Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

3 miles around the neighborhood.  I ate to much over the weekend, Paradise Bakery cookies after the run/Bloggers Party/SuperBowl Sunday, it doesn't do much for your Monday morning run.  Super sluggish.  I am going to have to watch it close these next few days, I will be lucky if I don't gain, I will settle for just holding on for dear life my meager little loss.

I may go out for a run this afternoon, I am not very happy with 3 miles.

Have a  great week everyone!

I got out and did some speed  work!  This is totally out of my comfort zone to go back out after I am dressed for the day. I need a lesson on my garmin, I will get Maurine to help me.  I NEVER touch my garmin when I run,  I do potty stops, rest stops whatever, so this time I hit my lap button every time I did a sprint.  I did 12 sprints, the longest one was 3 min., most of them were between 1 and 2 mintes.  The 3 fastest were 8:?? and the rest were all 9:??  I was pretty happy with that, but I was walking inbetween the sprints.  I  actually had a fun time, I just need to know how to do it correctly and learn how to put the results on the blog right, so it makes sense, and then I can come back and see how I improve.  I am looking forward to my butt crack of dawn run with Maurine on Wed. to do some speed work with her.

Yeah - go run some more - you will feel less sluggish. It worked for me :)

okay, I just read your blog and feel like such a slug! I will try and get out again and put in a decent pace! It is really hard for me to get dressed and do my hair and make-up and go out again, but I just may do it!!

I don't want you to feel like a slug. Or like you need to push yourself. I am in a mode this year to see what I can physically do. If you want to do that - you need to learn to not use excuses. End of lecture.

I have to kick it up a notch for sure for Sunmart, I may as well start now and TRY and follow your lead. See ya Wed. morning!!! I am excited to see how it goes.

Leslie, I am SO PROUD of you for going back out there after you already showered and dressed and put make up on. Maurine is a great coach. You listen to her. GOOD GIRL for not making any excuses and just DO IT.

Did you say you ran some speed paces in the 8's and 9's? WOW! Have you ever download your workout onto your computer? When I'm done running, I plug my Garmin onto the PC which has the "Training Center" and I get immediate feedback of my workout.

High Fives to Leslie! Good for you for getting back out there and getting in speed work. I am proud of you too!

Smooth and Maurine, I did down load my garmin today, it was a mile long since I was pushing my lap button every couple of minutes, but it was helpful to see that I did do 12 little bursts of speed at a decent pace. Yes, Maurine is a great coach, she doesn't hit too hard! I am excited about our Wed. work out.
