Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Met the chicks again at 5:30 and did a neighborhood loop, I feel like I am starting all over, but am pleased I can keep up with them.  I am huffing a lot more than they are. My average pace was 13:21 because I turned on my garmin as I left the house and walked over to Jennys.  mile 1-16:39 (walking about half the mile) mile 2-12:17 (up hill) mile 3 12:59 ( up and down)  mile 4 11:20 ( up and down).  Boy, that was real technical stats!  Any way, it was a good run, pushed just hard enough to get a good work out but not over do it, the heels are feeling good.

I saw the doc and got a referral to see the podiatrist on Monday, she thinks if I have PF it is a very minor case. I didn't feel pain when she was pushing my heel, she said most people jump out of their chair. I think it is due to my icing and new insoles and exersizes and my Z Coil shoes.   Things are looking up!!!

Hi Leslie,

I just found your blog. Good luck on your 50 miler. Are you doing it this year? How is your training going? Do you do 2 back to back long runs or just one really really long one a week? I'm going to put you on my favorite list so I can watch you go!

Hi Deb! I am hoping to do the 50 miler the end of October, but it all depends on my heels. I am seeing a podiatrist on Monday and then I need to see how my marathon goes next week and then decide if my feet can handle it.My girlfriend Maurine (Tarzan on the blog) is doing it and we would like to do it together, it will be our first 50 miler, we have both done several 50k and really enjoy the longer and slower runs. I checked out your blog and noticed you are also getting in to it. It will be fun to follow your adventures too!! Good luck and let's keep each other updated!! Nice to meet you!! Western STates sounds very ambitious, I dream about the Wastach 100, but I don't think it will ever happen. It is fun to dream though.

Good luck on healing quickly and getting back to the fun! Thanks for your encouraging comments on my blog. I loved what you said about beating all the couch potatoes! It reminds me of something a friend of mine said to me once. I had won a second place age group award in a marathon -- but there were only 2 of us in that age group, lol! My friend said, "Yeah, but you beat all the ones who stayed home on the couch!" Happy running!
