Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

I had a great run this morning, I waited for the sun to come up again, and wore a lighter windbreaker, I think it helped, I think I am slower and more cautious in the dark, and my jacket has been weighing me down, so I felt lighter and brighter this morning and had a better time.

5 miles  57:44  AP 11:36   10:59 /  11:15 / 11:51 / 11:45 / 12:09

My next run will be along beach!!!  Have a great safe weekend, and good luck with all your long run plans!

Glad you enjoyed your run this morning. I'll bet you enjoyed those times. Have fun in California and I hope the weather is great for both of you.

Where are you headed?

From leslie on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 14:07:10

Britta, I just wrote on your blog, we are staying with my folks in Capistrano Bay, next to Dana Point, I am doing a long run this weekend, where are you?

Tarazan, Colleen and Marion, I will bring you back sunshine and lollypops, and rainbows!!!!

From Maurine/Tarzan on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 14:23:08

Am I Tarazan? I love lollipops! I want some.

From leslie on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 14:51:36

You got it, Lollypops! I just signed up for Park City!!! Yee Haw! Only St. George left!

From Kelli on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 15:23:11

You had some awesome split today girl! You need to get rid of all those winter clothes and see how fast you can go!

HAVE FUN!

From leslie on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 15:57:52

Kelli, I was thinking I was fast, then read your blog!! But you know what? For my old body, my long range goal is to be able to do 10 mm in my races. I never care to get faster than that, so I am not too far behind that. Smooth is my age, and she is amazing, but I will be content with 10 mm. Boston is not even a remote possibility and it is all fine with me. I just want to run FOREVER!!!

From Kelli on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 16:07:28

Your times are improving GREATLY as of late! You are fast! It is the improvement that makes us fast, that is all. I only compare myself with ME. When I run below and 8, I am fast! That is slow to a lot of people, but not me!!! We can only RACE ourselves!!! So, if you keep it up, Boston is a possibility! As you get older, you are getting faster BUT they are slowing down the times for you. If you want it, you can do it. But, really, who cares? You are doing the Grand Slam and that is way more impressive!

From leslie on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 16:13:59

You are so right, it is all relative, and it is all good, no I should say GREAT! It is fun to compete against yourself, that is the great thing about this crazy hobby of ours, we can all be winners. Maybe when I hit 60 I might be fast enough for Boston!! Hey, I never did hear what race you are doing in AZ, what is the distance and when are you going?

From Kelli on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 16:16:04

It is Ragnar Del Sol. A 190 mile relay---fun!

From leslie on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 16:17:33

Very fun! Do you have family or friends living down there?

From Kelli on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 18:34:32

My sister lives there, so she is taking the kids for 2 days while we run, and then we are hanging out for there for a few days. i am looking forward to warm (although she called to tell me it might be cold, like in the 60's!!! That is shorts weather!)

From Smooth on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 19:16:56

Leslie,

You ran like a song bird today. Yes, get rid of your winter garb, run light and free and happy. I am so excited for you to run on the beach. You can run in swimming suits. Tell Harold we want lotsa pictures. Have a most wonderful weekend.
