Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

After being out on Antelope Island with Maurine yesterday I decided I have to get a little more serious about my running. I am not going to make huge goals here and set myself up for failure, but I do plan to kick it up a knotch and try and improve. I need to shed some weight, work on my strength training and my speed. When I say speed I mean more 10 min. miles. The most important goal will be endurance for the 50 miler in Oct. I have been coasting thru the winter and now it is spring and the running season is here, I need to RUN !!

Thanks for all the motivation from all of you on the blog, it is a huge boost for me!

Now is a great time to renew running commitments, imo. The days are longer and better fruit is appearing in the markets. lol Best wishes on your goals!

Ok - it is probably totally sick and wrong that watching people struggle and suffer make us think how neat it would be to do that ourselves.

Les - you are a great friend and a great runner. One thing I enjoy about running with you is that you enjoy running just for that itself - it does not have to be everything in your life.

We are going to so rock this summer in our running and in our endurance. We will never be local elites - but we will be the awesome, mature runners that those youngsters out there will envy.

Sno, thanks for the encouragement, yes, I am so excited for the farmers markets and all the wonderful fresh produce. I hope you are doing well, I need to check your blog it has been awhile.

Maurine, I am glad I have you to run with, even though we are older we can still improve, you are so right, we are going to have a great summer with the grand slam and the 50, half the fun is the training runs with you!

Leslie,

This is your year. No better time to renew your running love than now. It's also good to be flexible and love running for the love of running. Good to run hard or hard days and easy on easy days so that your running is not stale. You're an experienced runner. Your racing schedule is a good motivator to take it to the next level.
