Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

I am pooped!!!  Met Gary and Maurine at the JRP,  we had a great time talking, I felt achy in my legs and joints from the start thru the finish. I need to get in better shape.  By mile 16 I was dead and told the others to go ahead with out me, both Gary and Maurine felt strong and zipped away.  I walked my sorry butt back to the car.  I feel like I have run a marathon, ouch!  Now off to a wedding shower, I will try and be perky, but I feel like climbing into bed for the rest of the day.  I was glad to have Gary and Maurine's company, I just would never have made it. Thanks guys! Gary just moved here from Long Beach, he has run 3 ultras with me, I am hoping to get him on the blog, he is a great guy.

You did good! We just need to get you running longer distances more often. Pretty good mileage for the week!

Aren't you glad we ran this morning? I'm listening to the rain on the roof of my office and glad I am not out in it.

From Kelli on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 18:08:49 from 71.219.83.91

I hope you missed the rain and had good weather! Sorry you are pooped, but 18 miles is a long way!

Maurine, yes, I thought our weather was about perfect this morning, sorry you are in your office, I am relaxing at home and refusing to lift a finger.

Kelli, I need to be able to do 18 with out dying, I will work on it! I bet it feels good to have 22 under your belt!

That was fun. You are amazing, crazy woman. I went home and crashed for four hours. Doing much better now. Looking forward to next run on Wednesday am.

I met da boy for dinner at Noodles & Co in Sugarhouse and picked up a couple of books at Barnes & Noble. Hopefully another hour or so and I can get out of here.

GOOD JOB getting your 18 miler done! It will be easier the next time you run long. Rest up good.

Leslie,

I hope your "tired butt" is fast asleep in bed right now!

You're a riot!

Have a great Sunday!

Leslie Sweetie,

I sent my registration for Utah Valley and St. George the day before leaving for Boston. Yesterday I handed in a check of $112.5 for the Wasatch Back Relay which is 6 days after Utah Valley. You think I did a pretty good job stimulating the economy? I'm spending our retirement $$ before Larry retires. That's forward thinking, right?

Now Boston is over, I'm so excited for the Grand Slam. Let'er roll! You and I and Maurine are gonna rock the Slam this year. What are we doing for the big celebration? OV50 looks very tempting!

From leslie on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 12:23:35 from 76.23.61.78

Thank you Smooth for stimulating the economy!!! I can't believe you are going to do the Wasatch Back, have you done that before? Who is on your team?

I am looking forward to the Slam, but need to get in better shape, yesterday's run kicked my butt. I can feel my age, but I am determined to NOT use it as an excuse, I just need to get busy and get buff!!!! Help!!!!! Granny is feeling the pain!

I bet it feels so good to be in tip top shape after Boston, you can just sail thru the Slam and enjoy it!!!

Oh, thanks for welcoming Gary, he is a great guy! You will meet him at Ogden, he will be doing the early start with me, so say hi as you run by. That will be so fun to be able to see all my fast friends run past me at Ogden.

have a great Sunday!

From maurine on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 12:29:50 from 97.117.57.193

Smooth - that would be great if you joined us for the OV50! Of course, you would be rested, massaged, showered and maybe home before we ever finished.

From Smooth on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 12:42:32 from 71.36.71.239

Leslie,

The WBR team I'm in are people in my Stake. They've asked me to join them the last couple of years. I didn't run it last year b/c it was the same weekend my son had his mission farewell. I am the OLDEST person on the team. They promised they won't get mad at me for fouling up their time.

Gary sounds like a great guy. I look forward to meeting him.

I'm with Maurine, the Slam is just training runs for SGM for me.

Maurine,

50 miles scare me! You're the Ultra Queen here. It will be dillusional for me to run OV50. I'm thinking if my schedule permit, I'll come out to cheer you and Leslie.

From marion on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 22:27:11 from 71.213.126.135

Wow-wee Leslie! You are an ANIMAL! 18 is 18 no matter what! I really would have loved to run with y'all!

I am going to be in the cheering section with Smooth for the Ov50
