Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Is bootcamp tough?

From Maurine/Tarzan on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 12:46:42 from 63.255.172.2

Good job. Keep up the good work. It will pay off in the end.

From leslie peterson on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 13:08:32 from 76.23.61.78

Maurine, I just had some yummy pancakes. It has cottage cheese, oatmeal and eggwhites, cinnamon and vanilla in it. I just put it in the blender. So good.

From leslie peterson on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 13:27:25 from 76.23.61.78

Burt, yes bootcamp is tough, I love it, I love that someone tells me exactly what to do and I don't have to think about it. I go from 5 to 6am, 5 times a week and I am done with strength training for the day. I just signed up for another 6 weeks.

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 13:40:02 from 70.56.102.171

Another 6 weeks!!! YOU DA WOMAN! You'll be the Bootcamp posterchild! That pancake sounds SO GOOD and deleeesh! Can't wait to see you on Sat.

From leslie peterson on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 13:57:58 from 76.23.61.78

Smooth, make sure to say HI as you run past me!!!!! Do you think I can be ready for SG in 6 weeks???? I think I better get serious and have a real plan!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 14:19:26 from 71.32.239.100

Leslie, I am certain that I will barely catch you by the finish. I will be so dead...YOU better say HI to me when you see me hobbling in. :)

Yes, you WILL be ready for SG! Wendy and her family just did their longest run of the year on Sat., a 16 miler. They are following Hal Higdon's schedule faithfully. You are way ahead of the game. Your bootcamp and all that hiking is going to pay off. After PCM, take a week to recover well; then steadily build up the mileage for 3-4 weeks and taper for 2-3 weeks. Have faith, my friend! You are doing it!

From leslie peterson on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 14:56:55 from 76.23.61.78

Thanks for the positive words!! I am going to really work hard these next 6 weeks!!!!!! Yes, if I see you jet past me, I will holler and say Hello!!!!

From Teena on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 16:05:57 from 67.177.20.13

Those pancakes do sound good. Will you post the exact recipe??

You are so tough!!! Another 6 weeks of bootcamp!!! Seriously ... so diehardish!!! :)

From Maurine/Tarzan on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 16:18:44 from 63.255.172.2

Why didn't you bring any by my house? I will give them a try. Oh - you get a gelato pack for finishing Park City on Saturday.

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 16:19:15 from 71.32.239.100

No oil or water? That looks easy enough. I'm gonna get me some cottage cheese and make that. THANKS!

From leslie peterson on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 16:20:47 from 76.23.61.78

Woo hoo!!! I love that stuff!!! The pancakes are super easy and fast. I am tired of eggs, so this is like a treat. I eat too many though. Hey come over at 6:00am and I will make you some!!

From leslie peterson on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 16:22:35 from 76.23.61.78

thats right Smooth, no water or oil, there are several recipes out there, I have tried 2 now. If you do a google search for protein pancakes you can look at the other ones. Oh baby, yum!

From Teena on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 16:22:49 from 67.177.20.13

Yummy! I know what I am having for breakfast :)

Leslie, you are doing SO great!!! :)

From leslie peterson on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 18:48:14 from 76.23.61.78

Okay I made a plan for St. George, does this make sense for my long Sat. Runs?

week 1 26 miles ( PCM)

week 2 8 miles

week 3 13 miles

week 4 18 miles

week 5 12 miles

week 6 8 miles

week 7 SGM !!!!!!

For my weekly runs:

M - 4 miles

T - 6 miles

W - 4 miles

Th- 8 miles

F - Rest

* also I will be doing bootcamp thru the whole 6 weeks, so my mileage will actually be 3 miles a day more on the treadmill.*

Let me know if I am on the right track ladies, I need help!!!!!!

Oh, and I am thinking of doing most of these runs on the road, which is a big deal for me, but I need to toughen up.

From RAD on Tue, Aug 18, 2009 at 14:33:17 from 76.27.12.70

I think your plan and your pancakes sound GREAT! I also think you'll be more than ready for SGM! I'm going to be running with Smooth - even with you doing an early start I'm also not sure we'll pass you. Plans are to take it slow and easy! I don't want to have to take a full 3 weeks for recovery! I'm so excited to see you though!!!

From leslie peterson on Tue, Aug 18, 2009 at 18:54:23 from 76.23.61.78

Yay Rachel!!! You got the golden ticket!!! Or are you going to be a bandit? I plan to do walk/run it so you will catch up to me. I will look for you!!!
