Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

4 mile run up to the Canyon Raquet Club and back.

Nutrition was pretty good yesterday, about an  8, but the scale didn't show me any love.....

9.0 to goal  ( .1 down from yesterday)

My big test is to see if I can get thru the weekend without blowing it.  I have a birthday party Sunday.

I am looking forward to a chilly Breast Cancer run/walk tomorrow!

Everyone have a great weekend!!

PS  I took my Vit. I and my heels felt much better, plus recommited to doing my exersizes!  I love doing the ice, so I am faithful about that.  I will get this taken care of!!

Good job, Leslie!

Now - can you go and run for me today?

From marion on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 11:15:41

Of course we will run for you today. I'll take 2 and Les will take two. ;)

Great run Leslie! I am glad the heels are feeling better. Just be really good for longer than you think, and then one day it will be gone :D

From leslie on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 11:40:31

I am going to pull out the silk long underwear and full on winter gear for tomorrow!!

Good advice for the heels! I will conquer this!!

Your post on my blog made me laugh. Thank you for the compliments on my family- even if you didn't mean me ;)

I see that you started running at 40. That makes me feel better about starting at 35! You are an inspiration; when I grow up, I want to be like you!

From leslie on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 13:55:06

Oh my! I am an airhead, I was looking at the picture of you and girls on the couch, so I meant you....just wrong name! You look like 3 teenagers there on the couch! You didn't give a lot of running info on your site, are you training for a specific race right now? How long have you been running? What state are you in? Sorry for all the questions.

I have enjoyed running, when you start as late in life as I have you don't have high expectations, I am always just happy to cross the finish line. Makes me feel like wonderwoman every time! I am slow, but enjoying it alot!!

I joined the blog just to communicate with Mike while he is in Iraq, but actually ended up using it as a tool to help me get back into running.

I ran for a few years when I was younger, and was pretty decent at it. I ran races regularly, but never anything over a half marathon. I injured my knee at age 26, two weeks before my first marathon. I was devestated. I have made some attempts to get back into running over the years, but finally decided to buckle down and make it happen. I miss running. I'm not super fast, but I'm like you- just happy to be doing it. I registered for a half marathon coming up in February. We'll see how that goes, then set goals from there.

The girls and I are in California, Mike is in Iraq until July 2009. I only look like a teen from far away. I laugh too much and play in the sun too much, so my wrinkles tell on me when I'm close up. And every wrinkle was worth it :)

I will update my profile a little- I didn't realize how sparse it actually is. I also thought no one would ever read it except for Mike. I had no idea this site was so social! I'm really enjoying having such a supportive community of runners of all levels. It's very motivational.

From Kelli on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 14:18:35

Oh, we are SOCIAL!!!!

I have no warm clothes for this walk. I need to go winter running clothes shopping. See, I usually quit about now for the winter. Kind of like hibernating! I have been a bear for years.

Hope you continue to heal your heel! I hope to see you tomorrow, having car issues , but working on it!

From leslie on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 15:09:08

Kungfublonde, thanks for the update! I am a California girl too, I grew up in Pasadena, and Pacific Palisades, my folks now have a place in San Juan Capistrano, so I get to go back once or twice a year.

Yes, the blog is very social, it is a great place to learn and vent and compare notes and have FUN!

Kelli, I hope I see you at the run tomorrow, I am just going to jog/walk. I don't want to think about speed for a while...maybe never....this is going to be a social run for sure!!!

From marion on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 15:48:09

I'm a California girl too. I grew up in the BAy Area, Los GAtos/Santa Cruz. We are a bit social and chatty :) But it keeps us out of trouble!! and runing!!

From Kelli on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 16:48:04

Oh, hey wait!!! I thought we were walking only. I am for that!

From marion on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 16:54:07

I am running, but if everyone else wants to walk, I'm all over that. So long as Maurine has the chocolate, I don't care! Maybe we should meet at Starbucks and get a grande Salty Carmel Hot Chocolate! YUMMY!!! I may bring some hot chocolate.

From tarzan on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 16:56:44

I am running so I won't be cold as long.

I am bringing hot chocolate.

I am bringing Italian chocolate.

I, I, I - its all about me.

From Kelli on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 17:09:37

That is a good point---if we run, we will finish faster! Marion---I still need you to PM me your cell # so I can find you.

Any ideas where to park? I do not know that area (although my brother lives just up the street----I do not visit.)

From leslie on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 17:09:51

Okay girls, looks like we are all set for a good time!! Marion, is this a big race? How will we find you? I will have a pink jacket, but this is Breast Cancer, will everyone be in Pink?? Maurine, DON'T FORGET THE CHOCOLATE!!! I will not bend to peer pressure, I AM WALKING!!! ( Well maybe shuffeling if I get caught up in the hype) Kelli, how will we indentify you??

From Kelli on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 17:13:58

I have not yet gone through my "wardrobe"

and decided what to wear. All black is always a good bet for me! I seriously do not have anything warm enough to run in. I was thinking a BIG coat---but then I have to walk! It is really going to be COLD!

From marion on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 17:25:10

And I love you, ALL! Maurine, right now, because of the chocolate, you are my favorite person in the WORLD!!!

Maurine has my cell # and I will be at the Weight WAtchers tent with all of my little chicks! My boy chicks are going to stay home. No fun to have freezing little boys!

From Kelli on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 17:31:19

I do not know Maurine, but I will just head for the tent. I hope they have a heater in it!

From marion on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 17:34:42

It's a little pathetic tent :) We will know eachother, like long lost soul mates who see eachother from across the room! hahahahah. I know Leslie and Kellie- Maurine will be easy- we all have chocolate sonar and will hone in on her in a second!

From Kelli on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 17:39:14

Okey dokey smokey!
