Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

My first run since Ogden.  A beautiful run thru Capital Reef on red dirt trails.  Amazing scenery and weather. My dad dropped me off and picked me up after he went birding.  I didn't see a soul on the entire length of the trail.  Slow and easy, no pain, just perfect.

I have been talking to my sons and dad about my running, they are all in agreement that if I want to run another 10 years I need to stay on the trails, something that I think about often and have mentioned on my blog,  I am going to try  and stick with this plan, it was awesome today to be in such beautiful country and enjoy the soft trails and feel no pain.

I am going to be in Torrey until Thursday with my son Tracey working on my folk's ranch, it has been so much fun to spend some time with my family.  Julie and Paul and Chris were here for awhile, but have left, so it is just Tracey and I for the rest of our trip.

Enjoy your running! Stay injury free and eat some sugar cookies for me!!  Last night we went to Cafe Diablo and had the most amazing meal EVER!!!

Good-bye from the desert!

Hi my little homie!!! Glad to hear you and Marion nailed that 20 miler!!!! You guys are going to rock!!

Its nice to get an update. Sounds like you are having an excellent family bonding.

I think we should do trail running but don't you want to do the marathons that you have already paid for this year before changing your running goals?

Hope we can run this coming Saturday but don't stress it if you are too busy recovering from your trip! LOL

P.S. I tried to send you an email about possibly running on Saturday morning but you and Harold both have a protection on that is denying access to my emails. My email address changed to yahoo.com and I no longer use the xmission.com email address so you may have to fix it so you can accept emails from me (garyhorlacher@yahoo.com) if we are to communicate by email.

Gary, I will have Harold look at your email, we need to be able to stay in touch. I am not sure what is going on Sat. I will call you tomorrow night when I get home.

As for the road marathons I have paid for, I am leaving it open, it is nice to be able to be flexible. If I don't run UVM, we could do a trail run maybe. The one thing I know for sure is I will go the expo and get me a T Shirt!!!

What a GREAT run :) The trails are really nice :) I sure do like to soft shoulder. Do you take glucosamine?

From leslie on Thu, May 28, 2009 at 00:38:14 from 216.169.65.23

hi Marion! Yes I do take glucosamine. You are on a roll! You are going to smoke UVM!!! I wish I was as prepared, I am feeling rather wimpy and may back out.

I have only run once since Ogden and that was yesterday. I head off to the beach house in a week and don't get back home until the 12th. It is not looking real good for me. It is all good though. I will be a better blogger when I get home.

So good to hear from you!!! :) She's ALIVE!!! :D Maybe you don't need the grand slam? That'd be ok, you know :) MAybe if you biked or swim the days you don't run? Give those cute feet a rest :) I'm gonna go buy a pool pass today for morning swims. I am thinking about a fall tri. I think it would be a good recovery plan for post marathon training. Do you know of any good September tri's?

From leslie on Thu, May 28, 2009 at 09:25:47 from 216.169.65.23

Woo hoo!! Our pool is open now too, that is my plan as well. I will keep my eyes open for a tri, we hope to do one too!
