Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

I had a great run up to LaCaille and back.  Blue skies, cold fresh air, a great start to the day!  Now a pedicure and manicure and whipping up some whole wheat goodies in the kitchen.

This route is an oldie, when Ardie and I started running 15 years ago this was one of our faves.  I have to brag about Ardie for a minute. She is 68 and fit and beautiful.  I am thinking of her today because she is sick and we were supposed to hike today, she has to get better  she is doing the Mesquite Half Marathon Sat.  She is one of my best friends and my hero.  Get better Ardie and go scout out this new course and I will join you next year!!!!!

See, you are SO POSITIVE...you noticed the blue skies and fresh air...and I whined about my cold fingers and toes. :D

I'd love to meet Ardie! What an inspiration she is!!! I hope she gets better real fast. Can't wait to hear about how she does at Mesquite. I thought you were going to run with her...but Harold said NO? I miss you! It's been TOOO LONG!!!

Smooth, you and Ardie would hit it off great. You are both so positive and fun!

I was going to do Mesquite with my girls and meet my mom there, but it all unraveled. I have been tempted to go down and meet Ardie there but we ended up getting concert tickets in SL that night.

Harold was not happy about a 50 miler in Boulder that was calling me, but that is okay, I can find enough local races to keep me going. He is fine with us going down to St. George for the Red Mountain, so I guess I will keep him.

It's a good thing we have "sensible" husbands to keep us sane. Harold is a gem. My hubby said NO when I mentioned 50 anything.

Have you figured out your 2010 race schedule? What's this 50 miler in Boulder?

From leslie peterson on Mon, Nov 16, 2009 at 14:54:59 from 76.23.61.78

The 50 is called Running from an Angel, or something like that, it is in the Lake Mead area.

No I don't have my 2010 calender done yet, the only ones for sure are:Red Mountain 50k in April, St. George in Oct. and then the Pony Express 50 in Oct. I would like to do a half or a full every month, but can't decide what to do, I loved the Bryce Canyon Half, maybe I will do that one. What is on your calendar?

Yes, Harold is a keeper for sure, sanity is way over rated though!

PS Smooth you are going to do the Pony Express 50 next year aren't you? Start batting those eyes my friend! haha! I have a feeling you could talk Larry into anything!

Running from an angel is by the same director who did Hoover Dam. I remember reading about that...it's on Jan 9. Joyce does a good job with her races.

I'm going to run two of the St George runner series. Painter's Half for sure. Are you going to run Painter's again? We had so much fun last year. I might do Dam 2 Dam. It's a 5 miler in Feb. down in Hurricane. Then in March there's Lake to Lake relay in SG or Red Rock Canyon Marathon in NV (one of Joyce's calicoracing races) or Spectrum 10K or Antelope Buffalo run. There are just too many to choose from. I am going to run Boston in April for sure and perhaps do the Slam again. I'd like to do Goblin Valley 50K or Pony Express; but won't know till after SG how the legs feel then.

I wish I could even dream about a 50 miler!! 26 is so much enough for me right now. You two ladies are amazing!!

Sounds like a great run Leslie, and I am so grateful for your positive attitude as well - I just saw frozen snow and got too cold, so I stayed in bed!

I don't think I ever properly thanked you for our lovely 'walk'/hike last week! My children had a great time and I was SO happy to just get out and enjoy the fall beauty! Thanks so much for putting up with our pace and whining :)

Batting my eyes is not working anymore. I had to entice him with seafood buffet for Hoover Dam.

I don't think he'd go for Pony Express. It would be like pulling teeth to get him to crew me out in the dessert. :)

Rachel, I enjoyed it too, I love taking it easy and it was fun to get to know your kids.

Smooth, looks like you are ready for some ultras. I really liked Goblin Valley. I know, so many races, so little time, what's a girl to do? I am still thinking about Painters, but that would make 3 St. George trips, not so sure I want to do that, however, we sure had fun with you all last year, so I am not ruling it out.
