Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

You are home!!!! Hope the beach vacation was refreshing and rejuvenating!

NICE work this morning!

I still haven't signed up for GV. Is it getting filled up fast?

I don't know if I'm cut out to run ultra and on dirt trail. I still have three more road marathons to run before then! Man, I'm gonna be sooooo beat up!

The vacation was great Smooth, I need to get on my training though.

3 marathons is crazy, if you don't do GV I would totally understand, but I will miss you. I love hearing about all you do! Good luck these next few months.

I have a question! Do we need trail shoes for GV? When I ran Pony Express last year, I ran with my regular road running shoes with the dirty-girl gator you told me about and changed socks once after passing thru that sandy part. Feet were fine other than I lost the two big toe nails! I have not trained on trails and wonder how much I need to do to prepare for GV!

Smooth, you don't need to do anything "extra" to train for GV, your marathons are enough training. I think you might want trail shoes, however, it wouldn't stop me from running it if I didn't have any. Glad to hear you are still considering it! I think you would really enjoy it, if you just kick back and enjoy a day in the desert, it would be less taxing than running a fast marathon on the road I think.

K, Leslie! That's the plan. I want to enjoy it. Larry wants to stay in a hotel...no camping...so I need to book a room too. I'm excited to see you and Harold!

Oh, May be I will check into some trail shoes when I find the time to go shopping!

THANK YOU Leslie, and WELCOME HOME!

It will be fun to see you there!! I hope you can make it work busy girl! I really enjoy these slower longer scenic races, you did get taste of it at the Pony Express. It is a whole different ball game. FUN FUN FUN!
