Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

I did my Old Mill route, past the Cottonbottom, the pond and up to  the mouth of BCC.  Feeling a little sluggish, but I think it was due to a funny stomach yesterday and very little food.

Okay, that has got to be a beautiful run!

Hey are you doing the RHPC 1/2? I will be and would love to see you!

From leslie peterson on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 11:55:45 from 174.52.158.81

Hi Kelli girl with the mad crazy miles!!!! Have you offically announced you are doing the Goblin Valley 50K? I am still thinking about it......

Laurie, I am not doing it this year, it is a fun race you will love it!!!

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 14:45:29 from 71.219.99.30

Well, why the heck not????????

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 14:46:59 from 71.219.99.30

I jumped a little too far ahead to the NOT doing the RHPC race and ignored that you had asked me a question.

Yes, Goblin Valley here I come. but I have not yet registered. I have printed out the registration though so I should get on it! You need to come!!!!

From leslie peterson on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 15:14:14 from 174.52.158.81

I am seriously thinking of Goblin, I wish I could make up my mind, you and Laurie are doing it, that makes it very tempting. I need to make up my mind.

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 15:14:53 from 71.219.99.30

JUST DO IT!

From leslie peterson on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 15:17:42 from 174.52.158.81

yes, Miss Nike! I just might!

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 15:21:29 from 71.219.99.30

At least print the registration out like I have!

Have you done it before? I hear you have to camp????

From pope_girl on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 16:08:49 from 97.117.106.60

I just emailed goblin valley. They have me down for the 25k. No way jose. I want the full 50. You don't have to camp but you can. When my husband did it he stayed in Green River. Not too bad considering it is a late start for a race.

From leslie peterson on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 16:08:59 from 174.52.158.81

Yes you have to camp unless you want to drive from Green River early in the morning. We camped,it is nice to have a bed the night before a race, but it is worth it, I loved the course. ARe you taking the kids and making a vacation out of it? Will Scott run it?

From pope_girl on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 16:12:34 from 97.117.106.60

Camp camp camp! Let's all camp out there! It will be sooo much fun. Come on leslie, everybody's doing it! Just once won't hurt ;)

From leslie peterson on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 16:20:55 from 174.52.158.81

Laurie, it really does sound fun!!!! I think I am leaning that way, I can do the 50 miler next year, or find one in the late fall if I am ready. It really is a fun fun race and with you guys there we would have a blast!!!!!

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 19:24:59 from 71.219.99.30

Hey, if we e-mail them will they tell us how many spots are left??? I am starting to worry. Smooth really wants to do it as well. So, all the COOL people are doing it!

As of now, the plan is to bring all of the kids. Scott's brother said he would come and bring the 5th wheel so I cold have a bed, but his work is not going so well so I am not sure if that will happen. We may rent a trailer!

From leslie peterson on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 19:51:18 from 174.52.158.81

Let me know Kelli, back in the day when I did it, there were only a few people running it, has it grown that much? Sounds like I need to decide right away.

From pope_girl on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 21:00:45 from 97.117.106.60

glad to know I'm in the group with the "cool" people!

From leslie peterson on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 21:38:53 from 174.52.158.81

Harold is voting for Goblin, and I think Ernie and Gary are too. Oh, yeah, we are cool for sure. Laurie, make sure Chris brings his mountain bike, that is if he is not running, so he can bike with Harold. We just bought a new tent last weekend, we are set!!!! I am finally getting excited, thanks ladies! Should we all get matching dirty girl gaters? lol!

From pope_girl on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 23:39:36 from 97.117.106.60

oooh, I don't have any dirty girls yet :) I would vote for something cute, girly, and/or pink if we go for matching :P

From leslie peterson on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 23:42:04 from 174.52.158.81

pink and girly or tigery.... I think we should!

From Kelli on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 00:24:12 from 71.219.99.30

What they heck is a dirty girl gator???

I am not sure how many do it, I just know the cap is 250 and I do not want to miss out. If I miss out on this one I may never get it done! I am mailing the registration tomorrow so I can not change my mind!

From pope_girl on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 00:56:44 from 97.117.106.60

dirty girl gaiters, they are covers for you shoes to keep the dirt/sand out. dirtygirlgaiters.com I am personally fond fetish, or pink panther! Let's Do IT!!!!

From leslie peterson on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 09:18:12 from 174.52.158.81

Yes Kelli, dirty girl gaiters are a must, and I already have a pair of "fetish" so I am set! Kelli, check out the website, it is the best ever! You will get so excited about your first ultra, all these cute gals in their gaiters doing ultras. I talked to Gary and Ernie last night, it looks like Goblin is the one. I feel a sense of relief not doing the Pony Express this year. I will send in my registration right away too!!!

From Smooth on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 09:52:17 from 174.23.236.38

Hi y'all! Haven't checked on you lately! I'm missing all the fun!!! OK, I need to get on the ball and register for GV. Do we need trail shoes? Camping sounds fun. I don't think Larry wants to camp though, may be I'll leave him home? Let me in on your plans, ladies. I am getting excited!

From leslie peterson on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 11:00:38 from 174.52.158.81

yay Smooth!! I am going to register this weekend, it is a huge relief to not worry about the Pony Express. Goblin Valley will be so much fun, sounds like there will be a few of us going down. Harold and I just bought a little 2 man tent last weekend, so we are going to camp for sure! I am so glad you are going!!! If Larry doesn't go we can all take turns babysitting you! lol!

From Kelli on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 18:38:54 from 71.219.99.30

Okay, those things do not look comfortable at all!!!

From leslie peterson on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 19:37:00 from 174.52.158.81

the gaiters? You don't feel them at all, and it really does keep the sand and rocks out. Try it, you'll like it! Believe me, you will feel naked without them, everyone has them! How is that for peer pressure? lol!

From Kelli on Sat, Jun 26, 2010 at 00:01:20 from 71.219.99.30

Well, if everyone is doing it, what choice do I have????
