Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

I ran the same route I did yesterday and my average pace was about 4 seconds slower, but still a faster pace than I have been doing for the last few months.

8.0 from goal ( Remind me not to go to a Food Fest at R.S. ever again, I had a bite of everything and was so stuffed, I took off before they offered the buffet of sinfully delicious desserts, or my story could have been much worse!) This is really True Confessions!

I am sorry dinner did not go as planned :( Bummer!

You are not going to like this idea- but what if you focus on a 3 pound range that you are going to just maintain until January? It might give you the mental break you need and time physically to adjust to running everyday again. You are still recovering from a very traumatic summer.` It's just an idea. I hate seeing you so frustrated by things like your RS thing. I am sure you were not bad. I am sure you made some really great choices. You are still recovering from PF, AND 1 and a half marathons. Maybe focus on making really great choices, getting your runs in every day and enjoying the season. Am I making any sense?

You make tons of sense Marion, I am a physco case! Thank you for the reality check!! I need to mellow out and enjoy the holidays!! Thank you! I love you! A 3 pound loss would be DEVINE over the holidays! Just maintaining would be GREAT! We all need to cut ourselves some slack and enjoy the holiday season. Oh, my gosh, I sound so senseable!!! I needed that!ahhhhh.... relief

I think I am moving to maintaining (but, back to the 5 pounds away that I was last week0> There is just too much food this time of year to not enjoy it a little (or a lot). Like, for instance, you can not get pumpkin ice cream and pumpkin cheesecake at other times!!!

It's what you get for wussing out on running with me this morning :)

I hear you! I will just run more and enjoy all the seasonal goodies!!

Maurine, I have the 4:00am rule, no getting up before 5:00am unless it is for a race, sorry dearie.

Enjoying the seasonal goodies?? I like that idea!

Leslie, I agree with Marion. You've got to enjoy life too. I wish I could have been there for the whole food fest, esp the dessert part. when I get back I want to go do that Holladay run with you. Where are you going for it?

From leslie on Fri, Nov 14, 2008 at 10:37:15

Lets do it. I park at the church and run north 1 1/2 miles and back to the car. Pretty flat, and I really try and push myself. If I only do 3 miles it is not so hard to put in more effort. Call me next week and lets go, I can go early if you want. You could bring some hot chocolate and wait and in the car for me!!!
