Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

This morning I ran with all the "running chics" We met at Erica's house at 5:30a and drove up to Wasatch Blvd. and ran north for 3 1/2 miles and then turned around and came back. It was cold and rainy and it even snowed on us for about 10 minutes, the wind was blowing pretty hard.  I am glad we didn't let the bad weather stop us.  It feels good to know we can run no matter what the weather conditons are! Lisa and I both have garmins and we both screwed things up, but we were running for about 1 hour and 25 minutes at about a 12:00 pace, it was a good run.

Good for you! I was lazy last night and just rested. I'm hoping to get some treadmill running in tonight.

Go eat a cookie (bwahahahaha!)....

Maurine, you are never lazy, you are still recovering! I know that is hard for you, but make sure and take good care of yourself!

I think I feel even more satisfied with a run when I brave the elements along with it! I also love the "you're crazy" looks you get from people in cars! One of my favorite runs this past winter was in a terrible snow storm and people were all out bundled up and shoveling snow. I got so many "hellos" and "good for yous" that day! One older gentleman rode up next to me on his four wheeler to ask me if I knew it was winter. It felt great! So keep it up! Even when it seems toughest!

Kim, you are right, while you are in the moment it is tough, but what a sense of accomplishment! I am going to remember your comments and run thru the winter, I usually go to the rec center and do the treadmill and of course hate every single minute. I am going to run all year round outside just like you!! I need to go check out your blog now and see how your run went!

WOW! You are so cool! That is a fantastic run! It really does feel great when you stick to your guns and put it all out there and go for it! I think that is my favorte thing about running- doing something hard that most people can't or won't.
