Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Decided at the last minute to try the Crest even though we heard it wasn't quite ready.  Gary and Ernie joined us to scout out the trail, it was gorgous, it was about 95% clear of snow.  I knew the Millcreek road was closed, but I still made plans to have Harold meet us at the parking lot at Big Water, duh......  so we had to run down to the road closure, so there you have it 16 plus miles. Not as much traffic as usual, it is probably because of the road closure.  Ernie is a born trail runner, he lead the entire way, he looks like a dear prancing, effortless.  Great morning, now off to Snowbird.

I LOVE the Crest run. It sounds like a great morning. I will be hitting it up soon myself.

I am up at Snowbird, let me know the next time you can go and I will try and make it. Thanks for asking!

Nice work! Crud, I need to start running on trails...when will I ever do it???

So, I still have not sent in my registration. I keep getting cold feet. if I could just stay in a hotel and be right there, I would jump on it. My entire family wants to come and camp, and for some reason that scenario worries me. You have done this before, right? Where did you camp?? Are we going to have a difficult time finding somewhere?

kelli - JUST DO IT!

From leslie peterson on Tue, Jun 29, 2010 at 16:10:54 from 63.226.105.150

Kelli the camp ground is right where the starting line is. I don't remember making reservations, but maybe I should double check. I haven't registered yet, but I will try to in the next few days. I think you will love it, it is a fun course. It has sure grown since I did it.

oh yeah, listen to KP. KP are you going to join us?

I just checked online, I think you do have to make reservations, especially now the race is so big.

psssshhhhhhh... I WISH!

if i didn't live in alabama, i would seriously consider it. every race needs someone to finish last, right?!?!

From Smooth on Tue, Jun 29, 2010 at 18:32:29 from 68.105.208.132

I haven't registered yet. Larry doesn't like to camp out. It's been awhile since I've slept in a tent. Can't be that bad, can it? But then I don't sleep well in a hotel bed either.

From leslie peterson on Tue, Jun 29, 2010 at 18:34:50 from 174.52.158.81

I figure we are tuff broads and can do anything for one night!!! I haven't signed up yet, but will in a couple of days.

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 29, 2010 at 18:59:42 from 71.219.99.30

It says you need reservations for the one right by the start. But there are some FREE campgrounds (that I do not think can be reserved) about 7 miles out. If you stay in town it is only an hour drive and the race starts at 8 to accommodate for that, so i think a hotel would not be so bad! We are trying to convince Scott's brother to bring his 5th wheel, then we can fit in that with their family and I can have a shower!!!! If not, in a tent we go! I will have to go buy a BIG one to fit me and my 18 kids.

Thanks Kelli, I guess I need to get on this, I want to camp at the campground close to the start. Let's do this!!!

From pope_girl on Wed, Jun 30, 2010 at 10:52:24 from 97.117.106.60

I called the number for the campsite and they were not taking reservations that far out yet. They only were going until the 13th of October.

Thanks, let me know when you sign up and I will too! Thanks for the heads up!
