Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

This morning I ran in a full blown snow storm, it was really nice, I put on my YakTracs and took off, I went a little longer this morning and did some walking, I can't believe how much I enjoyed the winter weather. I was really happy this morning, I was so touched by our new Presidents speech last night. I am excited to see what kind of changes he brings to our country.  It is a beautiful morning.

It really is beautiful to run in the snow right now while the roads are still ice free :) Have a GREAT day!! xoxoxoxoxo

Good job getting out there in the snow!

I can not believe that I actually said I loved running in the snow! I am running outdoors all winter long! It is fabulous! Hey, I did Yoga last night with the hubby, we are really liking it.

You are AMAZING!! While I was waiting to meet up with Jenny and Des this morning in my warm car I watched two runners go past me and I thought HOW CRAZY! I've decided that is the definition of a true runner - one that goes out no matter what the weather. By my definition you are a true runner. I don't think i will ever be a "runner"

From leslie on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 15:42:38

Lisa, you are a goofball! You kick my sorry old butt! I loved running outside, this is new me! Last year I spent all winter in the gym, I am hoping not to do that ever again.

What is a YakTrack???

I need to go listen to the speech, I taped it but I did not want to listen to politics last night. Do you really think anything will change?? Nothing ever does, Democrats or Republicans, they all promise and rarely deliver. I am such a pessimist, I hate politicians. However, our soon to be new President (we have to wait until January) is pretty darn cute, who knew that would ever happen??

From Kelli on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 17:32:22

Hey, forget the above question. I just found the answer on Marion's Blog.

From leslie on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 17:51:42

Kelli, they are rubber/coil things you put on your shoes so you don't slip on the ice, I am afraid of falling.

I really like Obama,I would love to say more, but in Utah it is not a very popular opinion, I have to be a closet Obama girl I guess. Can I just say Palin scared the crap out of me??

From leslie on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 18:01:49

Oh yeah, Obama will be alot more pleasing to the eye than McCain, that's for sure! :)

From kungfublonde on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 18:05:08

Caribou Barbie scared me too :(

The speech was wonderful. I am very hopeful and excited about the future, and also very happy to have all of that campaign nonsense behind us!

I can't imagine running in the snow! I did it as a kid, but barely remember it. I'm probably too wimpy. You are way more hardcore than I am!!

From leslie on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 18:12:37

Being a California girl, this running in the snow is tough, but I am determined to adapt to this frigid weather. UGH! It really isn't to bad, once you get past the comfort of your warm bed and get out there!

I am glad I am not alone Rachel!!

From Kelli on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 18:28:32

Oh, you are not alone!!! Plenty of Utahns voted for Obama. I really like a lot of what he has to say, and I do not like a lot as well. But, it was the same for McCain. I still do not get why he chose Palin as a running mate. He was already an extremely weak candidate and that was a boneheaded move, in my opinion. I do not think he would have won no matter who he chose.

The country is in a mess (and I am not even going to begin to blame it on anyone, the blame lies everywhere, and I do not even think the majority of it lies with politicians or the president---just the PEOPLE in general) and people want a change. When it all comes down to it, the President is not all powerful, things have to be "approved". We have checks and balances. So, I hope that our government can all work together and sort some things out!!

I am a pessimist, really! I try, but i am so sick of politics and lying right now. Neither candidate was truthful all of the time, and it just gets under my skin that we have to play dirty to win!

Sorry. I am done ranting. I am glad he won, I hope he can make change, even if it is just a little bit!! I support our President no matter who he (or she) is because I am an American!

Moving on...I have eaten way too many whoppers.

From leslie on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 19:01:16

Kelli, I love you, my feelings exactly! He is not a King just a President, my thought is he will be a better Cheerleader for the world! The world loves him! We can start mending relationships with the rest of the world and people will like us again!! Okay, no more politics I promise!!

You exersized 2 hours, whoppers are allowed! :)

From Kelli on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 19:59:46

How many whoppers do you think I have earned??? Probably not as many as I have eaten. However, I forgot to mention that as of today I am back to exactly 5 pounds to go! Now, to not undo that over the weekend. I am going to be a good girl. But I will run A TON to earn my shake---I have been craving it since I chose to not have one last weekend!

Thanks for loving me! Politics are driving me nuts theses last few months. So, now to move on will be a good thing.
