Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

It is SO COLD!  I went to the gym and did a mix of the elpitical machine and the indoor track for 45 min. I am guessing on my miles today, wasn't feeling all that "into" it this morning. I did do 60 sit ups while I was on the indoor track, and then I did  Muscle-Up.

As far as my Biggest Loser Contest goes, I have had acouple of "so-so" days, I am making pretty good choices, but I am eating WAY TOO MUCH!  Weigh in is on Thur. so I need to really make an effort to limit my portions.  I live to eat instead of eat to live.  When will I learn?

Harold and I went and did 30 min. on the eliptical tonight, so I updated my miles. We found out that Paul has gall stones, of all the rotten luck! They took a CT scan and said the brain is healing fine, or was it the crainium?...anyway, no problem there.

OH dear. I feel your pain. Not only do I live to eat, I work out to eat more!!! I KNOW that I will never learn, so instead I have learned to be content with me. I am still trying to lose those 8 pounds, but I just like food too much to give it up. I bought a bunch of new clothes in September, and I only got to wear them for a few weeks. I have been battling the weight since then. OH WELL!!!

I need to move closer to you, then we could just go out and walk when we are hungry (or to the mall to walk when it is cold!)

You are doing great, you look great, and you ARE GREAT!!!! Just keep on keepin' on! I am sure you will do just fabulous in this contest.

60 sit ups!!??!! I could not do that many to save my life.

Portion control is gonna be your mantra these next few days. You can dooo eeet! :)

Kelli and Smooth, move by me, we would have so much fun working out, it would be painless! We would never be able to get anything else done because we would be working out and laughing all day long!

Okay, I have been munching on these popchips and need to STOP. I am going to be rock solid tonight and maybe even go get another workout in at the gym, if I can pry Harold away from American Idol. He even watched American Idol over the Inauguration last week, he is one CRAZY dude! Bless his pointed little head.

My sweet Paul is back in hsopital, Julie is worried, Paul can not communicate his health issues, he has been pointing to his heart and his right forearm and his stomach and his head for acouple of days, they are going to do some tests on him and see what is the problem. Poor kid, it breaks my heart.

Good luck with your Weight In. Watch the show tonight for some inspiration!

I am so sorry Leslie!!! That has to be so frustrating for him (and his wife). Hopefully they get it figured out and resolved quickly.

From leslie on Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 16:22:34

I WILL watch the Biggest Loser! I love that show.

And thanks Kelli, I will let everyone know as soon as we find out the problem.

From Smooth on Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 16:28:13

Leslie, I am sorry to hear that about Paul. Darn it!!! Sure hope the docs get him the answer and help he needs. Keep us posted.

From Smooth on Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 21:59:31

Is he going to have laproscopy to remove the gall stones? Poor thing. I will be praying for him.

Good job on doing "2 a day".

From leslie on Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 22:06:29

I am not sure, Julie was exhausted after being in the hospital all day, she said he has to go on a liquid diet and change his diet. This all makes me nervous because he can't communicate his symptoms, Julie has to guess....very frustrating, thanks for the prayers!

My second workout was very whimpy, but better than nothing.

Have a nice evening!

I had my gall bladder removed when I had gall stones. However, the DR made me try to change my diet and all of this nonsense before, but then I found out once you have gall stones they do not go away. When i finally met with the surgeon a year and a half after getting the diagnosis of gall stones he asked me why the heck I had waited so long. I told him my DR had told me to change my diet and so on...anyway, the surgeon said that is nuts. Once you have gall stones, you need your gall bladder removed.

Can Paul have that kind of surgery or would it be risky??? Gall stones are SO painful. SO PAINFUL!!!!! The surgery stunk, too, but it was better than the gall bladder attacks I had often!

From Smooth on Wed, Jan 28, 2009 at 13:35:03

That's what I meant to ask: laprocsopy to remove the gall bladder, NOT the gall stones. They used to open you up; now they do it by scope, couple of "stab wounds" instead of one huge incision. But, it's still done with anesthesia with all the complications attached.

From Kelli on Wed, Jan 28, 2009 at 13:37:49

And, I might add, it is an outpatient surgery that, according to the nurse I had, should not be! The recovery was painful, I felt like I had been hit by a truck. I had 4 very small incisions so i thought it would be not too bad, but it did hurt. AGAIN, all it was well worth it to have the other pain gone. I just wonder if maybe they do not want Paul to have that operation right now with his other medical issues?
