Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

I slept in, got up, got dressed, got out the door, went  .11 miles into the park and wasn't feeling the love, I was feeling the pain, turned around got in the shower and got dressed and am going to be working my fanny off all day.   I am taking an offical day off from running.

I dropped one pound, by the skin of my teeth, that only makes 3 pounds in 7 weeks, not very impressive, but I am still trying.  Maurine and I have a new game plan, tracking ourselves on fit day, so we shall see. I REALLY want to see 8 pounds off by the end of March  for running season!!

How are we going to survive without Kelli's thought for the day?

I WILL be ready for an adventureous 14 miler with girls on Sat.!!!!!

So far I have had kashi cereal and a banana and egg whites and toast.

Lunch- Yummy salad with Hendrickson's dressing (lettuce, tomato, green pepper, carrots, grapes, apple, 1/2can tuna and pecans)

snack #1 - 1/2 slice whole wheat bread and peanut butter

snack #2  two of my healthy grain cookies, they are super healthy because I forgot to put the butter in!  ( they have oats, fresh ground wheat, quinoa and flax, walnuts and raisins)

For dinner I am fixing tilapia, sweet patato and a green salad.

Good job paying attention to your body.

I don't think that you can reasonably drop 8 pounds in one month and still keep training. However, I think you could do 4-5 pounds, plus work on getting some more muscle.

I am sure you are right, I would be happy with 4 or 5 pounds, and some muscle.

Nice day off :) I sure hope you are feeling better today. Sounds busy :)

Maurine may be correct about the weight :( I guess the trick is to be consistently working on it, using a plan that you can do with your life style. You are going to do great and tracking will be GREAT!! It is a HUGE help! :)

have a fun day :)

Thanks girls! I just added my lunch to my post, maybe this will keep me honest for day or so.

I am trying to get off 8-10 pounds in the next month or two as well. Last week I discovered a book at the library you might like. The title is super dumb: "The Slow Down Diet." It's not a diet at all. It's about your relationship with food, your habits, and using the pleasure of eating to actually eat less and get better nutrition. I am only recommending it because I found an immediate difference in my satisfaction with my food after reading the first 3 or 4 chapters. Good luck! :) Sno

Marion, Consistancy is what I am lacking, good 5 days, bad 2 days, repeat. I am working on my weekends!!!

Britta, Thanks! I hope to be able to least get off 4 pounds by end of March, that is a very reasonable goal and would at least put me back to my pre TOU weight in Sept., which at the time I thought was VERY heavy, crazy how fast things get out of control. Keep enjoying that fabulous OC weather, we will be down again in June, I will look for you!

Sno, I will check out that book, it sounds like something we can all use, dieting is so much a head trip. Good luck on your last 8-10 pounds, I think almost everyone on the blog has 8 10 pounds to lose. I really have 20 but, can not even begine to think about that, baby steps. Last year I set out to lose 10 pounds and went up and down all year and ended up exactly the same, very very frustrating. I am hoping the Grand Slam and training for my 50 miler will get at least 10 off. Excuse me for rambling....
