Personal:

I started running at age 40 (14 years ago!)  I am married to Harold, he is a super supportive husband and we enjoy running and biking the trails along the Wasatch Front together. Between us we have 7 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am really having fun trying new races in scenic parts of Utah, I am a newbie in the ultrarunning world, I am slow, but love everything about it!  I have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the journey.

Harold, Gary, Ernie ,Odee an I  drove to the Draper BST trail and Gary and I took off running, Ernie and Harold were going to bike but decided to hike instead with the rain, they ended up going a mile or so and then went back to the car and went for breakfast while Gary and I ran to Corner Canyon and then onto the Porter Rockwell trail, the rain was coming down hard the whole time, actually it kept getting worse, so we called the guys to come pick us up and called it a day.  Crappy weather, but still had a fun time,  we are hoping to get one more decent long run before Ogden on Wed. and then taper.  I am not ready for the marathon, but I have done marathons in this condition before and so I will survive!

(under breath - what a bunch of wimps).

Glad you had a good run today! You will do fine in Ogden. Marion can't come on Friday night - but we will be picking up her packet and I/we will pick her up on Saturday morning at the K-Mart/Chevron in Bountiful.

Did Harold and Ernie at least take you out for breakfast?

No, the bounders just got me a big gulp!

Yes, I am a wimp and I know it, bombed out at St. George and again today. Gary was game to keep going and I bailed on him.

That rain was the PITS! I have never been that soaked ever. Sorry about the skipped breakfast :( Those meanies!!! Nice miles though :)

From Smooth on Sat, May 02, 2009 at 16:41:31 from 71.36.87.147

GOOD for you on getting her done. The rain and wind were horrible. But, we are ready for whatever Ogden brings, except may be a heat wave. Oh, bite my tongue! I melt in heat.

You are a seasoned marathoner. You will be ready for Ogden. Think of it as a long run with hundreds of your friends.

From Maurine/Tarzan on Sat, May 02, 2009 at 17:36:17 from 97.117.57.193

Les - the fact is you got out and did 8 miles in lousy weather. That is much more than many people do - so give yourself credit for that.

Get through Ogden and we can start running trails together and get your mileage to where it needs to be. You will conquer St. George and the OV50 this fall - that is an order.

oh my, oh my! I will need some serious trail running to get this body into shape. Ogden will be a training run FOR SURE!

Good idea, I will put my wet clothes I stuffed in the hamper into the actual washing machine, man, I wish I had a mom!

From Maurine/Tarzan on Sat, May 02, 2009 at 17:50:17 from 97.117.57.193

You don't have a mom? Better not tell your mother that.

From Kelli on Sat, May 02, 2009 at 18:33:16 from 71.219.95.5

YOU WILL SURVIVE!!!!!

Awesome running. I would have headed off to breakfast...

From Gary on Sat, May 02, 2009 at 21:38:50 from 71.195.219.245

I have a mom. His name is Ernie and he washed all my running close already today. I am really spoiled. At least you have 3 men as your entourage. You are a great inspiration to me!

You will do so much better than just "survive!" :)

You're going to do great in Ogden...this weather is poopy!! I'm impressed you're doing the OV50, I think 26 is more than enough for me :)
