Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

God Bless Chandlers Shoe store and the nice PT who owns it!  Thanks Ardith for referring me to them.  I wrote in my blog yesterday that the PT(I wish I had his name, nice older guy) checked out my feet. Yes, I have PT, he also said I have plantar warts, ( I always thought that I had glass in my feet that had grown over to make callouses, they always hurt, but then I run to the point where they go numb and I can't feel it anymore)  He also said the pads of my feet have worn down (due to age.....Yeck!)  Anyway, he gave me exersizes to do, a new insole that is built up more in the arch and more padded than the one I got at Wasatch Running, and he told me to take 600mg of Vit.I 3 times a day until I feel better, he told me to cut my mileage down, but that I didn't need to quit!!  Yahoo!!  I am a miserable person if I don't get my run in.

I woke up with my feet feeling better than they have in weeks!  I did a 2.07 easy run to the first bridge up on the Little Cottonwood trail. I felt great, I didn't even have to land on my toes and then my heel to avoid pain!

I am going to follow the PT's orders religiously!  He also said NEVER go barefoot!

All  you young runnners, please take care of your feet, you will get old one day and I KNOW you want to run forever so take care of them.  NO flip flops unless they have support!  I spent $50 on a pair of "Fitflops", they came recommended by a friend who had PF and is now fine.

I am so happy!  Have a great day!

REALLY! You have PF? Who'd a thunk it :) I am SO glad you went!! Yeah!! on the mend my dear!!

Alright- I am the bare foot queen of the WORLD! I hate all shoes! What do I do to avoid feet problems?

Marion, I have been a barefoot girl or flip flops all my life, like you, I am a California girl and then lived in the Islands for years. My motto is SHOES SUCK ( sorry ladies, this is a family friendly site!) Anyway, you need support or your arches will FALL! As we get old, they break down, so you can prevent it to some degree by wearing supportive shoes. Throw those flip flops away or get some fancy dance FIT FLOPS or someother supportive sandel. There is my lecture for the day!

Leslie

I can recomment a good foot doctor who can help you with the plantar warts. joni told me about him and I took Taylor in there yesterday. Nice doctor - Tyler Collins by St marks.

So glad you felt better and could get a run in.

Glad you are happy and feeling positive about the foot progress. Hang in there and keep on keeping on!
