Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

The plan was to meet Maurine at 5:30 am to do speedwork, but I just wasn't feeling up to it after my 18 miler Monday, and Maurine had run 10.50 last night so she was okay with an easy run. I say easy run, the pace looks slow on paper, but it felt hard, it was cold and we had head winds and my legs were still pretty wiped out.

Yeah - it was a tough one today. Glad you came by (so was Twilight).

Wow - after rehydrating I still dropped another pound this morning with my two bathroom breaks! (too much information :) )

Those paces are perfect! You are so smart to listen to the body! How are your heels these days?

From leslie on Wed, Feb 11, 2009 at 10:49:37

I thought it was perfect today too, it was a tough run and I pushed just enough. The heels seem to be better these days, I am still taking meds, but I think they are a bit better. If I forget to take my meds. they talk to me, but not as much as last summer. I refuse to let it stop me from running. I am going to check your blog and see if you did your speedwork, we had good intentions, but that's life!

18-miler on Monday? How did I miss that. I am SUPER glad that you ran easy today.

Nice job Leslie!!

From Smooth on Wed, Feb 11, 2009 at 16:37:17

Running into wind counts as double miles, I'm certain of that. GOOD JOB! Smart to be flexible with your workout. Do take care of your heels, no running thru pain.

From tarzan on Wed, Feb 11, 2009 at 16:41:33

Smooth - does that mean that running with a tailwind only counts as partial miles?

Question for all - how can you tell when Leslie is tired?

Answer - she doesn't talk your ears off while running.

From Kelli on Wed, Feb 11, 2009 at 18:39:58

It was COLD this morning, it still is! I hope the wind is gone soon!

Great job and good luck on that weigh in!

BTW, I am going to AZ to run a race, not relax! But we are staying at my sisters for a few days, so hopefully that will be fun. You have fun in OC, that sounds much better!

Yes, Maurine, I was plum tuckered out, I was working hard, I was struggling just to breathe!!

What race are you doing Kelli?

Smooth, double miles works for me!!!!
