Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Oh, yes!  You read that right!  18 big ones!!! I had both of my morning appts. cancel on me and so I had a free morning.  I took Odee to the PR trail and ran in the snow with him.  When we got to the point of the mountain it was super windy, it felt like hundreds of needles were shooting into my face. It snowed the whole time I was running.  I ran back to the car at about 10 miles and put Odee in the car and had a sip of diet coke and ran  the trail out another mile and half and then back. I thought 13 would be a good run for today, but when I got home and didn't know what else to do ( I live a pretty boring life) I changed into dry clothes and ran up to Wasatch Blvd, and then along the Blvd. and back down for another 5.  I felt pretty good.  It took me 3:57 for the whole 18.  I am going to try for 40 miles this week.  Now off to see what you all did today!!!

Tonight Maurine and I are going to sign up for the Grand Slam and then go to dinner!!!  What a fun day!!!

Dang it girl! HOLY COW!! You are the woMAN!!! I am so impressed. We sure missed you on Saturday. Did you have fun with lover boy?

From leslie on Mon, Feb 09, 2009 at 15:55:29

Lover boy did ride his bike with me, every time he does, he loves it and says he is going to do it more often. Harold used to set tile for a living and it was real physical, now he is in the office and he is getting a little soft! I've got to keep him in shape!!!

Hey great long run, , , I just saw on your side-bar that the ultra marathon was cancelled, , , dang!! Thanks for the info though, I didn't know they cancelled it and we were going to run 24 miles this weekend, but now, well, I think we won't! Are you doing the Salt Lake Marathon instead?

From Smooth on Mon, Feb 09, 2009 at 16:01:42

WOWOWEE!!! Leslie!!! 18??!!! You're AWESOME!!! What a brave WOman to have "100 needles shooting into your face". I wimped out and got on the treadmill instead. I am SO SO HAPPY and PROUD of you. Have fun going out to dinner. You deserve it.

Thanks girls!!! It is so nice to do a big run and have everyone tell you BRAVO! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!

Amber dear, you go and do that 24 miler this weekend and tell us how you did!! I was SO bummed it canceled, it is my very favorite race ever. No, I am not doing the SLC marathon, I did the half one year, but I don't like running around the city at all, I do that every day for free. I am doing the Grand Slam and a 50 miler this year, I wish I could find a 50K that sounds good, but I think the 5 races I have planned will probably be enough this year, my husband thinks I am crazy already. The Goblin Valley 50K is super nice too, the only down side is you really need to camp out the night before, or if you stay in a hotel you have to travel a bit in the morning. The course is fun though. Let me know what you end up doing!! thanks for the note!
