Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Yoohoo!   A fun morning with Marion, Maurine and Kelli at the Breast Cancer walk at Liberty park. It was fun to meet Kelli in real life!  We lucked out on the weather, it started raining just as we finished.

Harold and I and Odee walked, while the other girls ran.  It was great, a lot of people came out to support Breast Cancer, it was fun to be a part of all the excitement.

We loved the signs.... Bosom Buddies and Save Second Base, everyone sure had a positive attitude!

Thanks Marion for letting us be a part of the event!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMMING!!! It was SO wonderful to meet Harold and Odee! What a great time to be had by all. Next year our team is going to be "SAVE THE BREAST" It's a team name all of our guys can get behind!!!

Hey- how is Paul?

From laurie on Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 17:49:04

I know I bailed, I'm just so tired, I slept until 9a I put in a 15hr day at school yesterday and hosted a star party late last night with students.

You guys are so great for getting out. My team for WBR was raising money for breast cancer, and we had pink balloons on our cars and turned them into anatomy. We also had, big or small save them all, and "Hey, check out those mountains!!!"

It was a fun morning! Paul is doing okay, he is still having a hard time talking, but we are excited that they are going to put his skull back on Oct.27.

Laurie, we missed you, but understand, no pressure here, we love it when you can join us, but realize life gets CRAZY!!! Hold on girl, hey, you made it thru your first parent teacher conferance...

How long will the recovery be from the surgery?

From leslie on Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 21:03:27

He will be in the hospital for at least 2 days, I am not sure what the recovery will be like. Thanks for asking!

I want to meet Lynn, I am sorry I missed her, I saw her picture, it will be fun to have her on the blog.

Leslie, I heard about you...there was someone else in our group this morning and I obviously have her name wrong. They told me you were there with your husband and dog. I hope to meet you next time.

From marion on Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 16:50:43

Hey- we are trying to come up with a name for next year. I like "The Fast Running Boobs!" What do you think?

From leslie on Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 17:17:33

I love it! Did you see the girls with the black shirts on with the pink bras on top? I loved it!!

So are you doing Painters Marion? I am trying to get as many of us as possible to go down for a winter get-a-way! This snow is making me think ahead. We need a Winter Run to keep us honest and have some fun to look forward too. Hey, you had to miss Hobble Creek because of the calf, have you run 13 miles yet? or was the PRovo River 10 miler your longest run?

From marion on Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 17:26:09

The provo 10 miler was my longest. Kim and I are training to be able to do a 1/2 at the drop of a hat ;) I'd love to go down. Are we thinking of driving down together and splitting a room/condo? David will probably not come with :( I may be able to get a 10 sleeper condo in St George. Let me know.

From Kelli on Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 17:38:08

I am not nearly as exciting in real life! But it was great to meet you---and we did get out of there in the nick of time. I passed you guys as you went across the street. I was gonna honk but I did not want to scare anyone. I gotta figure out how to post our picture---it turned out very cute!

We are going to run the painters half. MARION YOU NEED TO!

From Kelli on Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 17:51:16

Oh, I have not met Laurie. Are you a teacher, I presume? I taught 6th grade for 5 years in Kearns. I so miss my job!

From laurie on Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 19:26:23

Yes I am a teacher. Science, I teach 7th and 9th grade, and have up to 43 students in just one class!!!

My husband grew up in Kearns, and I may have met you at hobblecreek Kelli, at least i met a Kelli there....I was with Kim(purple hair) and she introduced me.

From Kelli on Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 19:53:55

Oh---you know what, I remember now! At the starting line. Jody introduced me to you for a sec (I was not WITH IT---I never am before a race)!!

Good to meet you again!

From leslie on Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 20:26:18

Oh, good Kelli, I am glad you are doing Painters!

Marion, I am not sure if Harold is coming down or not. I will have to let you know when we get to the point of making reservations, we may have a condo to rent as well.
