Smooth and Luz. Maurine and Marion and I stuck together for most of the run and other girls went ahead. I struggled with lead legs and had a difficult time breathing, so I was not much fun to be with, I enjoyed listening to the girls talk and they could enjoy my heavy breathing. Marion said she could close her eyes to keep the snow out and stay on course because of my breathing, I was glad to be of some use. Maurine stopped at the car at mile 9 and Marion and I went on for another 5 miles, I got us lost, I am not sure what trail we were on but we ran into Luz who was lost in the wildnerness too. We made it back to the car at almost 14 miles, I was pooped. Smooth and Maurine had a smorgesboard of goodies and hot chocolate waiting for us in the back of my car, we all bundled in the car and fun chatting away for about a half hour or so and then all went our separate ways. Great run even in the sideways snow!!!! Thanks girls, I never could have gotten the miles in on my own in that weather!!! 12:46/12:32/13:00/13:32/14:16/13:40/14:18/15:20/15:31/15:06/14:56/15:25/12:59/15:14(.84) | |
| |
I took Odee up to Millcreek to run the Pipeline this morning. There is still way to much snow, but it is melting and I am optimistic it will be ready for running in a couple of weeks. We went on a beautiful 3 mile hike, blue skies, warm and it just felt so good to me up in the mountains again, the best part is the pine woodsy smell. Heaven.
I bought a annual pass today, I am always thinking I should and I finally did it this morning, I will make it worth it this year!!
| | I took Odee over to the Bonneville Shoreline trail. It is clear of snow for the most part, a few patches here and there. They are in the process of building a bridge over the first river crossing, so we can keep our feet dry this summer. Paul had 3 seizures last night, the last one was quite long and was pretty intense, they had to call an ambulance. He is back home now waiting to get an appt. with his neurologist. I am going to go stay with him while Julie goes to work. I am so glad I have a flexible work schedule so that I can be there for them. | |
| |
I did my run to the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. Last time I had an AP of 12mm, this morning I did with an AP of 11:15. I had to hurry home to do an appt. and then I am going to go back out for another run. It is perfect weather out right now.
I called Maurine and she met me at Wheeler Farm to run, she does it all the time, I had only done it once on a 5k with Maurine. It is such a great place! Lots of dirt trails weaving around this beautiful wooded area, and you can see some fun animals too. While we were running Julie called and said she and Paul wanted to come over and walk so when they got there Maurine took Odee and did some more running while I walked with the kids for a few minutes. I am going to be going over there alot! Thanks Maurine! Call me next time you go over on your lunch hour!
Oh, and since I am on a quest to find the worlds most perfect sugar cookie, I tried Kneaders, Kelli thinks they are the best and they are VERY VERY good, but I still prefer Paradise Bakery! Different strokes for different folks I guess.
| | It's raining. I did muscle-up today, I snuk (is that a word??) out 15 min. early, muscle-up is painful and I am a wuss. I guess I better work on this....next time I will try and stay 50 minutes. | |
| | I am off to Torrey for the weekend!!! Happy Easter and Happy Sat. Running!!!! | |
| | Harold and Odee and I did a run (Harold biked) on the Great Western trail down in Torrey. IT was hard, too much candy in the gut, vacation lazy mode and high elevation, but hey I did it! It was a great trip! | |
| |
I ran to the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon and found a new trail ! It was pretty steep and so I did a fair amount of walking, good ultra training. It was a beautiful day!
Busy day, off to get a massage and then Harold and I are actually going to use our Hale Theater tickets tonight. FUN!
| | Just yoga today! Crappy weather and I am helping out with Paul today. Have a GREAT DAY! | |
| | I got up in the dark and got on my running gear and it was raining and snowing like crazy! I took Odee around the park and came in to wait out the storm, still waiting.... I give up! | |
| | I am getting old! I got up and got my winter gear on AGAIN and went to the park with Odee to do a loop and the cement was icy and I slipped and fell. I went to the Rec. center and did 3 .50 on the treadmill, I felt tight and tense the whole time. Oh, well, better days are ahead. | |
| | Finally no snow on the ground, I wish I had time for a long run, but fridays are super busy for me. I ran up Bengal to Danish and along Danish. I was huffing and puffing like a freight train so I know I had a good work out, but my pace was very slow. Good luck to everyone doing the SLC marathon and half, Harold is doing the bike tour so I will look for you all!! |
| |
Harold and I got up at 4:30 am to get ready for the SLC Marathon Bicycle Tour. I dropped him off at the U and then came home and got dressed and then went down to the Gateway to pick him up. He did great and had a fun time. He said he was pretty tired, he hasn't been able to train so this was his first big ride of the season.
After we got home I told him I was going to run to Julie's new apt. down in Midvale and he said why don't you jump on the marathon route and run on the course. GREAT IDEA! I actually did it last year and I had forgotten how much fun it was. Harold dropped me off at the Corporate Center and I ran from the Cottonbottom Bar down to Liberty Park. 9 miles. It was great, music, aid stations and the motivation from the crowd. After I got to the park I walked around for another mile waiting for Harold to pick me up. I was super happy with my time for a 9 mile training run.
9 miles 1:44 AP 11:35
12:39 , 11:39 , 11:27 , 11:19 , 11:46 , 11:06 , 11:11 , 11:40 , 11:31
| | Wow! It is spring finally! I started running from my house and ran to the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon, 3 miles on road and 2 miles on trails. When I got to the big road condition sign I saw another runner, and I asked him if he had just gotten off the Little Cottonwood trail and he said yes and that it was clear of snow so I decided to give it a try. It was completely dry to the first bridge and then only about 30% clear to the second bridge. I was trudging in almost a foot of snow, so I turned around at that point. I had to smother myself in sunscreen it was so warm. FABULOUS! | |
| |
I just did a yoga class!
Maurine and Gary and I are doing an 18 miler on the parkway if anyone is interested. 7:00 am at the Winchester parking lot. Love to see you there!
| |
| | I retired from Snowbird today, I have been a massage therapist at the Cliff Spa for over 15 years and today I finished my last winter season and will not go back up next year! Woo Hoo! Now I can run whenever I want and be a princess and play all day!!! ( I wish) I celebrated by doing a route I have thought about doing for years, and it was fabulous, it will be a regular now. I run up to the Road Condition sign at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon and then turn right and go down to Wasatch Blvd., past LaCai and down Danish Road and home. It is about 5 miles up hill and then a nice 5 miles down. It couldn't have been a more beautiful day!!! | |
| | Just Muscle up today! Have a great day!!! | |
| |
Got up at 5:30 this morning to go meet Maurine and Twilight for a walk at Wheeler Farm, had fun chatting until stupid Odee jumped in the swift river and start stalking a duck, he was fighting the current and being a turd, we hollered at him for about 15 minutes before he would get out. He is grounded from our run tomorrow.
Came home and ran around the park.
| | I am pooped!!! Met Gary and Maurine at the JRP, we had a great time talking, I felt achy in my legs and joints from the start thru the finish. I need to get in better shape. By mile 16 I was dead and told the others to go ahead with out me, both Gary and Maurine felt strong and zipped away. I walked my sorry butt back to the car. I feel like I have run a marathon, ouch! Now off to a wedding shower, I will try and be perky, but I feel like climbing into bed for the rest of the day. I was glad to have Gary and Maurine's company, I just would never have made it. Thanks guys! Gary just moved here from Long Beach, he has run 3 ultras with me, I am hoping to get him on the blog, he is a great guy. | |
| | The plan was 5, did 2.66. My joints feel weak and unstable, and tender. They need a good rest today. I want to stay positive, so I better stop right now. | |
| |
Just got back from muscle-up, going to fix a protein shake and then off to yoga.
Then off to Costco. Papaya, dog food and protein powder and maybe a chocolate mocha drink at the snack bar!
| | A PERFECT run today!!! I had a great yoga class yesterday that did alot of hip openers and I got my stiff legs really stretched out. I felt so much better today. Gary came over at 7:00 and we drove to Draper and ran the BST. We played leap frog a bit, so we chatted some and then had times where we were running solo, it was great. I turned around at 5 miles and Gary kept going a bit, he probably did around 13 miles to my 10. Looks like this is going to be our Wed. routine. I LOVE the trails! My joints felt so much better and I mixed it up with hiking the hills. I think the air and mountains played a big part of me feeling so good. I am sticking to my plan of Tue and Thur being my Xtraining days, I will do muscle-up and yoga and when the outdoor pool opens up, I will do lap swimming as well. I feel really good about this schedule. | |
| |
Xtraining day! I slept in this morning, my arms were really stiff from muscle up on Tue., I just got back from yoga and got everything all stretched out and feel great. Now I am off to try the protein powder I got at Costco. I got the chocolate, I am going to put in berries, bananas and ground flax seed.
| |
Did a short 3.5 on the trail the goes from Wasatch Blvd. to the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. Short and Sweet. Now I have to go beautify the world!
Have a great weekend, let's pray for sunshine!
| |
Harold, Gary, Ernie ,Odee an I drove to the Draper BST trail and Gary and I took off running, Ernie and Harold were going to bike but decided to hike instead with the rain, they ended up going a mile or so and then went back to the car and went for breakfast while Gary and I ran to Corner Canyon and then onto the Porter Rockwell trail, the rain was coming down hard the whole time, actually it kept getting worse, so we called the guys to come pick us up and called it a day. Crappy weather, but still had a fun time, we are hoping to get one more decent long run before Ogden on Wed. and then taper. I am not ready for the marathon, but I have done marathons in this condition before and so I will survive!
| | A slow run this morning, I am feeling my age, I never got to that point where it felt comfortable, the joints felt stiff the whole run. I am shooting for 15 miles with Gary Wed. and then tapering for Ogden. Ogden will not be pretty, last year I felt so good at this time, things are not working right and I am not sure what to do, just take it slow I guess for now and keep plugging along. | |
| | I just got back from muscle up and have yoga in a couple of hours. Have a nice day, Love and Kisses, Granny
| |
| | TODAY WAS THE BEST RUN OF 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to back track to yesterday, I ran out of Naproxin, my prescription Ibprofen, so I went to Target to get it filled and they couldn't do it until they talked to my doctor, so I was bummed, because I have been feeling so horrible these last few months. Last night I took 3 200mg of Motrin, and then took 3 this morning and then met Gary and took off to Millcreek. We parked his car at Einsteins and mine at the top of the road where they close it for winter and ran up to Elbow Fork and then hopped on the Pipeline and ran all the way to the end and then turned around and ran down Rattlesnake Gulch. By the time we hit the road we were at about 11 miles. I had absolutely NO PAIN and felt like a million bucks the entire time. After about 10 miles I wanted to cry I was so happy. I felt like a kid, tons of energy and loving every minute of it. So, at mile 11 we hit the road and ran on the side of the road for almost 2 miles to Einsteins, we were doing about a 10:?? minute mile pace. So we get to the car and realized Gary's keys were in my car at the top of the canyon so, Gary, being half superman runs back up the canyon 5 miles to get the car and I speed walk up to Church Fork and hike up to get my jacket I left hidden. Our timing was perfect, Gary pulled up just as I got back to the road. I am sure that the Naproxin is the culprit here, I am so glad the prescription wasn't filled. The moral of this story is doctors don't always know what is best!! I am buying stock in Motrin. Another plus for my great run was, #1 a FABULOUS TRAIl, #2 Amazing weather #3 Great Company. I feel like have been given a new lease on life!!!!!!!! Watch out Ogden, here I come!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone for all your helpful comments, I am going to figure out a way to adjust my training and get better, but I think I figured out the number one problem today!!!!
| |
| |
I took Odee for a little walk on the trails to stretch out my legs, they are a little sore, but a good sore, that showed me I had a good run yesterday. I am going to do my yoga stretches at home and stay out of the gym today. I am going to work in my garden today and then celebrate my step daughters birthday tonight. Have a great day!
| |
| |
This morning I showed Ardath the new trail I discovered afew weeks ago at the base of Little Cottonwood. We hiked and visted, a great start to my weekend.
I have decided to do 8 miles on Pipeline tomorrow, I can't bare the thought of a hard road. Maurine, if you come with me you could run ahead and run down the canyon for more miles.
| |
Maurine and I did the Pipeline this morning. We started at Birch Hollow and ran to the SLC Overlook and back. Beautiful way to start the day! Thanks Maurine! Zippy Maurine went ahead of me and ran down the canyon and I picked her up in the car. Lots of runners were out this morning, fun atmosphere!
Now off to work in the garden!
| | I forgot to take my Motrin this morning, my legs felt sore and the joints felt unstable. I am sure yesterdays's Mother's Day feasting didn't help much either. Oh, well, it is Monday. I ended up hiking up the Little Cottonwood trail, there was no desire to pick up the feet and run going up or down. | |
| |
Yoga is it for today! A little walk with Odee maybe.
I am bummed for Maurine and Smooth, heal fast!
| |
| | Odee and I got up early and ran the Pipeline trail in Millcreek. All my working parts seem to be working properly! I am looking forward to Ogden. | |
| |
I did a hike in Corner Canyon to show Jana some new biking trails, the canyon is a mess with construction. I hate running in the afternoon, so I didn't, just walked, it is all for the taper, yeah right, my lazy butt!!!
Hopefully I will see you at the Expo, I am heading up at 3:00 with Gary.
| |
Ardath and I and Odee had a great run on the Pipeline this morning! What a beautiful morning!
I am so excited to go to the expo tonight and hopefully see all my running buddies!!
| Race: |
Ogden Marathon (26.2 Miles) 06:07:00
Is this the same race that I LOVED last year? Oh, how one year can make a differance!! Last year I ran it in 5:23 and felt like a million bucks at the finish line. This year every step was painful and I did it in 6:07. I still enjoyed it, but it has sure got me thinking!! Thank goodness for Gary and for an early start. Gary and I got off the bus and started walking, we had fun having the road to ourself and laughing to all the aid stations and the cops that we were the first place runners. No one seemed concerned! It was a beautiful day, I enjoyed the scenery and Gary's company. We saw the first place runners zip by us at almost the 10 mile mark. Scott was the first person I recognized, but he was past me so quickly I dare not yell at him and have him break his stride. Then I was looking for Kelli, I would have never missed the dark curly haired cutie, and sure enough at about the 12 1/2 point she zipped by and gave me a sweet little greeting , she looked also very strong and focused. AT a about mile 15 some said "are you Leslie?" and it was Lori Metcalf!!! How fun is this to know all these awesome runners. My hubby and Ernie were at mile 17, the dam crossing, to take pictures, I will see if he can down load it on my blog later At this point Gary took off not to be seen again until the fiinish line. Running down the canyon, I am not sure just where, this little yellow and black bumble bee pasted me, I thought to myself that could be Smooths double, but I found out later it was HER!! I can't wait to read her race report. I limped thru the rest of the race, I had way to many motrin and nothing seemed to help. I had no juice left to finish strong, just dragged my tired exhausted fanny over the finish line, like a worn out old woman.
I sat with Gary on the grass and he looked like he had just run a 5K and was feeling chipper, I sat there and ate a creamie and saw Smooth and Kelli, but by the time I got my crippled body off the grass to go say hello they were gone, then Kelli popped back into the picture and I got to chat with her for a few minutes. She told me about Scott's race, you need to read Kelli's blog for the details, but that was very disapointing.
Met up with Harold and Gary and Ernie and ate lunch at Roosters, came home and showered and slept. I can not believe no race reports are out yet. My two oldest children called me, and my son told me to stay away from the road races and get back on the trails. This race was nasty for me, mean to the core, and I am considering not doing UVM and Park City and just doing trails and then St. George, St. George is an absolute must until I die. This will be year number 13 and DNFED in the storm last year, so I need to redeem myself.
Time to really focus after a week off! And I have to drop 10 pounds, I was up 6 pounds since TOU last year, and I know that is part of the problem, I am way to heavy. If I can get 10 pounds off by UVM and feel like I have increased my fitness level some, I may give it a try, but I am keeping my options open. Oh, and the 50 miler???? Holy cow!!! I really need to rethink that one!!!! Who do I think I am fooling??
This was tougher than most marathons for me. I have now 3 super slow "over 6 hour marathons" now and this is one of them, but I also have 17 marathons under my belt and am happy I can still run ( or hobble or waddle or whatever the heck you want to call it!) The crazy thing is I still love it pain and all!!! It was a fun day!!! Thanks Gary and Ernie and Harold for your undying support!!! I love you guys!!!
| |
Took Odee out for a one mile walk, I am still very stiff!!
Okay, it is time for an adjustment on my running schedule and game plan. I have decided not to run UVM unless I drop 10 pounds and feel like my fitness level has improved. Ogden was a huge wake up call for me. I really want to complete the slam so I am going to be very focused, so hopefully I will finally get these 10 pounds off that I have been working on for 2 years.
I am also not planning on the OV50. 50 miles of road running would kill me. So I am taking that one off my calendar and I will not add anything else until I am in better shape.
I am not even depressed about this, I feel like I am just being sensible and adjusting as my conditions change. Who knows what I will feel like after St. George, maybe I will plan a 50k, just not sure, but I think a 50 miler is not in the cards.
Whew, that was a relief! I am not running all week, I am going to enjoy my recovery time! Next weekend Harold and I are back packing in Southern Utah, so I need to rest up!
| |
I am really enjoying my recovery! I am going to go spend the morning with Paul, maybe go on a bike ride or take a dip in the pool.
Have a great day! | |
| |
I am still enjoying my recovery, I am taking the rest of the week off and then Harold and I are going to be hiking down in Escalante over the weekend.
I have lost 4 of my 10 pounds and am feeling like I am going to make my goal and run UVM! Life is good!!!
| |
Hello from the liesure queen! I just got back from a fabulous lunch at Market Street Grill with Ardath, no exersize today. I am loving it!!!
| |
| |
Did a 3 mile hike to the falls behind dad's house with the family. |
| | My first run since Ogden. A beautiful run thru Capital Reef on red dirt trails. Amazing scenery and weather. My dad dropped me off and picked me up after he went birding. I didn't see a soul on the entire length of the trail. Slow and easy, no pain, just perfect. I have been talking to my sons and dad about my running, they are all in agreement that if I want to run another 10 years I need to stay on the trails, something that I think about often and have mentioned on my blog, I am going to try and stick with this plan, it was awesome today to be in such beautiful country and enjoy the soft trails and feel no pain. I am going to be in Torrey until Thursday with my son Tracey working on my folk's ranch, it has been so much fun to spend some time with my family. Julie and Paul and Chris were here for awhile, but have left, so it is just Tracey and I for the rest of our trip. Enjoy your running! Stay injury free and eat some sugar cookies for me!! Last night we went to Cafe Diablo and had the most amazing meal EVER!!! Good-bye from the desert! | |
| | I am back home now and trying to get back into gear after Ogden and then a week vacation. I did a nice easy 3 miler this morning on my new trail at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon. Now off to play catch up on the house and all my ladies. | |
| |
Harold and I did our first bike/run of the summer together. It was so much fun we got to the Birch Hollow trailhead about 7:30 am and stayed together until Rattlesnake Gulch, he then decided to take off down the gulch and ride his bike home and get busy on some yard work. I went on to the SLC overlook and then turned around and headed back and low and behold I came upon my most favorite homie MAURINE! I decided to turn around and head back to the overlook so we could catch up on all the lastest and put in a few more miles. It was a great morning. Now it is off to run errands and then Harold is going to see Terminator with grandson and I am going to stay home and play Susie Homemaker and make cool stuff with my new wheat grinder ( Maurine, I couldn't resist buying one, I know you were going to let me borrow one, but I got a killer deal and I will enjoy having one I can use with out driving over to get yours, thanks anyway- anytime you want to make bread come on over, I have lots of counter space!)
For the record, I have not run on pavement since Ogden, and all my chubby parts are working well, the slow trail runs are my friend, I have not had one Motrin or pain drug in two weeks. I think I might change my blog title to Trail Running Granny!!! I am trying to talk my cute hubby into getting on the blog to track his biking miles, and then we can write love notes to each other, does that make you want to puke? :)
| | Ardath and Odee and I put in at Rattlesnake Gulch and hiked/ran to the overlook and back. Nice way to start the week! | |
| | Xtraining day! Muscle up and Yoga | |
| | I knew we were jumping the gun a bit but I was so excited to get on the Wasatch Crest trail that I made Gary come with me to check it out. Gaurdmans Way is still closed, but that didn't stop us, we parked the car and hiked to the trail head. There was still some snow on the road. Puke Hill had lots of snow too, about 3 ft. sometimes more, the Crest was spotty, snow, then dry, but after awhile it was just too much snow and we turned around. More hiking than running this morning, but it was beautiful out and we had a great time. Gary ran ahead of me at the end and got in another mile. | |
| |
I had breakfast downtown with a cousin from California, took my hubby a Paradise Bakery muffin, I am getting all my appts. taken care of and packing so I can head off the beach house bright and early tomorrow morning.
Good luck on staying healthy and enjoy your taper for UVM!!! I will be thinking of you all while basking in the sun and drinking my pina coladas!!!
| |
4 miles on the beach with Harold and Jana. We ran down by the water so it wasn't sandy, beautiful.
We can't get our computers to work at the beach house, Julie needed to do some computer work so we are at a coffe shop in San Clemente, I probably won't be posting until I get home. Life is good, we are getting the royal treatment from my folks. None of the grandkids are here, so we are dining out at fancy resturants and enjoying the peace and quiet. The weather couldn't be better. I want to be a beach bum forever.
| | 4 miles on the beach with harold |
| | 4 more beach miles....heaven |
| | 4 mile walk to San Clemente with harold |
| | Harold and I rode our bikes to Dana Point and back, 7 miles, it is our last day at the beach house, we have had a great restful time and should come home ready to get back to work and life. | |
| |
Harold and I did 6 miles up Millcreeek Canyon, we beat the rain.
I am anxiously waiting for all the UVM reports to come rolling in. I have been thinking of you all this morning and wishing you a wonderful race day experience!!
| | I got up at 5:00am this morning and took Odee for a quick run around the park and then drove up to the mouth of the canyon and did the whole Little Cottonwood trail for the first time this summer. No snow, but parts of the trail were a river with all this rain. Lovely mornning, even that early I saw 5 other runners and about 6 mountain bikers on the trail. | |
| | Just got back from muscle-up, I don't think I have any ab muscles at all, poor me. Yoga at 10:30 and then lunch with my very dear friend from Hawaii!! | |
| |
Decided to run on the road today, 5 miles nice and slow, no pain. Hummm..... maybe once a week?
Have a great day!!! | |
| |
Plan A was to hike with Kim from Corner Canyon up to the outlaw cabin on the trail to Lone Peak, but the rain and mudslides last night put a stop to that.
Plan B - I just got back from another road run, I have decided that I can do roads as long as I am feeling okay and I keep the miles low, and save my long runs for the trail. When I run on the road there is the embaressment factor of having my friends drive by and seeing how ridiculously slow I am, but I can live with that. Kim and I are going to do yoga and then lunch. Nice.
| | Last night I made plans to meet Maurine at Birch Hollow at 6:30am this morning. Late last night I went to get a coke with my little chicks and I told them of my plans and they decided they would come along. Des and Lisa ( we missed not having our baby chick Jenny!) drove up with me. I headed off with Maurine and ran with her for about a mile until she had to make a pit stop, I went back to check on my chicks, and found them having a nice time walking so I turned around and went back to catch up with Maurine and of course I never saw her again, and then didn't see the baby chicks until I got back to the car. It was pretty much a solo run, but it was nice to know I three great friends sharing the trail with me on such a beautiful morning. Thanks Maurine, Des and Lisa, and if you are reading this Jenny, we missed you last night at Zuppas and on the trail!!!!!! | |
| |
I wasn't up for a rainy day run, 3 miles on the Cottonwood trail and was soaking wet.
I have been thinking of all the WBR runners, and wishing them a fun DRY time!
Is it too much to ask for perfect weather? Snow, then heat, then rain.....
| |
Odee and I did a nice easy trail run from Birch Hollow to the Overlook and back. Finally we had perfect weather! I think the upper Millcreek Road opens July 1st and then we will have more options!
Tomorrow I head off to Misquite and St. George with my girls and mom, we are going to see Footloose at Tuachan and have massages and lounge by pool in Misquite, and of course play the penny slots with granny!!! Woo hoo!
| |
Did muscle up this morning and then decided to try something new. I went over to track at Brighton High and decided to take baby steps on some speed work. I warmed up and then did one mile with an AP of 8:53, I had to stop my garmin twice to catch my breath, but was super happy with that time. I think I will do this more often it was really pretty fun!
Now it is off to St. George and Mesquite! Be safe guys!!! Wish me luck on the penny slots!!
| |
I got back from our trip last night, now I need to get back to my running! I did a short 3 mile run, I have a super busy day getting all my appts. caught up.
Have a great weekend! | |
| |
Great trail run this morning. Gary and Harold and I put in at Gaurdsman and ran the Crest to Desolation Lake and then down to the Mill D trail head. Harold rode his bike all the way home and Gary and I drove up the canyon to get my car. Perfect morning.
| | We are up at our Snowbird condo for the weekend, it is gorgous. We have already seen 2 moose. We had a great dinner at the Steak Pit. This morning we took a nice 2 mile walk around the resort. |
| |
Ardath and Odee and I did the Pipeline this morning. We started at Birch Hollow and I ran up towards Elbow Fork and then turned around and ran to the overlook and back. It was nice to have Ardath with me, I kept thinking I would catch up to her and she was so fast I hardly saw her on the trail, but we got to talk in the car and it was great knowing we were sharing the trail. I also ran into my friend Jenny from NPR, a double treat!
PM Harold and I did part of the Cottonwood trail after work. We saw our friend Steve!
| |
I was hoping to get in a muscle up class but too much going on. I have a busy work day and my parents are going to be coming to stay for the night. My dad is speaking at Sam Weller's funeral, looks like I am having a day off!
Have a great day!
| |
| | A great trail run with Gary. We started at the bottom of Rattlesnake Gulch ran up to Elbow Fork on the Pipeline and up to Mt. Aire. It was a real steep climb from Elbow to Mt. Aire. I actually only made it to the saddle and Gary made the summit. | |
| | I had a great hike up to White Pine Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon with Kim. The last mile was on snow fields. The Lake was spectacular. I was pleasantly surprised that the climb didn't bother me after my tough day yesterday. I must be getting stronger!! | |
| |
Today we are heading up to Huntsville for Harold's family reunion camp out. No running until next week.
I hope you all have a nice long run Sat. or race! See ya Monday!
| | I woke up early and took a walk around the little valley where we were camping, left the hubby and grandkids sleeping peacefully. I got in my 40 miles this week, I am hoping to keep my miles to at least 40 or more for the rest of the summer. | |
| |
Did a 5.50 mile trail run with Odee, real slow, hiked alot of it.
1 hour of weight training, focused on upper body
| |
| |
Went to the Brighton High track again to do speed work, I do it like a hill billy, I am not at all technical in my training. I warmed up and then pushed it for 1 mile, I had to stop my garmin several times to catch my breath. My 1 mile push was at a 9:15 mm pace, that is slower than my last time by almost 30 seconds.
I did one hour of lower body and ab strengthening at the gym.
With all my slow trail running, I will be ridiculously slow at the RHPC half. Please save me a cookie!!! Oh, and is there a booby prize???? It will be a fun time!!
I am a dork, Kim came by to go hiking, and I forgot to write it in my day planner, we ended up walking Odee one mile on the trails up by Bywater Park and the cemetary.
| |
I got up this morning to go to my strength training class at 5:00. I was sore when I woke up. Mon. we did upper body, and Tue. lower body, I hurt from head to toe. We did upper body again, thought I was going to die. We also did 3 miles on the treadmill. This is brutal.
The plan was to meet Gary in Park City at 7:00a and run the Mid-Mountain trail marathon route. I knew it was a bad idea because my body felt crippled, but I couldn't resist. I have wanted to try that route for several years, and Gary was game so I decided to give it a try. I new from the get go I was going to struggle, I plugged along, half running, half shuffling, thank goodness Gary is super patient with me. He loves the plant life and spent alot of time checking out the wildflowers and taking mental notes so he could check his books when he gets home. I am glad he has this interest so he can do something while he is waiting for me. Usually we know the routes and he can just run ahead, but this was new territory. There are SO many trails on those mountains, we got off on the wrong trail several times. Hours later, we get to a sign that said14 miles to an access out of the canyon, I told Gary to go ahead and I would start down and he could pick me up on the main road. I headed down and got lost, I had to back track up about a mile and half up a super steep mountain and was about to die. I finally made it down and called Gary and told him where I was and fell sleep in a shady spot off the road. Dumb, I should have stretched, my legs froze up and I felt like a 90 year old woman. Long story short, Gary made the whole 26 miles, I did about 17 in Park City and 3 in the gym, so I had a big day. I need to take it easy so I can do the RHPC Half without a walker!!
| | I am very stiff and sore and exhausted. I did my class this morning, they worked on legs, and my legs are trashed from all my strength training and the 20 miler yesterday. I am going to try and take it easy today, and take a nap! | |

Our class met at Hillcrest High. I ran 38 flights of stadium stairs and ran on the track. Killer! Now I need to take it easy, I will probably be sore for the RHPC half, but oh, well, it is all for fun!! See you all tomorrow!!!
Dang, I wish I was fast, I want the CHICKEN!!!!!!
| Race: |
RHPC's 10K (6 Miles) 01:40:00, Place overall: 2
Here is a link to the pictures of the race: http://photobucket.com/RHPC?track=share_email_album_view_click Then click on Harold Peterson and there are 116 pictures to view.
What a fun time!! The park was filled with pink! I think there were about 38 people running. Marion did a great job organizing this, I think it will be a wonderful tradition! The grand prize ceramic gaudy chicken was the ultimate reward! I know deep in everyone's heart we all wanted it to adorn our elegant dinning room tables!!
My plan was to be the sweeper, but I was a lousy one, Marion had to get the crowd off and she and I ended up running together, she was having stomach problems, and I was exhausted from my week, so we enjoyed chillin' in the back and talking. Marion also wanted to be at the finish line to see all her chicks come in.
So we made it a 10k and turned around and went back to the park!
It was so fun to see all the fun outfits, tutus, wild stockings, it was great! Lots of yummy food and fun gifts for everyone. Most of us got a CD with running chick music as well! We had some brave men that joined us to add to the fun!
Harold was a great photographer, he has well over a hundred shots, he will get them together and we will let you know how you can view them.
What fun friends! Thanks for the great time, especially Marion and Michelle!!!

I did 3 miles at my class this morning, and then 3 miles with Ardath. We hiked from Lower Big Water to the intersection of the Great Western Trail and the Dog Lake trail. We ran into the Skyline Cross Country team.
Oh, and we did upper body in class today.
| |
Bootcamp kicked it up a notch, I didn't think it was possible. I did 72 burpies and a zillion other exersizes. I hope I can hold my arms up to cut hair today.
I am taking Odee over to the Old Mill Res. for a walk.
| |
I was supposed to run with Gary, but I guess he isn't coming. I am not motivated to get out there on my own this morning. I was lucky I made it thru bootcamp, my arms were so sore I almost skipped out on class this morning, I am glad I made it, but I am really tired and think I will take the rest of the day off. Actually I think I will crawl back into bed for awhile.
I met Maurine for a hike up Little Cottonwood Canyon, the hike killed me, I am in a fragile state with all this bootcamp crap. Maurine was kind enough to hike with me for 2 miles and then she took off. It was nice to visit. It was killer hot!
| |
Last night Harold gave me an excellent massage, he worked my arms and back over like a skilled professional, I woke up feeling so much better. I actually did pretty good at bootcamp. It is my 8th day, and I can feel alittle muscle building in my arms. It is working!
Kim and I hiked up to Catherine's Pass and then up to Sunset Peak. The wildflowers are in full bloom, it was a spectacular morning. Then Fish Tacos at Lone Star. Now a nap. Paradise. I love my life.
| |
Bootcamp was at Hillcrest High. It sure was nice not wearing a 30lb. vest today. I gave myself 4 miles for an hour of running the stadium. My stiffness is all gone, for now, I am sure next week will be tough as well, but hopefully the worst is behind me.
A year ago today Paul had his rugby accident. His progress is slow but steady. On this day, I am so grateful for family and so proud of my daughter for her love and devotion to Paul.
| |
Harold and I met Steve Horstmanhoff, Steve and Sharon Clark and John and Kim Stucki in the parking lot at Einsteins on 3900S. and carpooled up to Gaurdmans, we met at 6:30 but had to futz around with things and didn't get off until just after 7:00, we saw the Wasatch Crest Shuttle loading up and new we were cutting it close. Sharon and I were the only runners, we took off and everyone else caught up with us about 4 miles into our run, and then we played leap frog. Beautiful day, but next time, we will go WAY earlier. Harold and I have done it at 5:00am and used flash lights going up Puke Hill and then watching the sun come up and run without all the bike traffic. It was freaking Grand Central Station up there. It was still a fun time and can't wait to get back up there again!!!!! This is my favorite trail run ever!!!!
Woohoo! I just noticed I have made 40 miles for my last three weeks!!
| |
I had bootcamp at 5:00a, it was a hard upper body work out, but I am getting used to this and as hard as it is, I am loving it. I love getting up at 4:20 and getting my work out in and then heading up to hike/run with friends in the mountains.
This morning I picked up Ardath at 6:30 and we drove to the Upper Millcreek parking lot, when we got out of the car it was 49 degrees, when we got back to the car it was 58 degrees. It is shady on the Great Western and Dog Lake trails. I think the Pipeline is too exposed for the heat we have now, so our plan to stay high was perfect. We had a great time, not anywhere near the foot/bike traffic we had on Sat. By the time we got home, at 9:30 it was 78 degreees. I would not want to hike or run in that much heat. I am lucky to have the mountains in my backyard.
| |
Oh my goodness, I have gone from being scared to death and intimated by bootcamp to LOVING it!! I never in a million years thought I could enjoy strength training. I come out of there soaking wet and feeling like a million bucks! It is so hard, but so satisfying, why did it take me 54 years to realize this? I guess I am a slow learner! I finally dropped 2 pounds, the weight is coming off slow, but my clothes fit better and I feel stronger every day.
Julie asked me to help her start running. I was thrilled she asked for my help. We ran on the JRP today. We did a 10 min. warm up and then ran 2 min. and walked 2 min. and then did a 10 min. cool down. We did 3.25 miles together. I am so happy that Julie is doing something for herself, she has been consumed with Paul's care and has not made time for herself. I hope I can get her hooked!! I was very proud of her. We took her cute new puppy Ziggy with us, she is an adorable Goldendoodle! I am going to run with her tomorrow too.
| | Another great work out at bootcamp! 3.33 miles with Julie on the JRP, a tiny bit faster than yesterday. | |
| |
Kim and I hiked Clayton Peak in Big Cottonwood Canyon. We got lost and did alot of bushwacking and bouldering. The peak is over 10,000 ft. the views were spectacular and there were tons of wildflowers. Then went to Lone Star for their famous fish tacos and ice tea!!
Boot camp was a lower body work out today, tough, but I am getting tougher, it is fun to actually feel myself getting stronger.
| |
Ran and did the stadium stairs for one hour with Bootcamp.
Now I am ready for Butlerville Days and all the family to come play at our house tonight.
HAPPY 24TH OF JULY!!!!!
| | Kim and I hiked around Solitude while our guys mountain biked. Easy day, talked about books and stuff. Nice. | |
| | Kim, Ardie and I hiked to Sunset Peak this morning. The wild flowers were even more beautiful than they were two weeks ago. This much fun should be illegal. Ardie treated us to fish tacos at Lone Star. Life doesn't get any better than this! | |
| | Had a great workout at Bootcamp. I decided to try running on the road after class, I haven't run in several weeks, I have been hiking only while doing bootcamp. I went out for 3 miles, ran 2 miles and walked one mile. My motivation to run wasn't there. Hummmmm...... oh well, I am getting in alot of crosstraining and enjoying it, so I guess it is all good. I am concerned about Park City, I will definitely have to start early and do alot of walking. | |
| |
Upper body work out at Bootcamp. We have a new recruit and it is so entertaining to watch some one else wear the 30lb vest and be screamed at all hour. It is a riot. It is funny that they can be so horrid during Hellweek and then so nice for the rest of the time. I thought our 30ish man was going to cry today. Hahahaha! I am so evil!
Did 3.27 with Julie, this week we are doing run 3 min. and walk 1 min. She did great! At the end of our hour session I told Julie to push it for 1 min. and she ran .09 of a mile, I am keeping track of her time here so we can see her progress.
| | So far just Bootcamp today. I was supposed to run with Julie this morning, but Paul had another seizure last night. Poor kid, he seems to have about 2 a month or so. I am not in the mood to run or hit the trails today, guess I will rest up for the stadium stairs tomorrow. | |
| |
Ran the stadium for bootcamp this morning. Nice and cool, had fun, about 80 people.
I am doing the Little Cottonwood trail at 3:00 with Maurine today and will post my miles tonight.
Have a great weekend!
PM Nice trail run with Maurine up Little Cottonwood Canyon!!!!!! Thank goodness she wore her 5 Fingers so I could keep up with her!! It felt good. Thanks Maurine it was fun to catch up with you.
| |
Hiked to Sunset Peak again with Harold, maybe I have it out of my system now. Beautiful morning.
Tonight we are going to dinner and to the Canyons for a free concert with Kim and John.
| |
Upper body work out at bootcamp.
6 miles on the Pipeline with Ardie. Bumped into Emily on the trail. Lots of runners out this morning.
| |
lower body work out at bootcamp
Hiked from Mill D to Desolation Lake with Kim. My legs were so trashed from bootcamp that my knees gave out 4 times on the trail, and I fell on my butt, it was a slow motion fall that didn't hurt, but I felt like a silly drunk that couldn't stay upright.
| |
A new instructor at bootcamp, he was trying to impress the boss I think and about killed us. My arms will probably not work tomorrow.
I am off to do my run with Julie, I will probably come back and adjust my mileage.
My legs are still sore from yesterdays bootcamp and my 3 1/2 hour hike. And why is the scale not moving? oh, yeah, because I am consuming so many calories to keep up my energy, I don't know if I will ever find the right balance, but I am happy to feel strong and healthy.
| |
Lower body work out at bootcamp.
Did 3 miles with Julie and Ziggy. Late for work, see ya! Have a great day!
| | Ran the track at bootcamp this morning. | |
| | I was afraid to go up in the mountains with questionable weather. I ran from my house to the Jordon River Parkway and met Julie and did 3 miles with her. Nice and overcast. I should put in another 9 this afternoon, but I doubt it will happen, lots to do today. | |
| |
A funny morning.
3 miles on the treadmill at boot camp
1 mile in the neighborhood, then had to take a potty break
1 mile around the park with Ardath
6 miles on the JRP with Julie and Ardath and Ziggy.
Total 11 miles of running/walking
| |
3 miles at bootcamp, plus a lower body workout.
4.60 miles on the road
mile 1 (uphill) 12:13
mile 2 (uphill) 11:50
mile 3 walked the whole thing
mile 4 (downhill) 8:50!!!!!!!!! Holy Cow!!!!!! I was hoping for a 10min mile so I was super super happy with that!!!!!
Have a great day everyone!
| | 3 miles at bootcamp. Done. Harold had to work until almost midnight to make a deadline, and I couldn't sleep without him, I am tired, I really struggled thru bootcamp. Julie just called and said she wanted to cancel our run, great minds think alike. Off for a nap now. | |
| |
Bootcamp 3 miles
3 mile walk with Julie, now off to a busy day, my energy level seems to be much better today, yesterdays rest was just what I needed.
| |
3 miles at bootcamp. Off to work, have a great weekend everybody!
|
| |
My plan was to do a long run from my house to the Farmer's Market downtown, but it started raining buckets and there was lightening and thunder, I called Harold and had him pick me up. Hopefully it will be dry this evening and I get in a few more miles. The thought of PC next weekend sends chills up my spine. Gary said he would pace me, but that will be a painful test of his patience, I have not put in my homework. I will have about 5 weeks after PC to train for St. George, heaven help me!!!
PM - 2 mile hike with Harold
| | 2 mile hike with Harold and Odee on the Pipeline. | |
| | Bootcamp this morning and a 2.50 mile walk. | |
| | I had the most brutal lower body work out at bootcamp, and then hiked Gobblers Knob with Kim. It was a hard climb, but so worth it. We did the round trip in 5 hours. We could see from the peak, SLC, Brighton and Park City, it was like being on top of the world. That was our grand finale for our summer hiking, Kim is a teacher and goes back to school next week. We have been doing this for 10 years now, a wonderful summer tradition. | |
| |
3 miles at Bootcamp
3 miles with Julie | |
| |
I was going to sleep in this morning and not go to bootcamp since I have the marathon sat., but at 4:15 I was wide awake, I went to bootcamp and did a modified version of what everyone else was doing, mostly walking on the treadmill, it felt good to take it easy.
Now I am heading off to do 3 miles with Julie.
I pick up my packet at Wasatch Running today, and get my blocks and gu, I am getting excited about Park City, my only goal is to cross the finish line. It is a beautiful course, it will be a great day.
| |
GOOSE EGG!!!! hahaha! I slept in until 7:45, it was sinfully delicious!!! No exersize today for me!!!! I am excited about PC tomorrow, see you there!!!
| Race: |
Park City Marathon (26.2 Miles) 06:02:00
Park City went just as I was hoping. I was hoping for about a 6 hour time, since it was a training run for SG, I just wanted to finish feeling good, mission accomplished, I feel great!!!! The bootcamp has helped, I had no aches or pains, my legs felt much stronger than they did during Ogden. Gary and Maurine and I started at 5:40 and ran together for 6 miles and then Maurine took off. Gary paced me the whole way, it was great to have him there, he is always so positive and fun to be with. Saw several friends along the way, Rachel and Smooth at about mile 14, Ben at mile 16, Karen at mile 18, and a real treat was this handsome young man that came up to me and said, are you Leslie Peterson? He was the race director from the Red Mountain 50K and recognized me, he rememebered Gary too, and we chatted for awhile. He said there is going to be a Red Mountain 50K next year. It is my all time favorite race!!!!! Sorry no splits or any more details, it just doesn't matter, it was a beautiful day and I feel like a million bucks. Harold is going to give me a massage now, and then we are going to the Gallivan Center to see a Kalai Concert. Oh, after the race, Ernie and Gary and Harold and I ate at Squaters. It is a most perfect day!! Thank you Gary for hanging with me, you are an excellent Sherpa and Pacer and friend.
| |
I just did a 3 mile hike with Julie and the dogs on the Pipeline. I was so happy to wake up to zero pain. This is huge for me. I can go up and down stairs without any problems and use the toliet without assistance!! Thank you Bootcamp!!!!
Have a great Sunday!
Harold, Devante and I took a short hike up to the Bell's Canyon Res. this afternoon. Legs are still feeling great, this is pretty exciting for me.
| | Bootcamp was extra hard this morning, I think I will call it good for the day. | |
| | We did a cardio leg work out at bootcamp. Extremely tough. Ran 1 mile around the park after class. | |
| |
Bootcamp was INSANE!!! 3.20 miles with Julie on the parkway.
Short and sweet, need to get ready to beautify the world!! haha! Have a great day!
2 mile walk this afternoon
| |
Bootcamp has been super hard this week, is it the instructors kicking it up a knotch, or that my body is really just lagging from the marathon, not really sure, I had no stiffness or soreness after the race, but maybe my body is still in recovery mode. Anyway, another butt kicking session, on acouple of the crazy exersizes they have you do, they had to take all the weights off me so I could use proper form, I was the only one who had to do them all sissyfied. Oh well, most of the people in the class are kids in there 20 and 30's, so it is not too bad that have to drop the weights for the Trail Running Granny, I guess.
Off to run with Julie!
Have a great day! | |
| |
Bootcamp at Hillcrest today, running the stadium. It was actually really fun.
Have a great weekend everybody!
| |
Ran the parkway with Julie for part of the time and then with Laura White. Lots of runners out for the the SLC teaser training run.
Did an evening run with Maurine and Odee on the Pipeline. Maurine treated me to dinner at Zupas!!!! Thanks Maurine!!!
Note to Maurine: I should have let you believe I was faster than a speeding bullet! But I can not tell a lie!
| |
Bootcamp was an upper body work out today.
Did a 6 mile hike with Ardath on the Desolation trail. It was a nice hike to start out the week.
| | I just got back from Bootcamp, I am not sure if I am going to run or not. | |
| |
Bootcamp and then 6 miles with Julie. I did speed work today. My garmin is busted, so I have no idea how fast I was, but I was booking it granny style!!! hahaha!!
It's almost Friday and then the long weekend. We are going to Torrey, the happiest place on earth! :) I will have 3 of my 4 kids, yippee!!! Slot canyons, arches and family fun!
| |
I forgot to set my alarm and woke up 10 minutes before bootcamp. If you are late, you have to do 10 push-ups for every minute you are late, I opted to play hookie. I am into this 8 weeks now and this is my first sluff, not bad. It felt good to sleep in.
My run with Julie was also canceled due to Paul having 2 seizures last night, Julie didn't dare leave him, so I opted out of that as well. It is kind of nice to have a day off. I took Julie down my juicer and a bunch of carrots and apples, she is going to try and get Paul off of processed foods, since his stroke he has lost his appetite and wants a lot of junk food, we think a healthier diet will help, even if he is not excited about it, he is at Julie's mercy and I think she is going to insist he eats better.
As a side note, I am down 5 pounds from bootcamp, and down one dress size. I feel alot stronger and am really pleased with the results. I have 4 weeks to go. I am hoping for another 5 pounds now that my nutrition is on the right path. That will have me at a decent weight for St. George.
Have a great long weekend, and good luck on all your races and your time off!
| |
| |
Bootcamp at Hillcrest. Love those bleachers! I am now running up them skipping a stair at a time and feeling like Rocky!!!!!! My instructor had me tell of my experience at bootcamp to all the new and old classmates. I shared about how I ran the Ogden Marathon and how all my joints and my whole body hurt, and then did bootcamp and ran Park City and it was painless, no stiffness or soreness at all! Bootcamp has really made a huge differance in my fitness level. I also told them that the first six week course I didn't drop a pound, but I am in the 3rd week of my second session and I am following the nutrition plan have dropped 5 pounds. I have really enjoyed this exprience and have learned so so much!!! I am a believer in Bootcamp!!!
Now I have to pack up and head south to Torrey!!!! Have a great weekend. Good luck Smooth on the SF 1/2 and everyone else who is running!!!!!!!
| |
Harold and I and our friends Ernie and Gary hiked Spooky and Peekaboo just outside of Escalante. Spooky was amazing, it was a 1/2 mile of a very narrow slot canyon. I just about had a panic attack in the middle of it, but Harold talked me through it. The sky was alittle threatening and I had visions of a flash flood. We also hiked Peekaboo. It was probably most interesting hike I have ever done. It was a perfect weekend.
| | Bootcamp this morning and then a 10 mile loop from my house, up to LaCaile and to 9400 S. and up to the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon and back. I felt pretty good after taking it easy over the Labor Day weekend. | |
| | Bootcamp and then 8 miles on the JRP with Gary. We ran into Jeff and Ardath on their bikes, that was fun! My legs felt tired today after 13 miles yesterday, good thing I was with Gary or I would have wussed out and walked. Gary and I have a fun plan for a long run this weekend that will be awesome, I just have to talk my dear hubby into it. I am not going to post it until I get permission, I guess I better start turning on the charm!!! | |
| |
Bootcamp and then a 2 1/2 mile walk with Julie. Julie is in the process of trying to start a non-profit organization to help stroke victims that have run out of insurance. There is not a place like this in Utah (there is in other states), it is going to be a huge undertaking but she is very determined and passionate to help others like Paul who are in need of therapy and have run out of insurance. I thought I would put that out on the blog just incase someone out there knows someone who might be interested in something like this.
Have a great day my running friends!!! Stay safe and strong, the SGM is almost here!
| |
Bleachers at Bootcamp. Dang I am getting good at this. Met with my nutritionist, he is going to send me my fat percentage today. I feel good. I am determined to have a perfect weekend, even with two parties!!!!!
Have a nice weekend! Come join us at the Cheesecake Factory at 11:00am tomorrow!!! I am excited to cheer on Marion, Maurine and Marsha at the I Can TRI!!!!!! It will be fun to be a spectator!!!!!
My weekend long run plan bombed. Oh well. It wasn't hubby's fault, I just wasn't thinking it though clearly.

The HARDEST LONGEST SLOWEST 25 MILES EVER!!!!!!!!
I ended up doing my hair brain idea after all. Ever since I paced a 70 year old man from New York 25 miles on the Wasatch 100 race I have wanted to do it, but have also realized it is out of my league. I paced about 8 years ago from Lambs Canyon to Brighton. I thought it would be fun to hike the last 25 mile section from Brighton to the Homestead in Midway, to see what that portion of the race was like, and thought what better way than to go the night of the race and follow the glow sticks and be a little fly on the wall and have a mini Wasatch 100 experience. So on Friday morning I called Gary and asked him if he was up for it and he was totally up for the adventure. I thought I might have to twist Harold's arm but he agreed, knowing I would have begged him until he gave in anyway, so we decided to get up to Brighton and start running around 11:00pm. We didn't want to interfere with the race at all, so we packed all our food and water and avoided the aid stations, and we would move off the trail and give every runner the right of way. I felt we did a great job of staying out of everyone's way and yet we got to experience a part of the thrill of this amazing race.
This last part of the course was so much more difficult than the Lambs to Brighton section that it blew me away. I have never been up and down so many mountain in a 25 mile distance in my life. As near as I can tell from my garmin we climbed over 10,000 ft of elevation. The highest peak of the race is on this last 25 mile stretch. We climbed from Brighton to the top of Sunset Peak and then down into the American Fork Canyon and back up and down several mountains, it was very steep and very rocky. I fell 6 times through the night, many of the sections were so steep that my quads were screaming to keep me from going too fast and going out of control, the climbs were exhausting. I was so impressed with all the runners who had already run 75 miles pass me with such strength. Ultra Runners are an amazing group of people. It was hard to see at night and my depth perception felt off, I wish I could explain our experience better. I learned today that my dream of ever doing the Wasatch 100 has been put to rest. I have no desire to do the whole race, it is definitely out of my league. I would love to hike the first 50 miles so that I can see what the whole course is like but I would never be able to do it in the 36 hours allowed.
I have to thank Gary, he stayed with me the whole time, I know he could have done it in half the time, but he was kind enough to wait for me when I got too far behind. I know he is young enough and strong enough to do it, so I hope he does one day, but this old gal got a good taste of reality today and realizes it isn't happening for me ever. Now that I have had a nap, I can already look back on our night as a fanatastic adventure. I am so impressed with the RD and his wonderful crew, this race is a gem.
| | This morning I decided to skip bootcamp. I felt pretty good, but thought another day of recovery from Sat. would be the smart thing to do. I took Odee out for a 1 mile walk, and felt great, what little soreness I had yesterday is gone today. Now to find the perfect balance for tapering for St. George. I know too much tapering makes me crazy, so I will try and be moderate. | |
| |
We did a lower body work out at bootcamp and then went outside and did 3 hill repeats on Fort Union Blvd. I have dropped 2% body fat in 4 weeks. My goal is drop another 5% and then maintain, now that is the hard part!
Less than 3 weeks to SG!!!!!
| | Upper body work out at bootcamp, run with Julie and Pink Floyd tonight! | |
| |
Lower body work out at bootcamp. I have one more week of bootcamp and am really looking forward to a break. It is so intense. I will go back to the CHRC and do muscle-up and yoga for a while.
16 days until St. George!
| | I am such a naughty girl, I slept in and missed bootcamp at Hillcrest. Ahhhhhhh...... heaven. I am taking tapering to the next level. | |
| | I only did a 5 mile walk today, maybe they will kick me off the FASTrunning blog! I told you I know how to taper!!!! | |
| | Bootcamp and then 5 miles with Ardath on the BST. It felt like winter, 49 degrees! BURRRR!!! | |
| |
Just bootcamp! I have a super busy day today!
Happy Running or Happy Tapering!
| |
I am going to miss Bootcamp SO much, only two more days. Today was a tough workout, but laughed so hard with my niece and the class that my abs got an extra hard workout. I am hoping to sign up again after St. George and the Pony Express, maybe 2 days a week. I have never in my life worked out so hard and enjoyed it so much. Once you have gone thru bootcamp you can always do the friday session at Hillcrest, so that is really awesome.
After class I ran down to the Jordon River Parkway and walked with Julie and Ziggy for a while. Legs felt good at my comfortable granny pace!
| |
Today was my last day of bootcamp, except for the Friday sessions which I will continue to do. Bittersweet, I will love sleeping in alittle longer, but will miss the intense workouts and the people that trained me and my co-workout buddies. Next week I will start back up the the rec center and do my muscle-up classes and yoga.
1 mile walk with Odee. | |
| |
Beachers at Hillcrest today, okay this is my offical end of bootcamp. Harold took a before picture of me 12 weeks ago and then one yesterday. I was surprised at the results. I could really see a differance. Even though it was only 6 pounds, I have lost quite a bit of fat and gained muscle. I am going to have Harold take another picture in 12 weeks and see if I can see a change while working out on my own, I think I have learned enough that I should be okay. My nephew went thru hell week this week, he had to run outside and puke, it was kind of funny because there is a salon next door and they were all watching. He was flying up the bleachers today and passing me, I was pretty impressed. His wife said that he told her he couldn't hold the baby because his arms were so stiff. Funny.
One more week until St. George. I can hardly wait!!!!!
| |
Did one of my favorite routes with Harold this morning, Harold rode his bike, it was nice, it made me push just alittle faster. From my house to the Cottonbottom and past the Old Mill and up to the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon and and back home. I am feeling pretty darn good with the marathon being a week from today!!
Looks like I am going to be doing the Misquite half marathon in Nov. with my girls ( they will do the 10K) and my friend Ardath and her sister from California. My mom is coming too to be the cheerleader with Paul and Harold!!! Fun times!!! I love to try new races!!! That will mean I have done races now in Utah, Calif., Oregon, and now Nevada!!
| |
| | Hiked with Ardath on the Little Cottonwood trail. It felt strange not doing bootcamp, good timing to end though so I can taper for St. George. | |
| |
I had a mamogram appt. this morning at 7:00am, so haven't been out yet, I am thinking of going for a walk with Odee sometime today. I am enjoying my taper way too much!
For those of you that have heard about my daughter's husband that was injured in a rugby game and suffered a stroke, you can check out Julie's new blog. She is trying to start up a non-profit organization to help stroke victims that have run out of insurance. http://theroadtostrokerecovery.blogspot.com/
| |
Merry Christmas! Holy Cow it is snowing, and really coming down, not just a skiff! I had to go over to the CHRC to run, I usually wait until it snows, oh yeah, it IS snowing and that is why I went there! I did 3 miles on the tread mill. My avg. pace was a 10:?? min. mile. That's good for me.
I hope you can all stay cozy today, drink hot chocolate with lots of whip cream today! Maybe I will play the Transiberian Orchestra too!
| | No time to run today, I have to do all my Thur and Friday appts. today and pack. I hope to see all you SG runners at the expo or up at the starting line. Good Luck! | |
| Race: |
st. george marathon (26.2 Miles) 05:34:56
I am just getting to my computer, it is after 11:00pm, we have been on the go all day and I am exhausted. I will do a race report later. I did finish in 5:34 and was happy with that. I will check on all your blogs soon.
I am finally a wake and can write a race report. I got to the expo and spent almost 2 hours walking around buying all kinds of fun running gear, I had my eye out for all my Redhot Running Chicks and didn't see any of them. I did see a family friend, Craig Cannon and an old friend Keiko. After the expo we went out for dinner with some of Harolds kids and his boss.
I got up at 3:45a and Harold dropped me off at the park to catch the bus at about 4:15. Again I looked for my RHPC's and saw no one.
The race started at 6:45 and I got in the 5:30 Cliff Pacer group. 5:30 was my goal. I stayed with the group until mile 10,a fun group of about 20, with the leader being Maurine's double, red short hair, identical build and gait. It was pretty freaky, it was like running with my ol' buddy. She was 57 years old and a very seasoned runner from LA. I stayed with them until about mile 10 and then had to use a bush, and of course, after that I never quite caught up, I could see them in the distance for a quite a while. Shortly after that I met up with a cute Polynesian girl Rene, that reminded me of my daughters, that was 35 and we stayed together for an hour or so, found out I knew her father at BYU-Hawaii and he actually was the person who hired me to be a dorm parent on campus. Small world. The time flew by as we talked about people we knew in common. She told me how she was invited to run St. George because while running Ogden in 2007 she was hit by car and taken to the hospital, she was also pregnant with twins, all 3 of them were okay, but it was a pretty scarey situation and it did get some media attention. She was adorable and I hope I can get in touch with her and keep up our friendship. She had a really bubbly sense of humor and wore a head band that said "In my dreams I am a Kenyan"
I am not sure when I started to get ahead of Rene, but I was watching my garmin and trying to catch up with my group, so I did leave her behind. I felt like my pace was pretty consistant thru the whole race. Many years I spend quite a bit of time walking after I am down into the city, but I kept my pace even though I was tired and came in at 5:34. This seems to be about my average speed if you were to look at all my 19 marathons, I was really happy, never got too uncomfortable and did feel strong at the finish. I am attempting the Pony Express 50 miler in less than two weeks, so this was a perfect training run.
I was also looking out for my friend Karen Boothe and I noticed she came in 30 seconds after me, and I never saw her. How funny is that?
After the race I we went home and I showered and then we hung out with the grandkids at the pool and then went to the 10 Year Banquet. I saw Karin Rowley get inducted into the club and visited with her for a few minutes and saw acouple other friends and made some new ones. There are now over 1,200 people in the club. They put on a wonderful dinner.
So, I was super happy with the way things went. I feel pretty darn good this morning too. We got up and went and picked up the newspaper to check out the race results. I look at them differently from my Running Chicks, I look to see how many in my age group come in AFTER me, there were 159 in my age group and 18 came in after me. SWEET VICTORY!!!! haha! I love it!!!!

| | Did a 7 mile bike ride on the JRP with Julie. Feeling like I am back to normal after the marathon. I plan to take it pretty easy though, the Pony Express 50 is only 9 days away. | |
| | I haven't run this week, recovering from St. George and gearing up the Pony Express 50 Friday. Hopefully I will get out for a an easy 6 miler tomorrow. I get butterflies in my stomach thinking about it. | |
| |
This is the first time I have run since the SGM. Holy cow I know how to taper. It was such a short run, I never got warmed up. I had my tooth pulled Wed. and it still hurts like crazy. I have been doped up for 3 days and am determined to get off the pain pills today, so I feel like crap. I have not had a diet coke for 3 days and I feel deprived, poor me. Anyway my run was pathetic. It was nice to have Harold with me. He wore his roller blades and took Odee along. We went along the PRT.
I bought a new pair of LaSportive shoes, my boys recommended that brand. I will have 2 other pairs of shoes in my crew vehicle, so it is okay that they are not broken in.
GREAT NEWS!!!! My son Chris is going to pace me to the finish. I was afraid to ask anyone to drive out to the middle of the desert and he was totally happy to do it. He is the athlete of the family, a big rock climber, runner, trials bike rider, you name it he does it. He is also on the Search and Rescue team. I am so excited! I would love to have all 4 of my children there for my once in a life time event, but 2 out of 4 isn't bad. My cute daughter Jana, is going to crew for Gary and I in our 4Runner. This is going to be SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!! Did I tell you we are going to make a DVD of our adventure? Jana will also be the photographer!
A week from today my 50 will be over, I hope I will be able to pull this off!!!
| | I had my tooth pulled Wed. and the pain is getting worse each day. I don't understand, I am going to try and get into the dentist tomorrow and see if I need antibotics or something. The pain has to be gone by Friday!!!! | |
| | I just got back from the dentist, I had a dry socket, they filled it and it was instant relief. Whew! No wonder I haven't felt like doing anything all weekend, hopefully tonight I can get in a little run or do the eliptical or something. | |
| |
I ran at 6:00am this morning from my house to the mouth of BCC. I went at a nice slow ultra pace. All the body parts seem to be working fine. Even though they are fine, the thought of going for 50 miles is very frightening. I will not dwell on being negative. I can do this! I can do this!!!
| |
I beat the storm, the sky was dark and it was windy, but had a nice little run up to Bywater Park and back, I was running effortlessly down hill at a 9:00 min. mile, which is totally NOT me. I feel like I am as ready as I can be for Friday. I just thought of something, I think I will have trekking poles in my crew vehicle, they may be nice to use those last few miles.
I talked to my son Chris and he may come out early in the day and run with me thru the finish. I can not tell you how happy I am about that!!!!!!!
Last night my packing came out of my tooth and it started to hurt again so I got online and found out about a product and went down to Rite -Aid and put it on, it was clove oil and some other essential oil and my jaw felt instantly better and I woke up to no pain!!! Life is GREAT!
50 MILES here I come! | |

pony express 50 miler (50 Miles) 13:19:00
Jana (my daughter), Gary and Ernie (running buddies) and I left the house at 4:00am to get the start line by 6:00. Driving thru the desert, the temp was in the 20's and there was frost on the ground. There were 9 of us doing the early start. 7 men and 2 women. The other woman Joann dropped out at about 27 miles, so I was the only woman in the 50 mile distance to finish, so that made me the first place woman.
We all had on our headlamps and reflective wear on and headed off at 6:03. I felt strong and took a comfortable pace for the first 30 or so miles. My plan was to not sit down for the first half of the race. Jana was also crewing for Gary and Ernie, I got ahead of the boys around mile 1 or 2. Gary would normally be ahead of me, but Ernie was attempting his first marathon distance and so Gary stayed behind to be supportive. Jana was the ultimate crew. She pampered us royally and took a zillion pictures of the day. Jana would drive up to me and ask me what I wanted and then pull ahead and have it ready for me. She had a clip board and recorded my time at each stop, what I ate, and my bathroom stops and other notes that might be helpful if we decide to do this again.
It was fun to be able to keep up with the other runners, I got to know Marilyn,a 100 miler and the only other female on the course, Quentin, Gary, David, and Rand. They were friendly and fun. I love the feeling of comraderie in these races, afew times I would slip back and Dave would yell and wave, "Get up here Leslie" and I would kick it up a knotch to be with the group.
At mile 11 my new LaSportive shoes were giving me a hot spot so I changed into my trusty old broken in Brooks. This was when I realized how fabulous a driving crew is. Jana was right there, put on a blister bandage and I was ready to go, had it been a marathon, I would have had to tough it out and have major blister problems, my feet never gave me any trouble thru the rest of the race. Well, I guess I should say, I didn't notice anything until I went to bed and found little blisters on almost every toe, but nothing bad enough to give me trouble on the course.
I kept thinking around mile 15 I would see the 8:00 start group, but I was almost to mile 30 before they started passing me. ( I am not sure exactly, Jana has it in her notes she is going to type up for me, so I am guessing for now) Anyway, Scott was in the lead, and then Davy and then I lost track after that. I never saw Smooth. In her honor we did write Happy Birthday Smooth on the side of our car, so she was with us in spirit.
At 25 miles, the half way mark, I had been at it 5 hours and 54 minutes. I felt great and thought I am going to do better than my 14 hour goal. Jana kept track of my eating, "Mom, I think you need salt", or whatever. I took Vit. I every 5 hours. Looking forward to Jana's crew stops were like a slice of heaven.
At mile 35 I told Jana I felt great but wanted her to stretch out my legs and I thought I would take a 5 minute rest with my feet elevated. I never should have done that, my stomach started to ache and I then had some serious potty issues, which I will spare you, but managed to gross out Jana with. Jana said, "Mom TMI"! At that point, I lost my running mojo, my gut felt horrible and I basically speed walked for the next few miles, during this time we went over the one and only big pass, probably a mile of a very steep incline. I was getting alittle down, Chris said he would come and pace me around noon and it was after 3:00 and I really needed him.
At the top of the pass Jana took afew pictures and I headed down hill and met up with Don a 64 year old ultra runner from Canada, he was adorable, his wife also an ultra runner and was crewing him. He had the biggest grin on his face and was so happy to be out in the desert running that you couldn't help but feel better. At the bottom of the hill I stopped to get some more fuel and water from Jana and was ticked because my garmin just died, no sooner had I realized this, when I looked up and my kids had just pulled up Chris, Julie and Paul, I could have just bawled I was so happy, but instead I ran to them and hugged and kissed them!!! I ran ahead while Chris adjusted his garmin for me and they got the bikes out. Not too long after Paul comes up to me on the bike and rides along side me, it was so fun to have my kids out there. Julie and Paul would switch off to pace me on the bike and Chris ran with me. He told me to take it easy for a while and then the last 4 miles we were going to pick up the pace and finish strong. I can not tell you how much that helped me mentally. I was about the point to pick up my trekking poles and hobble in, but instead we picked up the pace and passed 3 runners! It was a strange mix of feeling strong, but I also felt alittle delirious, at mile 48 I tripped over my own feet and fell to the ground and bloodied up my hands and arms. Chris kept saying stay with it mom, it is all mental at this point, your body can go afew more miles, mind over matter, you can do this, he never stopped talking, he would hand me my water bottle and say we are going to push it 100 yards, now breath, long slow breaths and relax and then push it again. For those last 4 miles we had many sections where we had a 10 min. per mile pace. It felt so awesome. My kids all came to meet me just before the finish line and we went across together. Having my children there made my day absolutely perfect. This has been a dream of mine for probably 10 years now. It feels so GOOD!
Gary and Ernie came in 11 minutes after me. I was so proud of Ernie, his goal was to run his first marathon with Gary out in the desert and he ended up doing 40 miles!!!!! Gary was awesome to slow down the pace to encourage Ernie. What a great couple they are. It was fun to be with them on my 50 mile adventure.
I loved every minute of the race and wouldn't change a thing. Davy Crockett is so awesome to organize this. Thank you Davy.
The results are out, Marilyn the only 100 miler woman dropped out at mile 74, so they put her in the 50 catagory. She crossed the 50 mile mark 7 minutes before I did, so I came in 2nd place.
| |
I decided it was about time to try a little run. I ran up to Bywater Park and then walked home. The legs felt pretty good, but I am still mentally in a recovery mode. I will probably take it easy the rest of the month.
| |
| | My brother and sister-in-law from Orange County flew in and we hiked the BST, it was a beautiful fall hike! My legs feel good as gold, no pain or soreness at all, I think I need to plan another marathon, the next race on my calendar is the Red Mountain 50K in April, that is too far out. | |
| |
Ardath and I left the house at 8:00am, headed up to Millcreek. The temp was 28 when we got out of the car. We had a beautiful fall hike. Lots of leaves on the trail. Odee was in heaven, we were too.
Ardie is doing the half marathon in Mesquite, it is killing me, I was on, and then off and now I want to be on again. We shall see.......
| |
Today was my first day back to Muscle-up, I upped my weights quite a bit and had a great work out, my 3 months of bootcamp made me realize I am capable of lifting heavier and working harder. It isn't the same as bootcamp, bootcamp also gives you a good cardio work out as well, but this is so much cheaper, I am just going to have to make it work. I also don't think I want to keep up that intensity on a regular basis. Maybe I will go to bootcamp once a year for a shot in the arm, the same time next year to prep for the Pony Express, that seemed to really strengthen my legs for the race. Yoga at 10:30.
Have a great day! | |
| | Got up early and did 15 min. on the eliptical machine, had to rush home to make pumpkin bread for my VT ladies. I am hoping to get back to the gym or go for a winter run this afternoon. | |
| | Last night I started sneezing and woke up to a sore throat, chills and congestion. I cancelled all my appts. and am staying in bed with hot chocolate and reading The Other Boleyn Girl. | |
| |
Still sick, but I now know it is a common cold and not the H1N1, so I am okay with it. I wore a mask while doing my appts.
Hopefully I can get out tomorrow for a short run, I haven't done much since the Pony Express, I need to get busy!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!
| |
I was asked to talk in Relief Society about my 50 miler and cried, how crazy is that? I think it was a spiritual experience for me. The tears started coming when I talked about my children showing up at mile 40 to get me thru, and my son in law Paul, who is a stroke survivor, rode his bike next to me the last 10 miles and my son talked me thru though to the end. I have really cool kids.
I just signed up for the Red Mountain 50K in Ivans, if anyone is interested in a 50k, this is my favorite. Check out their website. It is April 24th.
| |
| | Had a nice walk with Ardath this morning, I was planning on doing some running and just couldn't get myself motivated. I probably jogged a quarter of a mile, I felt alittle "something" in the knees, not really pain, just kind of funny, guess I am still recovering from the race. | |
| |
Muscle-up and Yoga today, plus a full work day!
| |
4 miles in the neighborhood, picked up the feet alittle but still walked most of the way.
| | Muscle-up and Yoga, and a short walk with Odee. I need to start running again.....any day now...... I am being a slug. | |
| |
I finally had a fairly decent run and felt good. Perfect weather. I ran to the mouth of BCC and back.
YAY it is Friday, football, a 5K and the kids over for Sunday dinner!
| |
Today was just a fun run with my kids, I paid for Jana, Julie and Paul to run the Animal Therapy 5K at Wheeler Farm, and I ran along as a bandit. I figured $60 for a 5K was about my limit. It was fun though and I had no pressure to do anything but just jog along. It was fun for me to see Paul complete the whole 5k, we never know how he will feel at any given minute, so this was a big accomplishment.
It was fun to Rachel and Lucy and her little family. She finished the race in lightening speed and then came back to help me finish. Rachel and I waited around with our kids in the barn to see if we could win a raffle prize, but no such luck. It was a fun morning.
| | Hiked Corner Canyon with Ardath and Odee. Perfect fall weather! | |
| |
Just muscle up today.
I felt guilty for only doing a one hour workout so I did a quick run up to Bywater Park and back.
| |
Today was the first day I felt like I am on way back to running again, I ran with only acouple of short walking breaks. Ran thru the park, up Bengal Blvd and along Danish Road. Baby Steps.....
This afternoon I am going hiking with Rachel and her kids, that will be fun. I am looking forward to that, I will adjust my miles when we get back.
| |
Muscle up, 4 miles and Yoga, that's all folks!
Have a nice day! | |
| | Quick run up to Bywater Park before the ladies start coming! | |
| | Went on a nice run with Maurine on the JRP. Harold took Odee. Winter is here, chilly but beautiful. | |
| |
I had a great run up to LaCaille and back. Blue skies, cold fresh air, a great start to the day! Now a pedicure and manicure and whipping up some whole wheat goodies in the kitchen.
This route is an oldie, when Ardie and I started running 15 years ago this was one of our faves. I have to brag about Ardie for a minute. She is 68 and fit and beautiful. I am thinking of her today because she is sick and we were supposed to hike today, she has to get better she is doing the Mesquite Half Marathon Sat. She is one of my best friends and my hero. Get better Ardie and go scout out this new course and I will join you next year!!!!!
| | Muscle up, what the heck, I don't have a race until April, I can chill a bit. | |
| | BRRRRR ! Ran from my house to the Cottonbottom, past the Old Mill, got to try out the new trail and then up to the mouth of BCC and home. My fingers aren't working, better stop. | |
| |
4 miles thru the neighborhood. 5 hours of work and then off to see New Moon with my girls!!!
| |
I thought we were going to wake up to snow, so glad it was clear. I had a nice run from my house to the JRP and met Harold and Odee there and then we did 3 miles together. We checked out Winn Co while we were down there, we had fun, found some good deals.
Tonight we are going to see Kalai and Cubworld, my favorite local musicans!!!
| | Nice walk on the Millcreek trail around the pond with Ardath. She told me all about the Mesquite Half she did. That will be a perfect recovery run for me next year after the Pony Express. | |
| |
I did my Old Mill route, quite a bit of walking today, and then took Odee for a walk in the park.
Tonight we are going to the TransSiberian Orchestra! This is my favorite concert of the year. I am riding down on Trax with Ardath and her granddaughter and meeting Harold downtown.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
| |
Maurine and Rachel ran the CHRC 5k and parked in my driveway, so I got to visit them for a bit. I walked the course with Ardath and Harold, got see lots of friends running. What a great way to start Thanksgiving day!!!!
Have a wonderful day! | |
| |
Short run up to Bywater Park and back
| |
Started from my house, just before sunrise, ran up to Wasatch Blvd. and then headed south to Draper, ended up at the Draper Park. Harold drove to Draper Park and walked back towards me with Odee. On our way to home we drove past In and Out and it was opened, so we had burgers for breakfast. YUM! I had a burger protein style, which is lettuce instead of a bun, it was great! I saw 2 deer and a big buck. I put handwarmers in my gloves and it made all the differance in the world.
Still not sure who to cheer for today. I went to BYU-Hawaii, but I also used to do massage for the U of U football team.... oh, well, whatever.....
| | Short hike with Ardie up to the Bells Canyon Res. and round the res. Pretty icy. I need Harold to put the screws on my shoes. I had a nice fall on my fanny. | |
| | Muscle-up this morning and a very wimpy run/walk, not in the mood, that always happens when I don't run first thing in the morning. I was trying to repent from taking a day off yesterday, didn't work too well. | |
| |
A quick treadmill run this morning before a busy day!
Have a great weekend! | |
| |
Went the to spa this morning. 45 minutes on the eliptical and a 15 min. jog around the indoor track and 50 sit ups. It felt tough. I remember when I used to do an hour on the eliptical and then an hour on the track. I will just make little increases each day and see how long it takes to get back up there. I think a part of it is boredom.
Today I am volunteering at the food bank with Julie and Paul. Yay!
| | I woke up to a huge storm, went over to the rec center and did muscle up and a walked around the indoor track for a mile. Any day now I am going to pick up the pace! I am kind of in a wintery slump. |
| | Went over to the spa and did 4 miles at 5.6 speed and then a mile cool down. It beat going outside in 11 degree weather. Now I am enjoying a nice spinach and berry smoothie. Glad I can stay home all day. The roads are sheets of ice. | |
| | Just muscle up today. Crazy busy! |
| | no mojo this morning. 2 miles on the treadmill. Pretty pathetic. | |
| | It was warmer than I expected this morning, about 20 degrees. I decided to run towards Costco and have Harold pick me up. I got in 4.15 miles. I sure looked pretty at Costco with out any make up and bed hair. | |
| | This probably shouldn't shouldn't count but I'm counting it. I met my best friend Ann Alisa from Hawaii who is in town for a few weeks and we walked around the University Mall down in Provo. Great therapy, she is my soul sister! |
| | Muscle up this morning. Tomorrow it will be 2 months since my 50 miler, so it is offically time to kick it up a knotch. I need to get my head in the right place, I just want to bake and eat holiday goodies and lounge and wear stretchy pants, heaven help me!! :) | |
| | muscle-up and a very busy day! |
| |
I think 27 degrees is perfect running weather. Ran to the Cottonbottom and back, it was BEAUTIFUL!!!! I think I am ready to start "enjoying" running again!
Maurine gave me a sticker for my car " 50 the new 26.2 " I LOVE IT!!!!!!
Next race is Painters Half in St. George, Jan 23 and then on the beach house for short visit!!!!
| |
20 degrees seemed so much colder than yesterdays 27! My plan was to run from my house up to Wasatch Blvd. and head south to Draper Park, which is about 10 miles. I ended up calling Harold and told him I was turning around and to hurry and pick me up. We then took Odee over to the Old Mill trail and walked around the pond, they built a beautiful new bridge.
Just came back from Avatar, I really liked it, and I hate science fiction. Very different, I loved the planet Pandora and the people in it. Very magical. |
| |
I thought I lived East enough to be above the bad air, but no way, it was as thick as pea soup. My 6 mile plan ended up being just over 3. I felt like it was not such a healthy work out sucking in all that bad air.
4 miles snowshoeing up by Suncrest. Beautiful, above the dirty air.
| | muscle up! That's it today! | |
| | I just signed up for Painters Half Marathon in St. George on Jan. 23, a month from today. I am hoping this will get me alittle more motivated to run, I need to get back in shape for the Red Mountain 50K in April. I have been enjoying my 2 month recovery break from my 50 miler and need a reason to get back into gear. Having a race on the calendar seems to help some. | |
| | I made it to muscle up on Christmas Eve morning, I think I deserve a high 5 or something. Merry Christmas everyone!!! | |
| | A short run this morning with Odee and then a little snow shoeing with Harold up on the ridge by Little Mountain. | |
| |
It was below 20 degrees so I went to the rec center. Did 5 miles on the treadmill.
I am trying to think of a good game plan for 2010, I need a reasonable goal that will push me enough, but not make me so crazy I can't keep it up all year. I know for sure I will be doing muscle up 2 days a week, but am trying to figure out decent mileage goals. One idea is to do at least 35 miles a week, another idea is a minimun of 2 hours a day working out, another goal is one race a month....I will figure it out by Jan. 1. and post it to make me accountable. My ultimate goal is to still drop my stupid weight that seems to hang on no matter how hard I work out and PR at the Pony Express next year ( under 13 hours). I would be interested to hear your running/fitness goals.
| | 2 miles on the TM before muscle-up and then I am going to go snow shoeing this afternoon. | |
| |
A short little treadmill run, today I am working my best friend's daughter's wedding reception, 8 hours on my feet!
