Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

TODAY WAS THE BEST RUN OF 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to back track to yesterday, I ran out of Naproxin, my prescription Ibprofen, so I went to Target to get it filled and they couldn't do it until they talked to my doctor, so I was bummed, because I have been feeling so horrible these last few months. Last night I took 3 200mg of Motrin, and then took 3 this morning and then met Gary and took off to Millcreek.

We parked his car at Einsteins and mine at the top of the road where they close it for winter and ran up to Elbow Fork and then hopped on the Pipeline and ran all the way to the end and then turned around and ran down Rattlesnake Gulch.  By the time we hit the road we were at about 11 miles.  I had absolutely NO PAIN and felt like a million bucks the entire time.  After about 10 miles I wanted to cry I was so happy.  I felt like a kid, tons of energy and loving every minute of it.  So, at mile 11 we hit the road and ran on the side of the road for almost 2 miles to Einsteins, we were doing about a 10:?? minute mile pace.  So we get to the car and realized Gary's keys were in my car at the top of the canyon so, Gary, being half superman runs back up the canyon 5 miles to get the car and I speed walk up to Church Fork and hike up to get my jacket I left hidden.    Our timing was perfect, Gary pulled up just as I got back to the road.

I am sure that the Naproxin is the culprit here, I am so glad the prescription wasn't filled.  The moral of this story is doctors don't always know what is best!! I am buying stock in Motrin.  Another plus for my great run was,  #1 a FABULOUS TRAIl,  #2  Amazing weather #3 Great Company.

I feel like have been given a new lease on life!!!!!!!!  Watch out Ogden, here I come!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for all your helpful comments, I am going to figure out a way to adjust my training and get better, but I think I figured out the number one problem today!!!!

Hey - I bought the EAS Protein powder from Costco and it says a serving is 2 scoops - however I can't find a scoop in my bag. Can someone please measure 2 scoops and tell me how much that converts to in 1/4 cups?

From leslie on Wed, May 06, 2009 at 18:51:38 from 76.23.61.78

Yeah, and then let me know, where is the mystery scoop?

From Kelli on Wed, May 06, 2009 at 19:34:18 from 71.219.98.88

YEAH!!!! And I agree, doctors do not always know what is best!

I am so happy that you had a great run!!!

From Gary Horlacher on Wed, May 06, 2009 at 19:59:09 from 76.23.4.171

What a fun day. I know what to get you for Christmas now (Motrin). That was so much fun. Not only was the scenery beatiful and the breeze and sounds invigorating but being positive and flexible made the company very enjoyable. We'll have to talk to Maurine about how to work with her schedules. Once this marathon is over maybe we can do a few more long Saturday runs.

PS. Justin's Joint Health supplement is called "Glucosamine & Chondroitin Soft Chews". I guess you got half of it.

From marion on Wed, May 06, 2009 at 22:01:21 from 71.219.54.64

Maurine- i can't find the scoop either!! I have been weighing it ;D I will measure it tomorrow.

Leslie- YEAH!!! Woo Hoo! I am So glad that the universe took over and straightened your medicine issues all out :) Yippeee!!!!! Glucosamine and Chondroitin are VERY important to us aging athletes! Oh, a member tonight told me that she was doing the Jordanelle Tri. She may email me so I can forward it to you for advice. she is in her late 50's and VERY excited :)
