Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Painters was a blast!  Harold and I met up with Marion, Dave, Kelli, Scott, Smooth and Pres. Smooth, Jon and Kelly and afew others, sorry I forgot all the names for dinner and visiting. It was so much fun to get to know everyone better, in real life!

The race was awesome, my plan was to plug into my ipod and enjoy the first run of the year slow and easy. I thought I would start with with Kelli and Marion and see how long I could keep up and I made it the whole way. It was SO much fun!!!  The girls kept me entertained with lots of stories, I was thrilled to be able to stay with them thru the race. It was fun to see all the fastrunning bloggers pass us by.  Jon and Kelly and Scott came back to herd is in to the finish.  Thanks guys, it felt good to know we had friends to come back and help us finish.   I don't have my computer to figure out the splits, hopefully Marion or Kelli will do a more detailed report.  I think we averaged about a 11:12 pace.   Thanks Kelli for being such a great cheerleader, and congratulations Marion for completing your first half marathon.  It was so much fun to run with you both, you are AWESOME!!!!

Smooth where were you?  We missed you!!!!!  I hope Teena made it thru okay!

*****  I just got home and read everyones blog, my entry is not very detailed, please read Kelli and Marion's entry for a better account of our run.  I don't know how Marion can remember that much detail from each mile, it is all a blur to me.   The picture on the bottom left is of me with Lisa ( one of my running chicks from last summer) and her cute daughter Brooke that did the 5K.*****

Great job, Leslie! Thanks for the race report here and thanks for calling in with a race report. I was awful jealous of you all heading down there, but Sarah and I had a great time (my throat is sore from talking so much)

Leslie,

What an AWESOME race and weekend for you. You are incredible. Way to hang with Marion and Kelli ...

I finally found Smooth, but unfortunately not until the race had ended.

I am so excited for you!! Nice work! And yes, I made it thru okay!! You're so cute! :)

Sounds like you had fun. Good for you!

From Smooth on Sat, Jan 17, 2009 at 22:41:34

Leslie!!!

It was so fun to hang out with you and the gang for dinner. You and Harold are a great couple!

Our cars got separated at the Dixie Center. I couldn't find anybody at the start. That's the disadvantage for being such a shortie. Anyway, I missed you guys the entire run. At the finish I saw lotsa friends and wanted to stay and chat. But hubby herded me out of there as soon as he could.

I am so proud of you for staying with Marion and Kelli and had such a fun and awesome run.

I really wish we could all be neighbors.

CONGRATS again for finishing your first race of the year in flying colors. Love you.

Leslie, you had an awesome run! You are one tough cookie, for real. I HOPE I can runt that well when I am as YOUNG as you!

We had the avg pace at 11:12 exactly, but I do not have splits as my Garmin died. I bet Marion does, I have not checked yet.

Again, you did great! Thanks for letting me run with you and for putting up with me!
