Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

I ran  along Danish Road today, decided to do 5 instead of 4, did a little walking.  Beautiful weather! It took 1:07

5.8 from goal! ( the scale finally made a move!) This is where it gets really hard, the last 5 freaking pounds. Help me help me, tonight is a girls night out at La Cocina!  I will be good, I will be good!!!!

I am really looking forward to Sat. to do our Day After Halloween 10 Miler!! What should I bring? I hear Marions bring hot chocolate and Keli muffins and Jon chocolate covered bacon ( yicks!!)

Maybe some Pepto for the chocolate bacon! :D

Great miles! As for tonight, seroiusly MAKE A PLAN!!! Walk into it knowing exactly what you are going to do. Mentaly rehearse it all day long. You can DO it!!!! :)

From leslie on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 10:08:10

Marion, that is exactly what I am doing a big diet coke and one taco, no chips no rice and beans! ONLY ONE MEASLEY LITTLE TACO! I can do this!!!!

From marion on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 10:17:42

Good plan! Be sure that is honest and will work for you! If you need 12-15 chips, then eat them! Plan for it and eat them. If you need the beans or the rice or half of each, have them. The trick to planning is taking what has happend in the past, the feelings and all, and then make a realistic plan that you can live with, both there in the restaurant and at home the next day. It's like me and my 3 donuts tomorrow. I know I sould only have one, but I know I won't do it. I also know that I cannot resist the snickers and the Reeses. So I am planning for one of each.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Tonight doesn't sound so hard, it's Saturday you need a plan for!! I know the last 5 lbs is the toughest, but don't forget to feel really excited about the fact you are at your last 5 lbs! It's a wonderful accomplishment that gets often overlooked because people are looking at the little bit they have left to go instead of how very far they've already come. Celebrate!

From leslie on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 10:41:12

Thank you Rachel and Marion, it is so nice to have your very own cheering squad!!!! You are right about the weekend, that is the big test! Rachel, we really need an 80's picture of you! I will see if I can get my hubby to help me with one.

From Kelli on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 13:56:11

YEAH for the scale moving!!! We are now in the same spot, so let's help each other here!! I weighed in officially this morning and I have exactly 5 to go (do not ask where my huge weight gain went, apparently it was a fluke---but it scared me into good behavior!! My body does weird things sometimes when it is mad at me.)

I have BUNKO tonight and it is hard to plan for because I have no clue what the desert will be. And all of the candy on each table is just too much!! I plan for eating it, and HOPE for not overdoing it. I skip dinner (do not read that Marion) so that the calories will not affect me too much, and I bring Crystal Light with me!

Now, to figure out how to be a good girl tomorrow at the school Halloween party (can you say donuts and sugar cookies??) and then tomorrow night when we take our kids out to dinner! Do you ever go to Red Robin? I have no idea what to eat there!!

Okay, enough about me. Sorry for that. I am on one today. You had a great run and the weather is once again nice (a little windy on the west side, as always). Can not wait to see you again on Saturday! Have fun tonight, and indulge a LITTLE.

From leslie on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 14:09:01

Okay Kelli! We are in this together! 5 to go! My goal is to get it off by Nov. 20th which is the Pink Floyd Concert and to reward myself with a new outfit. I have already decided on tonights game plan, so I will be fine. I am determined to have a good weekend (that is always my downfall)

Bunko sounds fun! You will be fine because you will have to report to us and we really want to say " Kelli you go girl! Such Determination! Such Willpower" Nothing like a bit of peer pressure!!!!!

I am excited about Sat. too, but I am sure I will just see you at the beginning and end!

I have never been to Red Robin, but heck, you can make any resturant work! I have great faith in you!

From Kelli on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 14:14:07

Oh, goodness, do not have so much faith in my will power!! It gives me a run for my money!! BUNKO is hard becasue, like I said, I never know what the food will be. I always pray for something I will not like, but I like just about everything (aside from chocolate covered bacon).

But, all I can do is do my best. I am going to go research menu choices at Red Robin. If I decide what I am going to get before I go, it helps. The key will be to not eat my kids' food!

From marion on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 14:36:08

I hear Red Robin has the BEST (most like England) fish and chips in the US. That probably does not help, eh?

From Kelli on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 14:45:29

I HATE fish, so that was doubly unhelpful!

From marion on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 14:46:32

Cool, then I won't tell you that thier milkshakes are famous! ;)

I think I am in trouble. They really do not have many good choices, do they??? What ever will I eat??

From leslie on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 14:53:55

I think you should eat something before you go so you are full already and then just have the chiliand a side salad. Sorry, that was a very boring option! or just save up points and have a decent meal? You will have to let me know your game plan.

From marion on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 14:57:16

It's Ok- take a deep breath!

http://www.redrobin.com/home/customizer.aspx

Go there and add or subtact the FAT crap until you get a best choice. Or just use ALL of your weekly points allowance!

From Kelli on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 15:03:11

I always get soup and salad at Chili's, so that is probably what I will do. I have to save some weekly points for going out AGAIN Saturday for date night at Bajios. That is my favorite place!!! And I am sure at some point this weekend ice cream will factor in!!

I wish my kids liked Applebees, it sure makes my life easier!

From marion on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 15:07:28

There are some great options if you fiddle with that thing. I may go eat there just for the costomizer! The garden burger, naked is 7 points, the turkey burger naked is 10 the california chicken burger is 8 with the guacamole :)

From Kelli on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 15:09:16

I was thinking the chicken burger sounded good. Okay, I will mess with it so maybe I can eat more than a soup and salad----boring!

From Kelli on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 22:36:31

I have returned from BUNKO. I won a prize, yeah!!! i have not won in forever.

So, I did okay, but they had pumpkin pie (love anything pumpkin) AND a red velvet bundt cake with cream cheese frosting. I had a little slice of both! I drank tons of diet coke, and I had maybe 4 almonds, 2-3 peanut M&M's, about 8 of this dark brown things in the Gardettos mix, and a few too many reeses peanut butter cups (the little ones---maybe 10 of them??) Not bad if you knew what I usually eat when I go. I did have a little bit of pasta and 3 small pieces of garlic bread for dinner. The garlic bread was a bad idea to make---I LOVE bread as much as chocolate!

Okay, there is my report. I think I used up my 35 points for the week!! Now, I will have to be an angel all weekend. But, heck, that 10 mile run will at least earn me my ice cream. I will save Bajios for NEXT weekend, I guess!

From leslie on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 23:30:42

What was your prize? Reading the food was painful, I am starving right now. I went out with the girls and followed my plan- one small taco, and no chips, tons of diet coke and I am so freaking hungry I don't know how I will ever get to sleep. Kelli, you can afford to enjoy yourself!! Sounds like a fun party and great food!

From marion on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 23:42:35

Leslie- if you are still awake- have a bowl of cereal or a 1/2 of a sandwich! It will be OK to eat something small. I PROMISE!!!

Kelli- GREAT job! I think you did a bang up job!!!

From Kelli on Fri, Oct 31, 2008 at 16:11:35

It was good, especially that red velvet cake!!! I have never tried that before, nummy! I had treats, but I really did do much better than I usually do!

My prize was a $5 gift card to Hollywood and a box of popcorn, nothing too exciting. I actually got the LOSER prize for being the BIGGEST LOSER of the night.

From Kelli on Fri, Oct 31, 2008 at 16:12:08

OH---and way to stick to your plan! i never manage to do that, I would have had chips for sure, and probably 2 tacos!
