Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

I woke up this morning and the scale kicked me in the teeth,  I was ticked off and in a poopy mood, only ran for 2.50 miles on the treadmilll and went down to McDonalds and got a breakfast burrito and diet coke and I am trying to adjust my bad attitude.  I am only down 1 pound for my contest. That really stinks.  This is weigh in #3 and I am only down 2 pounds.

On the brighter side, I am looking forward to our group run Sat. and the PARTY!  I am not sure of all the details, between Smooth and Maurine and I we will figure out something and post it  as soon as we have a solid plan.  Everyone is doing different miles and paces, it will be fun and  wacky, we just need to make sure we all hook up at  some point.  I am still thinking at this point I will meet whoever shows up at Albertsons at 7:30 am, but I am flexible.

Sorry about the scale. I hope you smashed it to pieces. I didn't lose anything this week either.

We could meet for lunch and commiserate with each other :-)

From leslie on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 13:07:28

Lousy scale, if you had emailed me earlier I would have definitely met you for lunch, but I have a Preparedness Meeting tonight and my homework was to make whole wheat blender pancakes and I just made them and ate them. They were devine!!!! I put on my coconut syrup from Hawaii and real butter. I am full and happy and sassy once again! Now that I got a nice "somewhat" healthy slurg in, I think I can get back on track. Now I am going to go shopping, I need a little bit of retail therapy and I will be good to go!!! So dang it on the no loss this week, and you are working out like an womanimal too!! Oh, well we are strong healthy robust women!!!

From tarzan on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 13:48:24

I love blender pancakes!

Fine - I went to Great Harvest and got a hummus sandwich with veggies on whole wheat.

Oh yeah - also got some chocolate mint cookies to wash it down with.

I think I am a strong healthy no bust woman.

From leslie on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 13:54:13

I have enough bust for both of us, you are covered. Maybe that is why you run faster, you are more aerodynamic!! I would trade boobs for speed.

From Sunnyrun on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 15:57:38

I agree with the scale issue, the blender pancakes being divine, Retail therapy always a must BUT I wont trade my boobs for speed - hehe!

Hang in there L!!

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 16:59:15

I definitely think the boobs hold us back, but I think I will keep mine, too (although I would give a little away if I could!) PLUS, they make us weigh more!!!

The scale hate me, too, but I just hate it right back! Stupid thing. I am going all out until Sunday, then back to good behavior. In fact, I should probably fast for a week or so! I had Kneaders for lunch with half of a mint brownie (Emma ate the other half) and a sugar cookie, plus chips (Britta ate a few for me, but not enough). I just love food!!!

I so wish we could come and run on Saturday. Bummer. I am consoling myself with the fact that I HOPEFULLY will get to sleep in a little bit!

From Smooth on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 21:19:40

Leslie,

You girls just crack me up!!! Here's the reason you gained: you lost fat and gained muscles because of all the womanimal workouts. We all know muscles weigh more than fat.

After thinking it over and over and talking with hubby; I decided I better stay around here for my 20 miler on Sat. I much rather run with you gals; but logistically it's just too complicated. Thank you for trying to accommodate me and such; I will join you another day. I am SO VERY EXCITED for the party in the evening!!! Can hardly wait!!!

From rinny on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 22:33:59

a party sounds fun.

don't be too hard on yourself about the weight and I so get the trading boob for speed, I live for the day when I can run with out three bras on.

and smooth is right muscle weighs a lot more than fat. Have you ever measured instead of weighed?
