Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Race: Park City Marathon (26.2 Miles) 06:02:00
Total Distance
26.20

Park City went just as I was hoping.  I was hoping for about a 6 hour time, since it was a training run for SG, I just wanted to finish feeling good, mission accomplished, I feel great!!!! The bootcamp has helped, I had no aches or pains, my legs felt much stronger than they did during Ogden.   Gary and Maurine and I started at 5:40 and ran together for 6 miles and then Maurine took off.  Gary paced me the whole way, it was great to have him there, he is always so positive and fun to be with.  Saw several friends along the way, Rachel and Smooth at about mile 14, Ben at mile 16, Karen at mile 18, and a real treat was this handsome young man that came up to me and said, are you Leslie Peterson? He was the race director from the Red Mountain 50K and recognized me, he rememebered Gary too, and we chatted for awhile. He said there is going to be a Red Mountain 50K next year.  It is my all time favorite race!!!!!  Sorry no splits or any more details, it just doesn't matter, it was a beautiful day and I feel like a million bucks. Harold is going to give me a massage now, and then we are going to the Gallivan Center to see a Kalai Concert.  Oh, after the race, Ernie and Gary and Harold and I ate at Squaters. It is a most perfect day!!  Thank you Gary for hanging with me, you are an excellent Sherpa and  Pacer and friend.

YEAH----you know how much I wanted to do that race!!! I hope I can.

Awesome job today! You have been the perfection of training and listening to your body, St George is going to be a great race. Wish I could have been there to cheer for you, but I was in spirit!!

Thanks Kelli! I just got a massage, and I am giddy that I feel so good, I am so excited I don't think I can take a nap. Nothing hurts, no blisters, nothing!!!! I wish you could have been there. How are you feeling my dear? I think you should do the Red Mountain 50K next year, it is such an awesome race!!!!

I need a foot massage! My foot really hurts today, not sure why. The PT yesterday is the MEAN one that hurts me, so maybe that is why.

Enjoy the rest of the day---take in that darn successful run!

Great job, Leslie. I am proud of you for finishing near your goal and not being miserable like you were at Ogden. Sorry I did not stick around longer, but I needed to pick up the pace and figured you had Gary there to help you.

Great job Maurine!!!! It all worked out perfect, Gary's plan was to pace me, and it worked out great. It was a fun day, glad we got to spend some time together. I am optimistic about SG now.

Kelli, You will love Red Mountain!! It will definitely keep me running thru the winter to stay in shape. I am so excited too!

Burt,Hey handsome, I will look for you in a future race!

Teena, thanks, I bet you are on cloud nine with your PR! I just woke up this morning with absolutely no pain, I can do stairs and the potty without assitance or any effort at all,I am so happy!

Marion, yes, Bootcamp is my magic bullet indeed, I am hooked! This is my first marathon where I have not gained weight either, the scale was down a half pound this morning.

Leslie! It was so good to see you on the course! You are such a beautiful lady! I am so so so happy that you have zero soreness. You're so ready for SGM!!! I wanted to wait for you and Maurine; but Bec had to get back to work and hubby wanted to usher us out of that heat quick. Sorry!
