Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

I had a mamogram appt. this morning at 7:00am, so haven't been out yet, I am thinking of going for a walk with Odee sometime today.  I am enjoying my taper way too much!

For those of you that have heard about my daughter's husband that was injured in a rugby game and suffered a stroke, you can check out Julie's new blog.   She is trying to start up a non-profit organization to help stroke victims that have run out of insurance.  http://theroadtostrokerecovery.blogspot.com/

do you feel smooshed now?

From leslie peterson on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 11:34:02 from 76.23.61.78

smooshed indeed!

From RAD on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 13:42:52 from 76.27.12.70

have a nice 'post-smooshed' walk! :)

From Smooth on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 13:48:25 from 174.23.123.147

I need to make a "smooshed" appt real soon too.

Julie is doing a GREAT cause...so proud of her.

Hey, I need to find out more about this Pony Express thing. Who's gonna be your crew?

From leslie peterson on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 14:11:24 from 76.23.61.78

Smooth, Gary and I are doing the 50 and Harold and Ernie are crewing for us. I am really excited, we would offer to crew you, but we will be in the very back and it wouldn't work out. You would be in the lead for sure, tell Larry to come out and spend a day in the desert with us!!!!! I am really looking forward to this low key fun in the sun race!!! PRETTY PLEASE!!!!!

From Smooth on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 14:16:53 from 174.23.123.147

I have never run anything farther than 26.2. Do you think I can run 50? I will NOT be anywhere near the front. Convincing Larry to crew me will be like pulling teeth. Hmmm...let me see if I can bat my eyelashes. If he won't...do you mind if I hang with you and Gary? Of course, this will all depend on how well I recover from SG.

Smooth, I am really under trained, but I have run 4 50K's and several training runs over 40 miles. I KNOW you would love it, but you would have to shift from your speedy gonzales gear to a easy comfortable pace, you would be great and I bet you would be hooked, not to mention one of the lead runners. We are also starting 2 hours early because we are so painfully slow. I am super excited about this adventure though. I wish it made sense to crew you, but I think it would be very difficult, the road apparently is very rough and you have to go slow to avoid flats, Harold would have to drive alot of back and forth if he were crewing you and there are no gas stations out there. You need to look at his website and read about it. I know where you can get some really nice fake eyelashes!!!! I think it is time you tried a new distance!!!! Come on Smooth, it would be a great birthday present to yourself!!!!!

Smooth, I wrote my entry before I got your last message, I am sure that would be fine, but we are so slow I am sure you would not have any fun at all. It would be awesome to have you along, but I am afraid you would be bored out of your mind. I am thinking it will take me about 14 hours.

From Smooth on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 14:36:45 from 174.23.123.147

K Leslie, YOU are the Ultra Diva! Running with you will never be bored. Getting flat tires would totally freak Larry out. I'll give this adventure some serious looking into. Davy's site says the date is Oct 16-17 at 8am. So, do you start at 6am on Fri Oct 16?

From leslie peterson on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 14:52:26 from 76.23.61.78

Yes Smooth, that is the plan. I think you would love it! I wish Kelli's feet were feeling better, I would twist her arm as well, but I am sure she is pushing it with St. George.

From Smooth on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 15:01:16 from 174.23.123.147

May be I can run 1/2 my age (27) on my b'day...then I wouldn't need a crew? Just carry a camelpak or something? Just a thought. That would be so fun if Kelli will consider this.

One more question: do you wear trail shoes for this one? Will regular running shoes suffice?

From leslie peterson on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 15:04:09 from 76.23.61.78

Smooth, I will have 3 pairs of shoes in the car,I have never seen the course, so I am really not sure....keep thinking sister, you will come up with the right plan!!!!

From Scott Wesemann on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 17:12:38 from 66.239.250.209

Smooshed?? HAHA. All this talk of the Pony exress 50 makes me want to do it really bad, but I don't think I am in good enough shape, and then there is the knee. Next year for sure though.

From leslie peterson on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 18:12:42 from 76.23.61.78

Hey,it's 2 1/2 weeks away, you will be good to go! Come on out!!

From Kelli on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 18:26:30 from 71.219.96.151

Mammograms scare me big time!!
