Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Took Odee out for a one mile walk, I am still very stiff!!

Okay, it is time for an adjustment on my running schedule and game plan.  I have decided not to run UVM unless I drop 10 pounds and feel like my fitness level has improved. Ogden was a huge wake up call for me.  I really want to complete the slam so I am going to be very focused, so hopefully I will finally get these 10 pounds off that I have been working on for 2 years.

I am also not planning on the OV50.  50 miles of road running would kill me.  So I am taking that one off my calendar and I will not add anything else until I am in better shape.

I am not even depressed about this, I feel like I am just being sensible and adjusting as my conditions change.  Who knows what I will feel like after St. George, maybe I will plan a 50k, just not sure, but I think a 50 miler is not in the cards.

Whew, that was a relief!  I am not running all week, I am going to enjoy my recovery time!  Next weekend Harold and I are back packing in Southern Utah, so I need to rest up!

Yes, you do need to rest up!!!

You are very smart. You know what you are doing. Keep it up. And, once again, let's lose those last 10 pounds together. I am still not going to weigh more than once a week, but I am eating good. I could feel my back fat jiggling while I ran Saturday and it kind of made me sick! I need to get the top half of my body to match the bottom!!!!

Okay, girl, let's do it!! I feel very determined, I really want to do UVM, but refuse to do it pudgy! I could feel my butt jiggle too, enough is enough, it is time for extreme Biggest Loser attitude to kick in. I have had a perfect day, and will continue to do so until it is off!!! Let's do it little Kelli!!!

I am off to check your blog to see how you are doing today

Kelli, I got on the scale, I am back up to my highest point, I am going to weigh myself pretty regularly, because I am on a Nazi physco mission now. I think the last few weeks I have eaten so well I have lost most of my junk cravings, now it is fine tuning and reducing portion sizes all the little details I need to focus on. I am very optimistic and determined!

Just do not become obsessed with the scale. I love not weighing at all, but once a week is working. Up until the week before the marathon i was dropping weight pretty well. Then I got hungry and had cravings and went a little out of control. i did not weigh last week because I did not want to know! I will this Thursday, it could be scary, but it is time to kick myself in the butt. No more cookies every day, only every once in a while!

I have been a saint as well. I can usually make it to Wednesday or Thursday before I fall apart!

It is your first marathon, you must!! I am going to use UVM as a bribe to help me get this off once and for all. I am drinking a green smoothie as we speak, Collard Greens, Kale, spinach, mixed berries, protein powder and ground flax seed. If I close my eyes, it is not that bad, sorta...

I have 2 down, 8 to go.

Good girl! I still have the 5 I picked up at the 1/2 I need to shed. Why must I always go WAY up!!!????? I am peeing a TON today, so maybe it will be gone tomorrow :)

I haven't figured out how to NOT GAIN after a race. It is sick and wrong that you can not pig out after all that training and work. It is just not right.
