Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Jen, Lisa and I did our favorite 10 mile route, from the Smiths on Wasatch to the South Mountain bridge.  We started out at 5:30, it was nice and cool the whole way, we had a nice easy pace, it was a great morning.  Lots of runners out this morning!  I had heel issues the whole way, so I probably looked pretty spazy but it was still a perfect morning. It took us 2:15, about a 13:32 min. pace, we decided we could never get away with that if Des was along, so since she was out of town we kicked back and loved it!  We did miss Des though!  I called Harold at the 8 mile mark and he came and picked us up.

Hope you all had great long runs or races, have a great weekend

Les... the heel thing! That's all I am going to say!

How is Paul doing? I am glad you had a very nice run :) Slow and easy! YEAH!!

Thanks so much leslie for a great run. Sorry your heels are giving you grief. tell Harold thanks again for the ride.

You are a heel for not healing your heels! Do I have to nag you about that - instead of drinking? If we are going to do a 50 miler, you need to find out what is up with them.

Thanks for calling and checking on me. It's nice to know somebody out there loves me.

ALRIGHT ALREADY!!!! I admit it! I have PF!!!

There! Are you guys happy???? I read the article you sent Marion, thanks really and truly! I guess I will follow the suggested treatments and see if I can get it under control. It said to run less, I will swim more, and try and do mostly trails. Dang, I have to do TOU and St. George, but other than that I will try and train on the trails. I guess the first step is admiting the problem!!!!! I am a PFer! The word is out! I will conquer this!!!!

Thanks Maurine and Marion, I needed that!!

Good girl! Now, don't you feel better? We do ;) Be good and swim and bike like a mad woman this week and do all of those exercises this week. My sister-in-law said the only way it got better for her was doing all that stuff on the site, ALL THE TIME. She did not quit running. She said PF is pretty tenatious though, but so are you ;D I'll get a more detailed report from her on monday. She's a Boston Marathon runner and everything. She ROCKS!

We have miles and mile of canal trails down here, are they up there too?

From leslie on Sat, Aug 09, 2008 at 16:22:54

Okay, I will be a good girl, so your sister-in-law still runs? Does she do trails? Is she cured? I will follow the advice on the site, except I will do the 2 marathons. It is kind of a relief to know what to do about this. Thanks again!

From marion on Sat, Aug 09, 2008 at 16:37:19

Yes, she runs EVERYDAY and is speedy. She ran boston this year and is running it again next year. If I remember correctly, she struggled with PF for about 6 months :( But I'll see her monday and ask for more specifics then. XOXOX

From leslie on Sat, Aug 09, 2008 at 16:44:32

Oh please do!!! I would LOVE to know exactly what she did, especially during the 6 months, and what she does to keep it from coming back!!! I am sitting here with frozen water bottles under my feet as we blog, and I just told my little chics I am not running on pavement with then any more except for the 2 marathons. Trails or crosstraining from now on. My hubby wants me to bike with him, it is not my favorite thing, but I will have good company. thanks Marion!
