Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Upper body work out at Bootcamp.  We have a new recruit and it is so entertaining to watch some one else wear the 30lb vest and be screamed at all hour.  It is a riot.  It is funny that they can be so horrid during Hellweek and then so nice for the rest of the time.  I thought our 30ish man was going to cry today. Hahahaha!  I am so evil!

Did 3.27 with Julie, this week we are doing run 3 min. and walk 1 min. She did great! At the end of our hour session I told Julie to push it for 1 min. and she ran .09 of a mile, I am keeping track of her time here so we can see her progress.

Sounds like you're becoming quite a boot camp veteran...if you can laugh at a new recruit.

GOOD JOB coaching Julie. Have you signed her up for any race?

I am a naughty girl for sure!!!

WE have not signed up for a 5k yet, I am thinking about the Wheeler Farm one on Nov. 7th, but we shall see.

Now off for a nap, boot camp has me plum tuckered out by about 4 or 5 every day.

Leslie, I am so excited! I just bought some hiking clothes that fit (all my others were like 5 sizes too big) on clearance at REI along with some nice new hikers/runners. So, I'm hiking the tram with my sister tomorrow, then next week I need to meet you somewhere for one of your weekly hikes!!

Oh, and I seriously thought about boot camp, until you said you have to wear a 30 lb vest the first week? DANG! That makes me tired just thinking about having to put all that weight back on. YOU are the WOMAN!!!!

Rachel, I am going to be hiking Mon and Tue. morning next week. Let me know if that works for you!!! Have you hiked Desolation Lake in Big Cottonwood or the 5 Lakes in Big Cottonwood ?(there is a great loop that covers Silver Lake, Mary, Martha, Catherine and Dog Lake) it is about 5 1/2 miles and very scenic! I hope it works that you can come!!! Ya gotta give those hiking clothes a test run!
