Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Today was supposed to be my scheduled 8 mile long run, I am following a program that some of the younger gals in the neighborhood are doing, but they are still up at Girls Camp so I decided to do 2 miles this morning of speedwork (my idea of speedwork will probably make you giggle) and then I am doing 6+ miles this afternoon on the Cottonwood trail with Maurine.  I have never really focused on speed, just putting the miles in and going for the distance, so this is new to me, I am inspired by my young running group who are faster than me and from this fabulous blog, reading about all these fast runners, I didn't  do anything fancy at the track with a stop watch, but I went out for a fast 2 mile run. I put my garmin on at my front porch and just ran fast around my park and neighborhood, at one point my heels were feeling like they were getting pounded so I took off my shoes and ran on the lawn (thank you Maurine for bring that up) it was HEAVEN!!!  I will do that often on my new "speed work sessions"  Anyway, I am posting my stats because it is my first attempt at this and I want to see how I improve.  And, by the way, I am thrilled!!!

2 miles - total time 19:56  Average Pace 9:57

mile 1  -10:05

mile2   -9:50

Max speed 7.4 mph

Maurine and I did the Cottonwood trail again, we are feeling like one of the "regulars"  alot of the same people do the trail daily.  I had run past the same man twice this week and he was there again today with his daughter, the daugher was my son's girlfriend, so I got to meet her dad, that was a pleasant surprise.  Anyway we did it in 1:36 minutes, we shaved off 4 minutes. Our pace was 14.48.  Maurine was a head of me most of the time until about the last mile, I think she was pushing too hard after surgery and she had a little pain and had to slow down. It was a great run!  The mileage on the trail was 6.55

Good job. Now - if you can only get your average page up to the Max speed!

See you at 3 p.m.

Thanks for leaving me in the dust (the things I do to make you look awesome!)!

It was a great run - but I could have done without the last two miles.

Maybe it has something to do with only doing 13 miles last week and being at over 32 already this week. What do you think?

I hope you are feeling okay today, you really did put in a lot of miles for your tender condition. It was a great run!!! Take care of yourself, relax by the pool this weekend!!! No more running for a couple of days!!!
