Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Today is the first day of the winter season for me at my job at the Cliff Spa at Snowbird. I work as a massage therapist.  I have done this for almost 15 years. I just do it part time in winter for some extra play money, and now that I am married, Harold is a big skiier and boarder,he gets a season pass ( I think that is why he married me- free season pass, free massages and free haircuts!#$) I hate skiing, give me the beach any day!  I really tried to get into it the first 2 winters I met Harold, but it was just too miserable and I am done with that. Anyway, I am scheduled to work Tue and Wed , the slowest days of the week, and if I don't have an appt. I don't have to go in.  Most of the time I will be called off, I have lost most of my seniority because I am now just a seasonal employee, which is exactly how I like it.  So basically Harold gets a ski pass and I, for the most part, have 2 days off a week, the rest of the week I work out of my home doing hair and massage. I LOVE having 2 days off in the middle of the week. Alot of times, I have to call every hour, so I can't  really plan anything, but if it is super slow they will tell me that I am called off for the day.  So I am hoping to get called off today and go to Park City and run the rail trail with Odee and then maybe look around at the Outlets!

I will post the rest of  my miles this afternoon, I took Odee on a 2 mile run around the park this morning.

6.8 from goal

Park City was gorgous, HOT and SUNNY!  I went on the trail around the Swaner Natural Preserve, which is part of the Park City Marathon route.  I ended up doing about half of it walking, just enjoyed my lollygaggling!  I didn't find anything at the outlets, but got a fabulous salad at the Wholefoods store! Now I am going to do weights at the rec center. Yes you heard me weights, I hate weights, but I am going over there right now and doing it!!!!

I DID MY WEIGHT TRAINING TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to Yoga with Harold at 7:00 tonight!

I hope you can get away to Park City today and have another fun run!

From Lucia on Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 10:15:19

How fun!!! I am so jealous! Love the Park City area. Funny that your hubby married you for the ski pass! When my dad married my mom, her father owned a chocolate factory. He sold it a few months after they were married, and my dad always claims it was a plot to get him to marry my mom! Have fun out there!

From Kelli on Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 14:23:36

Marrying for ski passes and chocolate!!! What did I marry for? Hmmm....I have no idea. Maybe it was the string cheese he used to always bring me for lunch??

I hope you get in a great run. Even more, I hope you get in some great shopping!!! HAVE FUN on your HOPEFULLY day off. What a fun job. I had no idea you did either of those things. I need a haircut person! I have not had my hair cut since January of last year.

We are so in tune with each other---6.2 to my goal. I am being so good as the running my be going down the tubes soon!

Kelli, I want you to do really really good on your weightloss, because I tend to be right there with you! I hope that darn knee gets better, I can't believe you rode your bike 26 miles! What kind of rest is that my dear friend??

I am not very good with long hair Kelli, or I would say come on down, most of my clients are my age and older and I haven't kept up with the new styles, but if you ever just want a trim and nothing fancy, give me a call.

From leslie on Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 14:58:30

Lucia, I would marry for chocolate any day!! It sounds so good right now!!!

From kungfublonde on Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 15:14:59

I just have to tell you that I love whole foods. I go there all the time. One time I went with a freind for lunch and her salad (sold by weight) was $17!! I couldn't stop laughing. She just likes all the heavy stuff, I guess :)

I'm a beach girl, too. But I think this winter I am going to finally try cross country skiing. Have you done that? I have a feeling I will still manage to crash into a tree and fall down a lot, though...

From Kelli on Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 15:15:27

All I ever get is a trim, once a year! I actually cut my own hair about 2 months ago. All of this curly hair is crazy. It never looks right becasue people comb it all out straight when they cut it. They need to cut it when it is dry and curly!! So, I did it myself. Every few days i find a random hair that is long and not curling, so I just cut it. Pretty soon I will have no hair left.

I have been an angel with WW points for two days now. I hope I can keep it up, I need to stop pigging out!! I love food so much.

Oh, and the bike was just a break. I was just moving slowly along while I read Twilight.

From leslie on Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 16:20:40

Rachel, that was the best salad I have ever had, I think I will be living there! It is pricey though! I am hoping to do a little cross country skiing, my neighbor and her husband go all the time and I told them Harold and I would join them, we are going to go on a golf course where it is flat in Park City, and then go have lunch!! The things I will do for food!! I need to check on your blog, I hope you are feeling better by now!

Kelli, Maurine and I have tickets to Twilight Friday night, it is her birthday and we are going to the Asian Star! Oh, goodie, more food!!

You are a rock star for doing points, I always run out of points too early in the day and then get onery trying to eat zero point value items. I am not a good WW girl, I wish I was!

From leslieq on Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 16:24:27

you know when I said I was going to do weights? Well, instead I crawled into bed and took a nap and now I am hungry and I have to go get in my stinkin weights, I hope I can do that rather than go to the Maverick and get a pumpkin frozen yogurt.

From leslie on Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 16:25:53

oh, Kellie I would be glad to trim your hair anytime, I don't want you bald.

From marion on Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 16:53:17

Fun job! Fun way to spend winter :)

From leslie on Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 18:07:52

Okay, I just need to let you know, I went and got a pumpkin frozen yogurt and then worked out! I did it! I pushed till it hurt! I am going to do it 3 times a week come heck or high water( I sound like a Utah Mormon, that is scarey....)

From Kelli on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 13:24:12

NUMMY---I SO love pumpkin anything!!! I may have to go see if the Maverik's by me have some of that!

Good for you for taking a nap, enjoying frozen yogurt, AND working out some more!!!

I am sticking to the points this week because my workouts are gonna be really lame. I want the 6 gone!!!

Okay, so I read the entire book yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised---I LOVED it!!!! Now, I get to go see the movie with my daughter next week sometime. I can not wait. I am glad I waited to read the book until now, all of the anticipation would have killed me!! Now, to read the rest of the books...

You two have fun! I can not wait for the report on the movie! I have never been to the Asian Star, I hear it is very good!!

From leslie on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 13:31:17

Okay Kelli, we will give you a report, dang you read fast! Did the kids have to fix cold cereal for dinner last night? :)

Good luck with the points, I have been super good too, how long can it last?? Tomorrow we are eating at Chilis, I will have the guiltless chicken sandwich and then I have dinner at the Asian Star Friday. I will make good choices!!!! ( A little positive self talk to myself!)

From Kelli on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 13:38:53

YOU WILL MAKE GOOD CHOICES!!!

Okay, the thing that was so impressive about my reading yesterday is that I DID NOT neglect anything!!! I worked out and read, then came home and did not read again until after lunch, a shower, and blogging. Then I read for about an hour and then played with my daughter for about 45 minutes. I squeezed in some more reading while I waited in the carpool line. Then, I came home and helped all of the kids with homework and then WE ALL read (they have to do 20 minutes a day, but we did 40 together). Then I made dinner soup and rolls), read some more while it cooked, collected the kids from all over the neighborhood and ate, then read some more. I was done by eight!!! I actually managed to read a book AND be a good mom!

I am, however, a very fast reader----lots of practice as a school teacher and a book freak!!

From leslie on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 13:54:29

You really are Wonder Woman! I love to read, but every time I do I start to drift off, I think it is an "old age" thing or something.
